I was semi-impressed with this stuff. While it doesn't give a whole lot of coverage, it is pretty good to use on your "good skin" days. I accidentally bought mine about a shade too dark, so I only use it on days when I feel that my face needs a bit more color. It lasts about all day as long as I'm not touching my face all the time (which I have a habit of doing). I really think the effectiveness of this foundation depends on your skin type. On good days, it helps my face stay matte. On bad days, my oil shines right through. I'll finish this bottle but probably move on to something else after it's gone.
This was the first foundation I ever used, not being used to using foundation I found it nice, it covered my redness and my blemishes ... for about an hour. It doesnt last long, it makes your skin super oily and it has a funny smell to it, definately not suitable for oily skin as the packaging suggests! There are much better foundations out there, you may have to pay £2/3 more but its worth it!
The only thing I feel not so perfect about this foundation is the coverage - not super - but that's because it's very light. It does a great job evening the skin tone.
It is amazing that people have so different response to this foundation. I believe that's due to the diversity of our skin types. I never broke out after this though I tend to here and there. It goes on light, smooth and streakless on me. I am not at all a makeup pro, but this thing is really easy to apply nicely. Just a sponge wedge and a few dabs and in one minute I am done with foundation step.
As for the shade, I was lucky to get the right tone at one shot. I am medium among Asian and 102 (nude) suits me greatly in summer. The mineral powder I use (which I love) shows a slightly "faking" effect on me, but this foudnation does not at all.
Again, it's light and kind of thin in consistency. I now learned to open the tube with the opening up to avoid spilling. It's very low priced so as long as I cleaned the bathroom tile in time, I don't care that little loss of the foundation.
Will definitely repurchase. But it's gonna take a long time for me to finish all my current stock including another Rimmel that I have not tried yet.
UPDATE: Though the first 1 didn't "mattify" to any extent, it was totally toleratable. The 2nd tube started to make me super oily. I gave it up. I moved on to Rimmel's Renew n Lift.
This has to be the worst crap I've ever tried to put on my face.
It streaked, came out of the tube packaging way to fast, and wasn't anything even remotely resembling matte.
everyone is ight about it being non matte, its full of mineral oil!
ive used this product the past few days and was greasy only a few hours after application, even with powder.
i turned the package over and found out a big ingredient was mineral oil. while this wont clog pores, it obviously makes the skin more oily.
i wouldnt but this again soon, perhaps in the winter when im more dry.
I love this stuff! It's very cheap, less than $4 USD here. It gives nice medium coverage. I bought Warm Honey and Porcelain to use as contouring/highlighting/bronzing shades, and they work very nicely to give my face a naturally fresh look. I'm so glad I found these, they are the best drugstore foundations I've ever tried!
This stuff is awful. It streaks and there is no way to rub it in. Left my face feelilng greasy and oily. Matte? They must be joking.
I haven't used this product in a while (I no longer do the matte look, it looks too fake on me) but when I did, I loved it! Gives the skin a nice, natural matte look and isn't greasy or drying. A light feel on the skin. Packaging is fine, but nothing special.
I just bought this foundation and as soon I tried I loved it. Though it isn't as matte as one would expect, I find it perfect for my skin. I have tried other brands (much more expensive) and this one beats most by far.
I realise that most people hate this product, but im one of the few who loved it! Its definately not a matte makeup (i use Loreal Ideal Balance for the perfect matte look) more of a tinted moisturiser. I usually use Loreal Ideal Matte and was happy with it for a long time - even wearing it on my wedding day. But during winter my skin had dried up quite abit and i noticed that the Loreal makeup was sticking to the dry areas and going very patchy - not a good look! I used a makeup primer but that didnt help either so.. i asked my mum what she used (she's 62 and has the skin of a 20 year old!)and it was this! So i decided to give it a go and at £4.99 i thought, what the heck! As i said before this is definately not matte but is perfect for that "dewy" look. I have oily/combination skin which goes dry in winter, and this did not cling to any dry areas at all. It made my skin look about 5 years younger (and at 25, thats still a plus :D) and stayed on most of the day (i had to touch up on chin and under eyes a couple of times during working hours).
The big plus for me with this makeup is that after 1 week of using it, it hasnt broken me out, and my skin is definately smoother and softer to the touch - without makeup! I didnt realise it at the time but i guess the Loreal makeup must have been causing some of the bumps on my skin, as they are gone now and i havent changed my beauty routine apart from this! I have suffered from Acne as a teenager and have some large pores on my cheeks, but this makeup covered them up nicely and gave a lovely glow. I also had the problem before of my makeup going on my coat collar but this doesnt seem to come off on necklines or jackets at all.
I would recommend this to those with dry or combination skin. Although i don't think ill be using it in the summer months as it will probably slide off quite easily. A find for the winter!
