I don't understand all the negative reviews, to be honest. I find this mascara neutral; it's not too heavy, but it definitely shows up on the lashes. Of course, it doesn't do wonders to the lashes, but it's good for casual occasions on which you don't want to look like you have any makeup on.

As much as I like it and defend it, I will not be repurchasing. It's not terrible, though.

Lmao at the reviewer who said Maybelline should change the name to "Fisher Price My First Mascara"! I agree! I would barely recommend this mascara to a middle schooler! Why in the world does this mascara have such a great reputation? At CVS this mascara has about 6 different versions in the Maybelline mascara section, which baffles me b/c Maybelline has incredible mascaras that are significantly better such as One-by-One, Falsies, and Define-a-Lash. I've used 3 different versions and didn't like any of them. It neither lengthened, separated, or volumized my lashes! Seriously, can I get at least one of these things?! Don't waste your $5!

This stuff stinks... I don't get why everyone raves about it. It does have a light formula but why would anyone want that.

Maybelline Great Lash should be called Fisher Price My First Mascara. This was the first mascara I used (many years ago). I didn't know any better, and I thought that the look that this mascara provides was how any mascara would look. The formula is very wet. It doesn't provide any length and very little volume. It caused my lashes to clump and look like I had a total of three big stuck together lashes. It doesn't hold a curl, and it is one of two mascaras that I have used (out of many) that smudged. Every so often I would buy this again (cheap thrill) after seeing it in yet another beauty magazine winning yet another award for being the best mascara....I would try desperately to make this work and wonder what I was doing wrong (since it gets so many awards and is featured in so many magazines). It always looks the same...awful.

I used this mascara for a long time. So many people dislike it, but I had no problem with it when I was younger. It's a simple mascara with a simple brush. Great starter or learning mascara. If you're someone who likes a lot of coats of mascara and full looking lashes, this is NOT for you.
As I got older I started using more and more mascara and moved on to the "Lots of Lashes" Great Lash. It's the same cheap price and worked well with my lashes. The triangular silicone brush helps to comb the lashes, it separates and lengthens and allows you to apply a lot of coats. If you're looking to buy great lash, I recommend to buy the lots of lashes formula. It is definitely a better mascara. Also try to buy it at Walmart or Target because it's cheapest there instead of Shoppers. (Canada)
If you are not someone who wears mascara often - and only uses a little bit when you do - Great Lash is a perfectly fine, cheap mascara.
I use Telescopic Carbon Black now. If you like super lengthened, separated lashes with lots of coats, TRY IT. I have tried so many and It's my favourite. The small brush takes a while to get used to, but it's worth it. I get so many compliments on my lashes.

I'm probably the last person on earth to try this stuff because it's been around forever but there was always something about the packaging that turned me off from it. But it seems that alot of women swear by this stuff so I finally caved in one day and bought some just to see what all the fuss was about. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. I do like that the brush is the older style of bristles instead of the new silicone style because that's just what I prefer so that was a big plus for me and I really like the way it looks on my lashes because it looks more natural (no clumps & it doesn't go on too thick or cakey) but my only complaint is that it runs & smudges REALLY easily. It must be a very water soluble formula. So for example if you sneezed or something and your eye's watered even just a tiny bit this stuff runs like crazy and gets everywhere. I bought the regular formula in this, not the waterproof. I never buy waterproof because it's usually so hard to remove without losing some lashes in the process so I tend to avoid those but this takes it to the extreme opposite. Really disappointed. I'll probably use up what's left of the tube I have but I won't repurchase it. I just hate the way it wears. continued >>

I tried this mascara years ago and didn't like it, although I couldn't remember why.I decided to give it another chance when an Ulta opened here and this mascara was on sale for $2.
It was a waste of $2.
The mascara doesn't clump at all on me and I do like that.
BUT it does NOT hold a curl. At all. It is, in fact, the anti-curl. It immediately takes the curl out of my lashes. This is a huge dealbreaker.

This was the first mascara I tried. I was 10 years old and my mother swore by this mascara. I didn't personally have an opinion on it but my mom always had like 5 eyelashes because they were always clumped together. I didn't know if it was due to the mascara or her application of it.

Anyway, I purchased this a couple of years ago out of nostalgia. I would not say that it's horrible or the worst I've ever seen. I would say it's .."blah". I don't have super thick or super thin lashes, they're pretty average. The mascara is probably good for someone that just wants their lashes to look darker and totally natural. I expect my mascara to do something for me and I was pretty disappointed with this. I think this mascara is about the same effect as dying your eyelashes.

I have tried this mascara a few times. I don't know why. I know makeup artists swear by this product, but I just don't get it. The brush stinks, the formula is meh. The only thing good about the product is the pink and green packaging. Buy something else!
