I had this product with 3 step. Used alone, it may have been acceptable.
A standard soap, nothing out of the ordinary. It is mild, but it's too expensive to be so ordinary.
I love, love this. I had been using the acne-solutions line previously, and it totally wrecked my face; tight, dry, peeling, all-around yech. But after the first night I used it- wow. It has started clearing my skin right up, in just two days!! The only con to is it that around my mouth (where the acne-solutions cleansers made me break out) it's still a little dry, but that's nothing my Moisture Surge can't fix. It's just a very basic cleanser, it does what it's supposed to, not fuss or frills, but it really is a great product. (And it's cute, another plus.)
I was looking for an alternative to my normal cleanser (Paula's Choice, which you have to mail order) and decided to try this one since I have used the Extra Mild version in the winter w/ no problems. This is basically the same as Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash: clear liquid, little to no scent, lightly lathering, basic, no-nonsense liquid cleanser. However, while many people find Purpose to be drying, I've never found it to be that way on my normal-combo skin. Clinique, unfortunately, did. Big time. My face felt tight, dehydrated, and peeled in the most unattractive way. My skin also didn't look as calm and even as it does when I use PC's cleanser. As soon as I stopped using it, my skin started to go back to normal. The only reason it got a 2 instead of a 1 is b/c it's unscented and I like the seafoam green, "frosted" bottle packaging (w/ an easy-to-lock top).
This does a good job at cleansing without irritation for my sensitive combo skin without drying it out. However, I find that there are drugstore cleansers that do the same job for less money, nothing extraordinary here. Good cleanser (at a decent price point) if you must have a department store brand.
My mother compared this to dish soap. She said it left her skin feeling very tight and flakey. I thought she was exaggerating until I tried it. I had to wash my face 2 times just to get the makeup off and my face was left excessively dry. This formula is pretty much the opposite of mild IMO.
This is a great gentle fragrance free cleanser that removes makeup well without making my face tight or dry. I have combo acne prone skin and I alternate this with the proactiv system because I find that cleanser does not remove makeup well enough. You get a large amount for a good price.
Edit: Removed two lippies because I now find this too drying. I have switched to Cerave foaming cleanser.
Although I have very oily skin, I really like the Mild Liquid Facial Soap. I tried the version for oily skin but found it to be too drying. This stuff does a great job of removing make-up without stripping my face or causing break-outs (I only use this cleanser at night). I also like the pump dispenser. There are probably better and/or less expensive alternatives out there for liquid cleansers, but I've had good luck with Clinique skin care products (I've devised my own 3-step program that I'm pleased with), so I'll stick with this. One bottle does last a while and I'm willing to pay more to have nice skin. Will repurchase.
Got this initially as a GWP w/ the Clarifying Lotion & DDML (as 3 step system). It works well even to remove make up. I actually like that it's not too sudsy and the smell is not very noticeable either. My only problem (and it's rather large) is I find that I can't use it every time I cleanse my face, which is usually in the morning & before I go to bed, because if I use it that often it DOES dry out my skin. I have to use it only once every couple of days - it dries out my skin after regular use so bad that I get that tightness in the face that happens when you're really dry. I figured this would be okay for everyday use but it's not. I have dry/oily skin to begin with on my face, so I can see how this could work for people with other skin types, it just didn't work for me. I think I'll stick to my J&J Head-to-Toe Baby Wash - it's way less drying, a lot cheaper, and cleans my face nicely. continued >>
I got this as a sample when buying my gel lotion. I have combo skin oily tzone and normal cheeks, this worked fine in removing makeup, dirt and etc. It was not drying at all for me, it is a good everday cleanser. But I will still keep searching for that HG cleanser.
I got the sample size as a GWP and decided to give it a try. It gets my skin really clean and removes makeup really well. My problem with it is that it really dries me out. I've been noticing dry, tight, flaky skin around my mouth since I started using it, and that is unusual for me as my skin is quite oily. I won't be buying this.
