I bought this because I've had an irritated patch on my upper eyelid for awhile and am trying to cut way down on eye makeup to see if it might get better. I can't go without mascara, though, so I thought PF would be the best option for purity. I am a Lash Blash (orange tube, non-w/p) fan so some of the reviews below encouraged me. I am pleasantly surprised by this mascara and like it a lot.
- I got the blackest black (don't know the exact name) because that's all they had but it's not an OTT black, it's a non-blue, non-trashy looking black.
- The brush is like LB's brush--doesn't seem to hold as much product--but still manages to coat lashes with just a few strokes.
- My lashes look black, defined, long and sleek without looking cakey.
- I have no problems with smudging or flaking even after a 15-hour day.
- No irritation.
- Easy to wash off with J&J baby wash.
- Can't comment on how it holds a curl since I don't use a curler--they make my eyelashes look spiky.
This stuff basically gives me a my-eyelashes-but better look--not the thick falsies look of LB but a well-defined, polished effect. It's a little expensive for d/s, but d/s prices are getting ridiculous and PF tends to be on the higher end. The tube has a nontraditional shape which I can take or leave-- it seems like it could seal a little tighter. I will definitely repurchase and would recommend to someone looking for a gentle, easy-to-remove, nonflaking, pure black mascara.
To begin with, I'm a die hard fan of waterproof mascara because my Asian lashes would uncurl and cut through glass with just normal mascara...or so I thought! I debated buying this product for a while because a. it's not waterproof and b. because it's pretty expensive for a drugstore product. But Ulta had a 40% off discount for the PF line and I was like What the hey? I'll buy the mascara! So it ended up being around $7 I think. Anyway, I tried it and love it! Granted, because it's not a waterproof mascara, it doesn't hold a curl as well and will wilt and smudge if you cry but I think the perks of it being more organic trumps those cons. Also, the packaging looks pretty cool. It's not a typical tube and looks sleek with it's black palette. All in all, I will repurchase this! Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
This is pretty much the same as the regular jumbo mascara. I haven't noticed anything different in my lashes, hasn't enhanced them or anything. Its just you typical mascara. It has all the same pros and cons as the reg. jumbo mascara too. Has good volume but can be very clumpy, the formula is really creamy but dry. and it flakes. I really like the packaging though, the black is really attractive.
The side of this mascara box shows results of lash length and increase of lashes so I decided to try it. It went on easily and without much effort. I usually hate fat brushes but had no problem with this one (I did the CG Blast though) and the grooves in the leaf shaped handle made it easy to hold. I usually have to comb out my lashes a little, but with this I didn't have to. The packaging is gimicky but the case is black. It held the curl most of the day ( I see it didn't for another reviewer but it may depend on climate and creams, which I don't use in the a.m.)
UPDATE: I have now used this quite a while and no difference in lash growth. I didn't rate this a 5 because after about 7 hours or so, I did see flakes but also a tiny bit of smudging. Easy to touch up, but if I knew I had a long day ahead, I would chose another mascara. I changed my review to a 3. There are others that hold up better and perform better.
I also bought both the ultra black and black colors and can't tell much difference between them except the ultra black is wetter and harder to apply. Also the ultra black smeared much more.
This mascara is just "meh" for me. It reminds me of Lash Blast, but without all of the harsh ingredients. Lash Blast and Lash Blast Fusion give a bit more drama and glossy finish. This mascara is more matte, but still very dark black. I don't have as much lash fallout with this mascara, which I do like. My main complaint with this mascara is it seems to never dry. My lashes are very sticky, even at the end of the day. I seem to get fuzz in my eyelashes a lot. I know that's kinda weird, but it's winter and I tend to wear a lot of sweaters and I'm constantly finding fuzz stuck my lashes! haha! It also doesn't hold curl well. I will continue to use this as my daily mascara and switch back to Lash Blast for when I'm feeling fancy :P
I'll update if my lashes suddenly start to grow. I've been using this for about a month and haven't noticed any change in length or thickness. The lack of lash fallout is the only thing I've noticed.
I may try the other volumizing mascara from Physician's Formula to see if it's less sticky. I do like the idea of a healthier mascara for daily use!
I purchased this because I LOVE their Jumbo Lash mascara and thought I'd give this a try as well because it has the same packaging and brush. I don't love this as much as the Jumbo Lash... but it's a nice mascara and will be a good daily mascara, and I'll use the Jumbo Lash when I need a more volumizing and dramatic lash. This has a dense formula, a nice glossy black and the thick brush coats my lashes well... I just don't feel like it holds a curl as well as the Jumbo Lash or emphasizes my lashes as much. I have long lashes to begin with so this just doesn't boost them as much as I was hoping. There's no irritation... and like the Jumbo Lash this is a very gentle formula so there's no lash fall out like I experience with regular mascaras. I don't get raccooning or flaking, and I am not as diligent w/removing my mascara as I probably should be... this wears off nicely and like I said... I don't lose lashes which is nice. Overall I'd stick w/the Jumbo Lash but this is a good daily mascara that I'll use. If there's some miraculous boosting of my lashes I'll update. (I doubt it but y'never know).
