I bought this to take on my trip to Cancun in February. I only used it once. I had the WORST breakouts from it. The pimples were hard and extremely painful. It made my skin feel like an oil slick even with powder. The smell was like vomit and lasted all day. I want to try the oil free version, but the experience with this product is keeping me from doing so. DO NOT BUY IT.
For reference my skin type is combination to dry skin and somewhat acne prone. I've had this bb cream for a good while now and I've worn it to school, going out to the beach, etc. For the record yes it is moisturizing and gives protection from the sun giving it has SPF 15. BUT even for a gal with dry skin, this felt reeeally heavy and I could tell I had something on my face and I felt like an oil glob even when I set it with powder. I did get compliments about my face looking more radiant but when I would touch my face I could not stand it. I have hyper pigmentation and this bb cream barely covers it. The scent doesn't really bother me. I didn't break out from but I would NOT recommend this for someone with oily skin. I've switched to the garnier all-day shine control bb cream for combination to oily skin (even thought I'm not suuuper oily this seems to work for me pretty well)
I am pretty happy with this product. I've got it in light.
I do think it is a little dark/orange for my skin tone, but it blends in nicely.
When I first smelt it I didn't like it, thinking it was a bit to strong but once it's on I don't notice it anymore.
I find this good for everyday use, instead of having to apply my normal foundation and everything. This is all I need just for a light coverage.
It doesn't cover up all my marks but does even out my skin which is all I am wanting.
It's cheap and does all I want it to, so I am pleased.
Caused itching after application. Returned.
I'm still really on the fence about the Garnier BB Cream.
First of all, I lived in California when I bought this, and for some reason, I had a heck of a time finding the Light/Medium shade in stock anywhere. I finally found some, and was really excited to try it.
I have fair-ish skin and the tone of this BB Cream was a bit dark for me, but since I used it in the Summer, it wasn't too bad. I was a little surprised by how thick the consistency was, but I just learned to use a very small amount at a time. As I've grown a little older, my skin has turned from oily all the time, to more combination. This BB Cream goes on with a dewy finish, and it seemed to last nearly all day on me. I really wish the SPF were higher (like the Maybelline- SPF 30). Between the low SPF and slightly too dark for me shade, I don't think I would repurchase.
This was the first BB cream I tried, and I was very disappointed with it. As others have said, it's really not a genuine BB cream. I would compare it more to a cheap tinted moisturizer. I have combination skin and I really have to be careful about how I moisturize - my skin can go from oily to flaky from one day to the next. While this product did help with giving my skin a healthier glow and helping to mask some imperfections, it had a strange way of making my skin somehow greasy and yet not moisturized. It also didn't sit well with my makeup. I will not be repurchasing this.
I like this a lot. It's my first BB cream but it does what I expected...from what I expected a BB cream is lighter and more natural than a foundation and also better for the skin, but a little heavier than tinted moisturizer.
I have a natural looking foundation that I like but I just hate wearing foundation every day..to me it's a hassle and my skin isn't bad so I don't like the idea of having a full face on all the time. But, admittedly when I do wear foundation my skin looks nicer and my face looks brighter/better.
This is a good compromise because just like with foundation I get an even glowing complexion and my face just looks smoother and nicer! But unlike foundation this stuff feels more natural and light (and my foundation is light coverage). Basically if you have slightly uneven tones or redness where there are a few pimples and just want a nice, even finish that looks natural and dewy, this is your thing. I apply slightly more where I have a few pimples and the coverage is lighter than my foundation but enough for me.
However if you want real coverage and not just a light even glow this probably won't do enough for you.
This also feels more natural and moisturizes, also is supposed to do some other stuff like even and condition your skin I think. When I put it on it doesn't really feel like face makeup, but like cream.
So far I am loving it, for someone who just wants a nice even finish without wearing full face makeup it's perfect.
I use a little bit of clear primer under it and a dusting of translucent powder (Revlon) over it like I would with foundation but it feels a lot more natural than foundation, and also I have been told it looks more natural than my foundation, but my foundation itself looks pretty natural!
Great stuff, definitely hit the spot for what I was looking for. I may become hooked and start wearing it most days in fact.
People said they had a problem with the shades because there are only 3. I am quite pale but the fair, lightest shade looks perfectly natural and blends in perfectly with my own skin tone.
Mine isn't the oil free one, it's the regular one. I have a few small breakouts here and there but my skin is not oily and IME oil free foundations were gross and cakey on me so I don't usually buy oil free.
Like many other BB creams on the market, the Light shade was too dark/orange for my skin...
I picked this up during my third trimester when my face was feeling extra dry and it was also summertime so I was looking for something that would be lightweight and not break me out. This seemed like a miracle product for me because I've always had to load on moisturizer before applying foundation to combat flakiness which causes breakouts. This stuff is awesome because it gives my skin the moisture that I need and it doesn't break me out. The color match is actually pretty close for me. I think if it were just a tiny bit more yellow, it would cover my redness better but because of how moisturizing this product is I don't get as much redness when wearing this. All in all, I love this and I'm going to repurchase it because I don't want to ever be without this. HG status!
Hi there, I have never used any foundation makeup before. I have oily skin so I always worry that my skin will get worse if I start applying foundation. I have visible open pores and get blackheads on my nose. So when I discovered this BB cream, I was amazed how smooth and refreshed my skin looked. It is only slightly tinted but it manages to cover the pores and the blackheads. I have been happy with it for 6 months. However my skin started to get a bit more oily recently and it affects the effects of this BB cream. I apply it and about 2 hours later, I have to use a tissue on my face to control the T-zone as it is shiny. I bought the new version for oily/combination skin but it is not as pleasant as this original BB cream. The new version leaves dry patches and flakes on my nose, forehead so I am not keen. Next thing I want to try is to use powder to control the shine.
