It's so hard getting product out of this thing but once you remove the rubber cleaner bit out.. Voila!
It's a bit pricy at 9pounds but it definitely does do the job! I can tell that without the primer my eyeshadow creases badly and there's quite a bit of fallout. This magical primer helps my eye makeup last a very very long time! From early morning to the late evening! Love it!
This is definetly a great primer. It makes your eyeshadows pop while producing a smooth canvas. My eyeshadow seems to stay most of the day but it does tend to crease my eyeliner if I have it on with my eyeshadow (more than likely because my lids are smaller, i'm half asian). I was using Clinque's base before but this works much better.
I can not believe I have yet to review this product... because I absolutely love it! After all the years Ive plastered my eyes with eyeliner and cringed over the fact that it would always become a smeared gloppy mess after a few hours... I cant believe I never heard of a product such as this! I know its considered a base to keep your eyeshadow from creasing (which it does quite remarkably) but I really like the fact that this keeps my eyeliner put! no matter if Im using my most expensive eyeliners or the drugstore crap, it doesnt smudge or budge! I havent tried shadow insurance so I guess thats next on my list.. but Im on bottle number two of UDPP!! love it! minus one lippie because its not quite neutral on my pale pale skin.. I can see it in some areas if I dont cover it with shadow but other than that.. no complaints! (oh and packaging... not so great) k... Im done promise!
This is amazing, I do not know how I lived without it. Smooth application, helps eyeshadow look darker, last longer and crease free.
I know there are some complaints on packaging and having to depot it in the end. I spoke with customer services and they are in the process of coming up with new packaging!
I used to use a Claudia Stevens Shadow base in a jar that only cost 5 dollars until it was discontinued. I broke down and bought the Primer Potion for 15. It kept my shadow on 15+ hours! I was very impressed with how well it works. A little goes a long way! I wish they would make a better container because I feel I am not getting everything out of it.
There were so many raves for this product that I had to try it (my previous eyeshadow base was Clinique touch tint in Natural Suede, which I think is being discontinued). I was disappointed with the UD primer potion and after trying for a week or two, returned it. It was too drying for my eyelids, and while the shadow didn't crease, it seemed to make the folds in my lid more pronounced, making them look old... not good! I also didn't care for the wand packaging. I much prefer Too Faced Shadow Insurance, both for product and packaging.
I was searching for a solution to the creasing of my eyeshadow. I stumbled across this website and few other makeup sites. Everyone, I mean everyone raved about UDPP. I finally broke down and bought it it is has been a godsend. My eyelids are naturally oily and make any eyeshadow I apply crease and wear off in a matter of minutes. Now I can try much more different styles and colors all with the guarantee of it lasting all day long. GREAT BUY!
I echo everyone else as the sole draw back being that the bottle makes getting to all the product difficult. Actually darn impossible without a knife, but I the product works so well that I am willing to put in some work to get to every last drop
This works pretty well for me. The primer potion holds on my eyeshadow all day without getting creases. Also, with this primer you're able to really pack on color if you want to because it holds it fairly well. For example, I like the Urban Decay color "Midnight Cowboy," but when I wear it without a primer the small, light glittery particles from the shadow end up all over my face, and when I apply the same color in the same manner while wearing the primer potion, it stays put only on my eyelids all day and the glitter does not fall all over my face. The textured shadows like midnight cowboy seem to adhere much better and stay in place until you remove it.
There're some cons to primer potion product though: 1.) The packaging, because when you begin to run low, it's very difficult to get the remaining product out of the very cute, but inconvenient genie-shaped bottle. So I think some of it gets wasted. 2.) The other thing is that it isn't as creamy and does not blend as well as the brand Too-Faced's eyeshadow primer, "Shadow Insurance." So even though I like UDPP, I like shadow insurance better for the consistency and packaging. 3.) Also, being that shadow insurance comes in a tube and not a genie-shaped bottle, you can easily use every last drop of the product which makes it a better value and makes it last much longer. I personally do not like wand applicators.
After warming primer potion on my the palm on my hand (to get it to blend better), I apply a thin veil of it over my entire eyelid from lash line to brow and sometimes I lightly feather a small amount under my lower lashine to help hold my bottom liner in place. I let it sit for a few seconds and then do my eye makeup as usual and it does totally stay on all day. If I am wearing a satin or matte finish lipstick, especially a deeper shade, I always put a very light amount of the primer potion on and around my lips to help hold on the lipstick and prevent it from bleeding. Even though it's not labeled for that, it does somewhat work as a lip primer (for me anyways), but it does not work as a lip primer for any glossy or wetter consistency lip products, then it just doesn't do anything and if you put too much it can get a little weird.
I heard that the company is actually changing the packaging to a tube or something better than the genie bottle. When that happens I will update and bump it up.
I finally caved and bought 'The Potion' in a set with two eye shadows, and a larger size of this, even though I was pretty sure I had a sample of it at some point and didn't think much of it. Anywhoooo, as it turns out, this stuff is pretty freakin good! I don't even give my shadow a second thought all day. I have used it under the eye and it's fine as long as it's well blended, as it can look blotchy if it isn't. I have a real problem with my makeup smearing below my eyes and I don't get much help from this on that issue, but I really doubt anything could help that! I didn't wait to cut this open until it ran out, I did it right away and transfered it to a different container, as I wanted to use a brush, that doe foot deal wasn't something I was excited about. It was amazing how much product there was in this thing!!! I would guess it will go for a year with daily use. Overall, it is very, very good st holding e/s in place, and as yet the best I've found, and trust me, I'm a MU junkie and I've tried a bunch!
I love this stuff! My eyeshadow used to crease all the time, so I finally decided to go out and buy a primer to combat this. I had heard great reviews about this stuff, and Urban Decay has once again impressed me. The only thing I dislike is that I have a feeling that the bottle shape will keep me from using all of the primer before I need to buy a new one. Other than that, this is great!
