this mascara gets such rave reviews. and i don't understand why. it clumps to no end and leaves my lashes looking 'spiky'. the only good thing is it looks all right on my lower lashes.
I take things very seriously regarding only keeping mascara around for 4 months tops, and Great Lash is one I've been using forever which is inexpensive enough to be able to replace so frequently without any guilt.
It's efficient, though simple, and I use the sort with the curved brush in Brownish Black. I have a lot of lashes which are long, but they are fair in colour so they often just need some darkening to look good. I always curl them before applying, and though I've found the Great Lash to clump if you aren't careful, it is a quick fix for waking up the eyes.
I'm surprised this mascara received an average rating of 2.1. I have seen this product mentioned in many magazines and top makeup artists also seem to love it. I like the curved brush and rarely have problems with clumping. Plus, it only costs $5 and often goes for 40% off at Rite Aid (love their makeup sales!)
I hate this mascara. I don't know why it is still around, it is honestly the worst mascara I have ever tried! I prefer L'oreal mascaras, even if they are a little more expensive.
I never did understand all the hype about this product. I tried this 30 odd years ago when all the magazines were promoting it as being the first choice of makeup artists. On me, it merely clumped and made a mess. Unless they changed the formulation, I am surprised that it is still around. If you are looking for a cheap and effective mascara, try mark's Make It Big. Even Avon is superior to this stuff.
What a waste of $5! This mascara is horrible. I didn't see any volume, definition, length, etc. to my lashes. Waste of money in my opinion.
I have Great Lash in Blackest Black, Waterproof. I actually quite like this mascara as it is very basic and buildable. It can be tricky to apply (clumpy) if you are not careful or are in a hurry. I quite like the slow drying time - it makes the product very workable. I apply this over top of my Shiseido mascara base, although it looks pretty alright without primer.
My remedy for keeping Great Lash moist is to add a drop or two of a gentle face lotion (Cetaphil) and swirl it around whenever I find the tube drying up. This revives the mascara and keeps it workable. This mascara does not flake or smudge (atleast very little) compared to other low and high end mascaras I have used (L'Oreal, YSL, to name a couple).
My only qualm with Great Lash Waterproof is that it is REALLY difficult to remove.
This mascara did nothing to my eyelashes. I can't understand why so many people like it. I have tried it several times but still it does nothing. Yes, it is cheap but my lashes look as short as usual. It does stains under my eyes and gives me dark undereye circles.
I don't think this mascara is that bad..I never have problems with it clumping, I find it easy to apply and I don't have to reapply throughout the day. But for drama I love Max Factor.
Maybe it's because my eyelashes are already so long, but this stuff just runs, runs, runs on me. Within an hour, I look like a racoon. Too bad since the price is so right.
