Like a lot of other people i love the gold shade but i am not crazy about the purple which is not very pigmented so i use the gold with the purple from the Wicked duo wich is deeper and works better with the gold. But overall is great and i will buy it again.
To be honest, I bought this solely for the purple, and it was a disappointment. The purple side of this duo doesn't work for me at all. On the other hand, the gold is really pigmented and goes on smoothly, which really surprised me. I wish the purple side worked better though.
I pulled this out again to play with and fell in love with it. I use the golden side on the inner corner to mid lid, then do use the purple side to put down a bit of colour. I use MAC Stars 'n Rockets over that with MAC Fig. 1 in the crease to give it depth. I have tried the same without using the purple side of this duo and the effect has not been as pretty, even though by itself the purple is a very disappointing colour! It makes for a very bold and pretty eye!
The gold is a lovely color and highly pigmented. The purple is a light wash of matte color. Which I know a lot of people are disappointed with, but I feel it goes well with the gold. It makes it look not too over the top when worn together.
Its my favorite HIP duo. I would get it again.
I bought this duo a LONG time ago. I love anything purple so that said I was really looking forward to using the purple side of this. today i wore it without any base or primer (applied with a brush). the color was just a WASH of purple. it seemed chalky and not very pigmented. 3 hours later it was GONE (did not touch my eyes). the gold however applied with a lot more color payoff and it was not chalky but it too dissappeared.
in the past I used the purple over primer and packed it on (scraping it with a brush and picking up the dust, than packing it on my lid). the color was rich but hard to blend. it also creased after few hours. I also applied it with my finger- also a great result, but again- it creased even over UDPP.
would I recommend? NO. there are much better purples out there.
Love these shadows. Great pigmentation, try applying wet. Packaging is good, has a little mirror/brush at bottom that i don't need so if they got rid of that it would be better. i apply with fingers when i do it dry because i find the color to go on my lids better and richer than with a brush
I tried the purple shade in many different ways and found that a good way to get more color payoff is to wear it over a cream eyeshadow... I applied Estee Lauder's Double Wear Cream Shadow in Sea Mist (a shimmery mint green/teal shade) to my lids then applied the purple to the outer corners... Blended it well with just a touch of the bright gold shade in the center for a pretty gleam when I blink... The end result was gorgeous and mermaid-like (if that makes any sense!) Definitely worth a shot if you like to experiment with fun shades :)
Love, love, love the gold, hate the purple. So hard to control and no payoff. Bleh.
Purple is a of a terrible quality - barely any payoff even with UDPP and coverup underneath.
Gold is VERY pigmented but seems to float around on the face after applied to the eyes - even with UDPP or other tacky primers.
Packaging was a total rip-off b/c, as mentioned by other reviewers, you don't get a lot of product since there is a pretty big compartment for the applicator and mirror.
For sensitive eyes, L'oreal has been very disappointing :(
Not buying again.
I AGREE WITH THE 2 REVIEWS BELOW ME MINUS THE PIGMENTATION ON THE GOLD BECAUSE THE GOLD IS SO PRETTY I FEEEL LIKE A STAR WHEN I WEAR IT ...I LOVE IT BUT THE PURPLE IS NASTY AND MATTE AND JUST DONT MATCH THE OTHER COLOR ....I COULD SEE IF IT HAD SHIMMER OR WAS LIKE THE YELLOW BUT MATTE AND GLITTER DONT MESH WELL ....ITS UNEVEN AND JUST ISNT PIGMENTED IT SUCKS THAT THEY DIDNT COME IN 2 SEPERATE THINGS BECAUSE IT KILLS THE GOLD AND GIVES IT BAD REVIEWS WHEN OTHERS REALLY LOVE THE GOLD BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO BUY THIS JUST GIVE THE PURPLE TO MY SISTER
