I get very sweaty in the summer, so I tried Certain Dri. It burned my underarms. leaving tjem itchy and red. The active ingredient in Secret Clinical Strength and Lady Mitchum roll-on is much gentler and as effective. And for those who sweat along with me, a tip: part of it is the soap you're using. Most bar soaps leave a film that's like plastic wrap on your skin. Try a Dr. Bronner soap. It rinses clean and reduces the sweating problem. Really.
It looks like I am one of the few who this did not work for. I tend to sweat alot, and have been looking for something that will really work. I had heard great things about this, so I picked it up. The first few times I used it, it was okay. But after awhile, I noticed it started to smell really awful. It overwhelmed me. And it didn't keep me dry either. I ended throwing it away. I will stick to Secret Clinical.
The only deodorant I use that keeps me fresh. I've tried EVERYTHING. From Mitchum to Vinegar to just about everything. This keeps me dry when I apply it at night and then I follow up with certain dri a.m. when I wake up. This has been a godsend. I have seen it plenty of times but overlooked it due to the unattractive packaging. It may seem that none of it is actually getting applied (just drops) but do not be decieved! It is being applied and do not put too much or you will be itching to the point of driving you NUTS! Use is conservatively and you will really enjoy the results.
This stuff is awesome! I've always had a huge problem w/ underarm wetness and I feel soooooo self concious about it. Not so much of a problem with odor so I can't really review it for that. But this stuff works! After only 2 nights of using it (you put it on at night) I'm totally dry during the day. If you have wetness problems I highly recomend this stuff.
Did not work for me, I use Drysol which you can only get from a doctor. I tried Certain Dry and was very dissapointed. Did not help with sweating at all and smelled very very unpleasant. Don't waste your money.
I keep trying to use this stuff because it really does work the best for sweat. But it makes me break out in a horrible, red, itchy, bumpy rash no matter how sparingly I use it. However, I would recommend trying it because if you are not sensitive to the ingredients, it really does work great.
I sweat A LOT, not matter how hot or cold it is. And, like someone below me, one arm sweats a hell of a lot more than the other In fact, I don't even apply certain dri to one of my arm pits because it really doesn't need it.
This product does work, and I only need to apply it about once every three days. I apply it before bed time, and in the morning I apply a nice smelling deodorant (like Secret Scents).
What I don't like about this product is that it's a roller deodorany. I understand its necessary for the product to work, but none the less the liquid is bothersome.
Also, make sure that you armpits smell good before applying, or else the ball will start smelling icky...I tried washing it, but I think I made matters worse and ended up buying a new one! It's more expensive than other deodorants, but it's well worth it.
I just wish I had found this product sooner. I have spent years putting up with excessive sweat ruining my tops and embarassing me, thinking that there was no way to stop it.
I've been using it for 3 days and no more giant sweat marks! I apply and blow dry, as some have recommended. No itching or burning, but I don't have sensitive skin. I found it for $4.79 at Target.
5 lippies for this product! I don't have odour problems (at least i don't think i do), but my armpits sweat, not excessively, but just enough to make me feel self-conscious to the point that i was careful about what i wear (lots of black tops in my closet). it didn't matter whether it is 20 degrees below outside, my armpits still sweat, the right one the most... weird, i know. i've tried everything out there, and was happy with mitchum, but i still get wet spots. i actually discovered certain dri here on makeupalley, and i was on my way to shoppers the next day. to canadian residents, or at least in toronto, you have to special order it at the pharmacy, they don't usually have it in stock, but it will come in 1-2 days, and it sells for about $10 can't remember the exact price. i've been using it for 2 months now, and i've started wearing my non-black tops :) it did sting a bit the first few nights i put it on, and it still gets a little itchy. the key is not to overapply, i did it the first 2 applications thinking it would be more effective, but the excess made the skin around my armpits burn and i had rashes for 5 days. now i apply it every other day and the bottle is still a little more than half full. to make this review short, this product is heaven-sent and i will buy again and again and again...
i was sweating like a pig when i was in JR high school. it was HORRIBLE, i was so self conscious. ruined a LOT of clothing. than discovered certain dry, and now 7 years later i still use it and wouldnt live with out it.
and YES u use it at night before bed. it will seal off ur sweat glands over the night. it can cause burning and itching, but if u use a blow dryer to dry it it wont itch as much.
i use it once every week or every other week now. everything is totally under control since i 1st used it. miracle product!
