This is gorgeous. I even bought a fancy lipstick holder to keep it in because I feel it deserves a place of honor! I love the deepness of the color and the matte texture. I am fairly fanatical about keeping my lips hydrated and in good shape so I handle the matteness without much of a problem. Or sometimes by the end of the night, I might throw some lip balm over top and it still looks great!
LOOOVE this color its the ultimate Rockabilly red. It stays on great threw drinks and dancing. This is my favorite lipstick I think it looks and stays on better when used with a lip brush. I always get compliments on it when I go out. Its a makeup bag must have.
I'm frustrated. I love a good red lipstick and spent $18 or so on Prescriptives Classic Red Creme, only to find Ruby Woo which looks sooo much better, lasts sooo much longer and has that wonderful creamy matte texture that I craved. I wore it the other night and fell asleep in it (horrible, I know!) and woke up the next morning and guess what? My lips were still Ruby Woo! This is a keeper.
Ruby Woo is hands down, the best red. It's a no nonsense intense blue-red. It's the red that makes red so coveted, people! True, the matte formula is drying, but that's nothing a little BeneFit Smooch or Clinique All About Lips couldn't rectify. The first 5 minutes are slightly more creamy and then I think it "sets" and my lipstick is perfect through midnight. It's just incredible.
But the fact that it is so matte is what makes it so sexy-I personally dont like any shine/glitter on this color as it ups the "S**t" factor on me.
I never use this lipstick without the MAC Cherry liner-it's an exact match and keeps your lipstick precise. If you like this, you'll also like:: Russian Red, Viva Glam, Classic Dame (slight shimmer-mattene), Seriously Rich (fuschia tones-mattene), You Say Tomato (orange tones-mattene) and I'm currently looking to try: Lady Danger, Lady Bug, Glam (discont.) and MAC Red.
Ladies, if you want to stand out and get noticed by every man AND woman out there, don the ruby woo!
i had SUCH high hopes for this product. i have been in search of the HG of red lipsticks for years. after finding MUA and doing research, i ordered this from MAC. i opened it and thought, now THIS is the color. i put it on and as all MAC lipsticks, the packaging was nice and it went on like a dream. then i looked in the mirror. hello fuschia! i absolutely wanted to cry. for gals like me with pale skin and yellow undertones, this is not the deep red lipstick of your dreams. the search continues.....
I ADORE this lipstick! I wear it over MAC Brick lipliner, and it stays put literally all day--through lunch and countless sips of water. It's a matte bluey, true red that does not turn dark or bleed at all. In winter, I use this every, every day and get compliments all the time b/c it looks so polished. For a touch of old Hollywood glamour that is still wearable for every day, this is the stuff. LOVE it.
In my lifetime I have tried almost every shade of red lipstick on the market, ranging from low end drugstore brands like Revlon to the higher end brands like Chanel. After years of searching I have settled on this one. I consider it to be the most classic, old glamour red shade I've ever tried. I've received numerous compliments on it in public, as it pairs well with my fair skin and dark hair. With MAC Cherry lipliner it can last for hours w/o touch ups. I highly recommend this product to all women, free the inner hollywood starlet in you!!!
I bought this soley based on reviews here. I kept seeing the phrase "40's glamour" and the name Gwen Stefani - and those 2 things alone were enough to convince me I needed a tube. Yes, I am a sucker. And I love makeup. So, I bring it home and think ... hmmm, this is pretty loud, better test drive around the house before going out in public with this stuff on. So I put it on and YIKES! ... woo hoo, now that's some lipstick, hellooooo! I initially thought, well, I tried at least. But I couldn't resist going back to the mirror to re-check. Every time I liked it more. By the end of the night, I loved it. It really does put some sort of spell on you. It really makes you feel glamourous and sexy. It lasts great. Very matte. No funny smells. I found a Rimmel liner called Red Dynamite that matches great ... because you do need a liner for this, and you need some fairly proficient skills in the art of applying makeup to use something this bold and matte. But if you have the nerve and the personality, this is wonderful. My motto is makeup should be fun and this is fun.
I don't know where to start. I'm the first person to say I like the natural look so atfirst I was very timid of this color but after hearing that Gwen Stefani wears this - it was very alluring. I've always admired her style so I was curious. This stuf is like magic in a tube! I applied 2 layers (blotting in between) after lining with cherry liner.
The moment I put this on a sense of confidence took over me. I felt like an old Hollywood actress from the 40's bearing no apologies. You really have to understand the iconic nature of a deep matte lip color to wear this. My lips looked like plush velvety pillows. If men weren't staring they were asking for my phone number. Women complemented my complexion. I ate my lunch and to my surprise no touch up required. who could ask for more? I could feel an addiction forming! When I take this lip color off I feel so drab. I can understand why Gwen reaches for this time and again. It brings the life to my face! I feel like I could wear this lip all dressed up or with a t-shirt and jeans and look fabulous. It makes my heart pitter patter every time I put this on. It took some practice & I definately recommend using the cherry liner (I watched some youtube tutorials for reference). This looks great on all complexions if you are fair don't be afraid of this! it makes you look like porcelain.
Im nw20, I usually do at least two layers, never looks fuschia on me.
I went to MAC expecting to buy Russian Red and I came home with Ruby Woo. I tried them both, and Ruby Woo made me swoon. It makes my lips look like velvet. This lipstick is sexy. Men can't look away when you wear this. It's, uh, sex in a stick, big time. Totally beautiful, and I'm totally in love. I'll never need another red lipstick, because I can't imagine this being beat. The matte texture is what makes the lipstick special, I really hope MAC doesn't change it.
