I want to start by saying that I've been looking for a sheer red lipcolor for YEARS. Every one I would find would be too opaque, too dark, too sheer or if the shade was ok, it would wear off & leave a dreaded pink outline around my lips.
But these are EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Just the right amount of color and they leave a nice stain on the lips with no uneven wear lines.

I have this one & Candy Apple. I really like them both. Cherry Tart is more pink vs Candy Apple having a more orange tone. I find both very wearable & have worn each several times already. continued >>

Although many users seem to be pretty impressed by this product, I am a bit less so. I like the color, in general, but the texture is a bit too gummy for me -- I prefer a lighter feel for products like this. I was drawn in by the name and the promise of an easily-wearable red, but found myself with a product which was not as wearable as one might think and had a funny feel, without the benefits of moisturization. The color distribution was not stellar -- the color seems to gravitate to the edges of my lips, and leave the center altogether...not a pretty look, I must say. This experience may, however be unique, and I might simply try another, lighter color and see how it goes. I have not given up hope Revlon's lip butters quite yet, and I don't believe this should deter anyone from making the investment, but make someone think before they grab one from the drug store.

You've probably already heard it all about Revlon's lip butters, which appear to be a cult favorite by now, but here's my 2¢ on Cherry Tart specifically: Search no more, pilgrim; this is that impressively wearable red you've been looking for.

Or at least, I was looking for it, anyway! After the Kate Moss for Rimmel lipsticks disappointed me (weird smell, garish coloration, etc.), I begrudgingly accepted that I might have to spend more than US$2 for a decent red. Luckily, the lip butters are often on sale at CVS/Walgreens/Duane Reade (thanks Revlon!), so I've actually never paid full price for any of my 4 lip butters. And -- this is relevant -- 3 out of those 4 are Cherry Tart. For the first time in my life, I've invested in backups of a shade! This is because I've been wearing Cherry Tart pretty much *every day* since I bought my first tube in January, and have finally hit the bottom of the tube. (Also a first for me.)

Other reviewers have mentioned the glitter content in Cherry Tart as a negative point, but to be honest, I didn't even know there was glitter in it at first. I can see the glitter if I swatch the product on my arm, but on my lips, it just registers as shine. There is no gritty feeling at all; it is smooth without being slippery.

This shade of red is actually fairly subtle unless you layer it, which actually can be done without turning your lips into a goopy mess. You don't get the sticky or tacky feeling that you might expect from a lip gloss, and you don't get dried out or flaky as you might from a lipstick. I really don't see any downsides! Sure, it's not as moisturizing as, say, sticking your face in a vat of olive oil, but this is probably as hydrating a lipcolor as you're ever going to get. I am prone to dry/chapped lips, and this is the first product I've been able to wear through the winter months without having to "detox" my lips with Vaseline afterwards!

I don't care that much about packaging, but for what it's worth, the tube is pretty much the exact same color as the lip butter inside it. I know some brands aren't very good at matching the label with the product shade, or the label is so small that you can barely tell what color it's supposed to be, but that is not the case with the lip butters.

The bottom line is that I'm going to keep wearing this indefinitely, so Revlon had better keep manufacturing it!

I love lipbutters, and the color is nice on this one, but I hate the glitter.. it makes it the opposite of what a lip butter should be.. just creamy. glitter in lip stuff makes my lips peel and I hate the gritty feeling. When it wears off it leaves a nice stain and these do moisturize very well.

I just love the flush of redness this gives to my lips... its so much less hassle than going all out on a red lippie. It feels really smooth on the lips & has decent longevity. I would highly recommend this shade! continued >>

I had really high hopes for these but i don't like them. they are too smeary and after some time it looks like you have been making out or something. not worth the hype.

Very nice cool-toned red. I love these Lip butters in general and this is another great shade. I think Candy apple (which is warm-toned) somehow looks better on me (I am NW15) but Cherry tart is a more classic red. The color is so bright and pigmented but the glossiness gives it a less serious look so it would be appropriate for all ages in my opinion. I would recommend this shade to anyone who wants to wear a red on her lips but feels she can't pull off a regular lipstick. It lasts about three hours on me, it doesn't dry out my lips and it leaves a nice stain when it wears off.
I like the packaging too, considering I got this on sale for four dollars I am very happy with it.

Beautiful, basic red color. Its not too bright and obnoxious, its a more toned down wearable red. My only gripe with it is that there is a slight shimmer in it. I prefer my lip colors to be matte, but thats just my like! I would definitely repurchase this.

One of my favorites of the Lip Butter colors!
For reference I have fair skin (second to lightest usually), reddish brown hair, brown eyes, pigmented lips (so I usually like the darker lip colors - I like Red Velvet and Fig as well)...

This color is one of the few medium-toned (not too dark) reds that I can wear. It's sheer, is faintly coral-toned, but mostly just sheer wearable reddish glossy.

I love Revlon Lip Butter in Cherry Tart. It really is the perfect red for me. I've looked long and hard and finally found a wearable red in this product. You can make it as dark or light as you wish. I like to just give it a swipe and its a sheer red and not very dark. If you want it dark you just apply with a heavier hand. It's the only red I've ever found that I can wear in the day and not look like I'm trying too hard. It feels good on the lips, not sticky and there is no noticeable smell for me. The packaging is okay. Nothing fancy but not too cheap and flimsy. The price is right too. I also own a pink shade of the lip butter but I keep going back to use Cherry Tart everyday. This color is perfect for those with cool undertones looking for an everyday red.
