I love this sunscreen under my makeup or by itself. I know it's technically a primer, but it's one of the few SPF's I can tolerate on a regular basis. Doesn't cause breakouts or irritate my sensitive skin, also not shiny at all. Expensive considering you're only getting 1 oz. per bottle and go through it quickly, but for me it's worth it.
I LOVE this! After reading too many scary articles about oxybenzone I decided to switch to a physical blocker and picked this based on the MUA reviews. I'm so glad I did!! This makes my skin so much softer and is a great base for makeup. And the best part? No oil slicks or breakouts! Not to mention the good sun protection. The only thing I dislike is the awkward packaging. It won't stand up straight and it's very difficult to squeeze so it's kind of a pain to get the cream out when you near the end of the tube. I wish it'd come in a larger (squeezable!!) tube, but the product lasts me a good 5 or 6 months so I guess I'll live with it.
I'm almost through my second tube and about to purchase the third. Highly recommended!
I have just purchased this for the 2nd time - it actually lasted longer than expected, considering the size of the packaging (have used it almost every day for 4 months).
Now I have run out, I have really noticed what a difference it makes. Make up goes on smoother and stays put for the rest of the day. It hasn't caused any breakouts. I haven't had a chance to test the SPF as I live in Scotland and there isn't much sun here anyway! :p
To get the best from this product, I would advise using only a very small amount each time and allow it to sink in properly (takes a few minutes). I will definitely ve buying again - only thing is the price (took 1 lippy off for this).
I heard great things about this working well for oily-skinned people. I did not find this product to help keep me be less oily at all. It did make foundation application go a bit smoother, but within a few hours I am just as oily as I would have been had I not used this product. This also caused some minor breakouts.
The primer also seperated into a white cream and an oily substance. I mixed it up very well before application, but could never get the oily substance and the cream to combine well.
Overall, I expected more for $28, and definitely do not think it is worth the money. Perhaps it would work better on someone with combination to dry skin. Try a sample before you buy if at all possible.
Loved this for soooo long. Sadly the new formula made my skin burn and break out. No longer hg.
I really like this - with the spf so high, I'm finding that my freckles are disappearing and my skin tone is evening out. My face never rebelled and everything is a lot softer. I'm still a bit oily at the end of the day, but no where near as bad as I have been with other products.
I just wish that it came in a pump. I find the tube to be a bit of a pain.
I absolutely LOVE this product! I purchased this mainly b/c of the SPF 50. I have oily skin and have tried several different sunscreens but they always felt greasy or made me break out. This stuff actually helps to control the oil and that is an amazing bonus! It is a little pricey but it's definitely worth it.
I went into my MAC store for a new bottle of the usual prep and prime face which i was really happy with but had run out of.
The MA recommended the SPF 50 one as it's better for your skin and i got sucked in which i told myself i wouldn't do.
She said it was the same price but it's not it's more expensive but i didn't really mind.
This primer is much thicker than the usual p+p which i don't like and feels alot heavier on my skin.
It was nice to try it but when it runs out i'm going back to the usual p+p.
Purchased this about three weeks ago. I am a big primer and foundation junkie so it only made sense that I tried this. I have used MAC's other Prep+Prime Primer in the past, it was actually one of my favorite and it still is, but I just got suckered into venturing out and trying other lines. With that said, I have to say that I really like this one. I have combination/oily skin (oily t-zone mostly) and this has really helped keep that under control. I also have big pores on my cheeks and this has helped minimize the appearance of that, too.
A reviewer below mine (3 reviews down) has said that this actually only a "prep" for the skin; only used to prep for foundation and is not really a primer (I guess that's what she meant?). I beg to differ. It says right on the bottle: Prep+PRIME. So yes it is indeed a primer which helps smooth out the skin, amongst other things, prior to makeup application.
My only other gripe about this primer is the fact that although it does have an SPF of 50, I don't think that it would be a good idea to use this being dependent on that. In order to get the actual SPF 50, you would have to use about a teaspoon of this to cover your entire face in order to get the said protection. And at 30ml a bottle, that's just not ideal. So be sure to still use a sunscreen prior to applying this primer. Also, I wish the bottle was not an opaque black. It would be nice to see when I'm running low on this stuff so that I wouldn't get caught without it. I had to take one lippie off because of that. Overall, I love this stuff and would continue to repurchase.
I bought this at a CCO so I did not pay the full price for it, which I'm happy about, but now its finishing and I really like it alot, so I have got to re-purchase, I like the fact that this product has alot of SPF and it really does help my makeup stay on for longer.
Okay, I'm a bit confused. Everyone seems to be reviewing this as a primer. In actuality, it is a "prep" for the sun, to be used AFTER using Prep + Prime Skin. This is not designed to have any effect on the wear of the makeup. It is mostly for the SPF skin protection. That being said, I like this product. I use it on days that I "fake and bake" because I don't want to damage my facial skin any more than it already is. I apply moisturizer, then my Smashbox primer. After that dries, then I apply this, and then my Studio Fix powder. I love that it is not heavy on my skin. I agree with a review below about it's tackiness which tends to hold onto powder foundation. I would repurchase, unless I found something that I liked better for less, as it's a bit overpriced for basically a sunblock. Oh, and I don't know if mine is a fluke, but mine smells like new rubber. I LOVE the way MAC's face products usually smell (Fix+, moisturizers, etc), but sadly this is missing that smell.
