I first used this mascara along time ago and HATED IT. With a passion it was terrible, it clumped and just looked so fake! A few mascaras later I discovered TurboVolumeExpress and was using that. The brush on that was huge and it was impossible to get into the corners of my eyes so I would sneak into my parents bathroom and grab my moms greatlash to use on the corners. To my suprise my eyelashes looked GREAT! Amazing, perfect, they were so long and spaced out (I use an eyelash curler/and comb also) there was no clumps...they looked great. They only problem was it wasn't waterproofed and smudged alot. I got the waterproof version and was a little disappointed. I find it clumps a bit more and is IMPOSSIBLE to get off, yet it still smudges on me! Overall I'd have to say this is a good mascara and before I never understood how anyone could like it, but its cheap and gives great lashes!

This mascara is horrible!!!... My mom came home with it one day because she found it on clearance, it was Great Lash Mascara in Soft Black [Waterproof]... so she said here ya go... and since I needed new mascara at the time, I didn't hesitate to use it. I guess I never used it that much to really think much of it.. however I recently got Lash Exact by Covergirl and Eye Magnifier by Rimmel and after using those two brands I realize just how horrible Great Lash by Maybelline really is. It clumps like you wouldn't believe.. I spent like 5 minutes trying to get the clumps smoothed out with an eyelash comb.. and even then, you could still tell that the mascara was less than decent. Secondly, It flakes like crazy... And made my eyes itch. I could only stand it for about an hour before I took it off. So save your money, please..

AWFUL MASCARA! It smears, clumps, crusts, smudges, flakes, cakes, its gluey, gummy, sticky, filmy, and did I mention crusty?
Like others have said, why does this crap get so much hype? Magazines say "models use it" etc etc.. I bet they don't because its dreadful- really gloopy, dry and so doesn't do what it says it does. I had high hopes for this and was staggered to find how truly dreadful this product was. It was so dry and crusty and when applied to my lashes they all clumped together and it made a horrid dry crusty mess, there was no thickening and no lengthening going on at all and it all flaked under my eyes after about an hour- avoid like the plague!!

I hate how this mascara is always featured on beauty segments on various talk shows (The View, Good Morning America, The Ricky Lake Show, etc..) So many people have ended up buying this mascara with high hopes only to be dissapointed because of these beauty segments. I wonder how much Maybelline spends on bribing talk shows and magazines to feature their mascara. They claim it's the best mascara in the world. It's horrible. It's dry and irritates my eyes.

Why does this get awards? On me, this mascara smudges, flakes into my contact lenses and clumps horribly. For the record, my natural eyelashes are very average so I can't understand why this happens. I have bought this in the past when I've run out of my Lancome mascara with the same crappy results each time. I thought all drugstore mascaras were this bad until I experimented with other companies. If you want a drugstore mascara, try Max Factor Volume Couture in rich black-it's terrific. I'm baffled as to why any makeup artist would use Great Lash.

I don't like this mascara because I think the brush sucks for my lashes.

I dont understand why not many people like this product. I LOVE this mascara. For the price, one shouldn't expect it to work a miracle.I would have to admit that it doesnt make your eyelashes long and thick like it does on the mascara commercial models, but if you just want a natural looking, light feeling mascara, this is the one for you. I use it regularly to work and i havent come across any problem with my eye. :)
I light the dark brown one coz i use it for day time.

Of course when i'd go out in the evening or if i'm all dressed up for something else, i'd use my lancome. :)

crappiest mascara ever. i have no idea why it gets rewards. i dont care how cheap it is, it sucks!

I am disappointed with this mascara. It claims to be the best and always gets numerous awards, but to me it is far from it. I always get clumps and it doesn't seem to last that long. I finished a tube in less than a month...how is that possible? I have a mini Clinique mascara that has lasted me longer than that. Not impressed.

I used this stuff for a long time because it's so cheap, and everyone I knew always used it- my mom, my friends, my aunts, etc... Until I got older and figured out that I need more from a mascara, and that there are other brands available.

I am very fair-skinned with naturally blonde hair. That means my eyelashes are invisible without mascara. This mascara gives my lashes a tint, but does not thicken, lengthen, define, etc. It's just... a little watered-down paint to darken your lashes. Similar to Neutrogena's Lash Tint.

So if you're looking to create lashes, like I am, go for something else. If you have naturally long, thick, medium to dark lashes, this may be perfect for you!
