Its kind of hard to tell if this product does much to help my skins condition -- it certianly doesnt do any harm though. I find it provides more of a placebo effect, i really WANT it to work on my skin so i kind of convince myself that it does. For now i'm just using up the bottle. I guess the real test will be how my skin reacts when i STOP using it...
For anyone thats been to a dermatologist (like I have), this cleanser is recommended the most. As, it doesn'ty compromise the skin's moisture barrier. And, its ingredient listing is one of the shortest you will find.
I am currenty a Retin-A user. This cleanser is always being recommended to be used in combination with such more than any other cleanser on the market. But, I simply don't enjoy using this stuff to cleanse my face with. Even though it doesn't have any added fragrance to it, it still has somewhat of a chemical smell to it. Also, it doesn't rinse cleanly from the skin either. And, it never feels like its actually cleansing my face at all.
I have tried to like this cleanser so many times. But, its just not for me. I have found that using a mild, non-irritating gel based cleanser is better for washing my sensitive, combination/oily skin with than this stuff.
I bought two huge bottles from Costco because it was really inexpensive (especially with the $3 discount coupon). I use mineral oil to remove my water proof mascara so the Cetaphil doesn't remove the oil from my skin. Because of that, I've continued using Clean & Clear for night facial wash and Cetaphil in the mornings.
One thing I don't care for is that it does not lather...I'm just used to having lather to feel the cleanser work. Maybe it's just something to get used to.
Since I have two gigantic bottles, perhaps I'll have to try the wipe off method instead of with water. Hopefully that does a better job for removing makeup! continued >>

This product is okay but I can only use it when I have worn little to no makeup. Definitely does not remove eyeliner very well. Might buy again.
I wish this took off makeup, but feels nice on my dry skin. It doesn't irritate, and my skin doesn't feel as dry after I wash it.
I used this cleanser for over a year & finally realised that it was too drying for my combination skin. It is better than the soap cleanser I had used before, but still not gentle enough. continued >>
Love this stuff. I don't wear foundation, so I don't have a problem with it not removing makeup, as some others have commented about. This cleanser was recommended by my derm for my rosacia-prone skin. Makes my skin feel soft and clean, not stripped. I buy it at Costco when they have their 2 for 1 pkg for sale with coupon, making this a very inexpensive cleanser. Best of all (for me) is NO FRAGRANCE!!
I bought a big bottle of this at the drugstore because several of my friends use it. I have dry skin; found it just didn't work for me. My skin felt tight and dry. I was disappointed because I loved the idea of in inexpensive cleanser that is so easy to use. Oh well! Another one, sort of the sister product, was Lubriderm. That didn't work for me, either. Didn't provide enough moisture for me. Made my friend happy, though. She got both big bottles.
This is a staple in my skincare regimen. It doesn't irritate my skin. In the beginning it took a while to get used to the non-foaming action that I was normally used to, but now I love the texture of it. Even though I use the Proactiv skin routine, I still use Cetaphil to wash my eye area since you have to avoid the eyes with the Proactiv cleanser. With the exception of waterproof makeup, I find that it does a good job of removing eye makeup, especially if used without water and wiped off. HG all the way.
