I bought this product because I was looking for a decent makeup base. I suppose I expected miracles, but ended up with tragedy. It was supposed to ease my makeup application and made it streaky, cakey and difficult! Smelled nice, like lavender, but if there's no beneficial purpose for putting something on your face, what's the point? I still have a full tube and wish I never bought it!
after searching for "the" face primer i was ready to give up, but i decided to give this a try and im so glad i did. it left my skin really nice and soft and smooth. it worked nicely with all of my foundations, and a little goes a very long way. i wouldnt be surprised if this tube lasts a year. for the money its worth it, and im extra happy since i got a brand new tube for 1/4th the price off ebay :) would purchase at regular price again though :)
I am overwhelmed by how beautiful this makes my skin look. I put a little bit on in the morning and my face remains smooth and completely matte all day - no more shiny forehead or greasy chin, even many hours later! I haven't tried it with foundation yet, just by itself, but my skin looks radiant and feels soft and lovely. What an excellent product.
Like this one a lot! I wear it over the top of an application of Hope in a Jar. Keeps my face nice and matte - no shiny spots, no breakouts. I will probably use this instead of my moisturizer when the temps start to go up (summer).
I LOVE THIS!!! I have never had a primer do what it says it will. This product evens out my skin so that my foundation does not sink into my pores or fine lines. I would recommend allowing it time to dry (aprx. 5 minutes) but works great all day long! I will recommend this to everyone!
I use this product alone or with Chanel Teint Fluide Universel Foundation. I think it is a great find for anyone who has combo or oily skin and works well as a moisturizer if your skin is tending to actup under stressful times when your regular moisturizer seems to exacerbate the situation.
I gave it a 3 for overall rating only because this is the first primer which I have ever tried but Philosophy has such a great reputation in my book that I felt I couldn't go wrong trying it out. ALso, if you purchase from QVC you do have a 30 day money back guarantee. Could be viewed as somewhat as expensive but a little goes a long way. You do need to remember to let it dry for the 2 minutes recommended if you are going to apply foundation.
I refuse to put on makeup without this! I have combo skin, oilier T -zone an drier cheeks, and this goes over my moisturizer and i wait 2 minutes, and then I put on my foundation. It makes my foundation (clinique superfit shade 1) go on very smooth and blends like a charm. it sets my makeup in place ALL DAY. My blush used ot fade, but now i notice it's still on after 10 hours. Great product, I guess doesnt work for all, but works beautifully on me. Also I have never used any other makeup primers before this one.
I really like this product...ALOT. I use the complete Philosophy Skin Care line and this was a great addition to my Philosophy collection. It is a wonderful make-up primer. I have found like the reviewer before me that it takes a very small amount of this product to do the job. What really reeled me in was the "invisible foundation" label that is used to sell it on QVC. I wear foundation on the outer parts of my face and concealor only through the middle and sometimes it has a tendency to sink into my pores, this product has elimanated that and I am happy! For $25 dollars it was worth it and for as little product as you actually need, it will last forever!!~UPDATE~10/24/03 I have been using this stuff for 6 months now and I am still loving it! It is the perfect primer for BE Mineral Foundation! continued >>
I am thrilled to offer the first review of this product... It provides some breakthrough control and produces a glass like smooth surface for applying makeup. I was wary of this at first because it feels very creamy and emollient going on, but you must wait 2 minutes or more for it to "set" at which point it virtually disappears, leaving behind a smooth finish. Bonus #1: light lavendar scent. No comedeogenic ingredients either. This is a far superior product to the NARS primer, which not surprisingly broke me out (duh, like the third ingredient is isopropyl myristate or some such hideous zit fertilizer.) At $25 for 2 oz. it's average priced for mid to high end primers; should last some time. Bonus #2: acts as a light moisturizer for my oily skin. Won't hestitate to repurchase! Edited to add: after a few days of using this i must emphasize the need to use it sparingly! Three small dots for the entire face should be sufficient otherwise you will get the dreaded balling up effect. Also, it didn't work so well in the summer months, so the search continues.
Kudos that they offer a moisture product for oily skin, but this doesn't do anything good for me. Left my skin feeling itchy and it smells bad.
