I've recently gotten into lipsticks and have been buying loads. I tend to buy safe, subtle and neutral colours (and if I go crazy, plum), but today I needed a little pick-me-up after a crazy week at work. I went to MAC and decided I wanted a matte lipstick with a rich colour. I picked out Diva which is a wine colour (the boldest I've ever gone so far). I asked the MUA to try it on me with a suitable liner. She chose Currant. Initially, it was quite a shock, because the lipstick is the brightest I've ever had on, but as the seconds went by, I started to really like it. It brightened up my face and made me look slightly mischievous. It felt as ifi was a different person altogether . My lips are quite plump, but they looked even plumper. I really like it and plan to wear it often. I think it may be a bit much for every day.

For reference, I am an NW45. Will purchase again :-).

Okay, I used to be a nude lippie girl. But once the twilight craze happened I started loving the sultry vamped out makeup looks. And DIVA is a great added addition to my collection of vampy lippies. It's a deep red color leaning to a burgundy/brown undertone.(don't quote me because I'm not good a describing colors, lol) but its not "ruby woo" red and it's not "media" dark. It's maybe in the middle of those two. Ok, let me stop trying to explaining the color :)

This review is to let u guys know that no matter what complexion u are, u can wear RED! Everybody can't pull off the same shade of red, but there is a red out there for everybody. . I personally think this will look great on ALL skin tones. I am a nc44/45 in Mac foundations and this color just makes me feel so sexy. It gives off a red lip without giving off the Jezebel vibe, that ruby woo gives me(ruby woo is my hg red). I will say it is drying but who cares, wear balm! And make it work!!!!! ;) I will def repurchase this when needed.

This is a classic deep Maroon lip. And it fades into a beautiful natural deepish red lip-look. It is very unlikely for this colour to look bad on anyone, no matter what skin colour/tone, etc. A must-have color!

I went to mac looking for a deep red matte lipstick and this is what i found. Its not the most drying matte lipstick, which is good. And of course, has great staying power.

I don't hate this lipstick but when I apply it straight from the bullet it is extremely strong and a little harsh for me. In fact with my NC15/NW15 skintone I look a bit gothy!
However, when I slather my lips in lipbalm and apply using my fingers it looks rather nice. So, it's an average review for this one. I wouldn't buy again as MAC sweetie gives the same sort of look as I get applying with my fingers but I will use it up eventually

Diva is truly a magnificent colour, a deep, matte burgundy. It is somewhat reminiscent of the long last lip colours I used to wear in the 90’s – but Diva is modern and wearable (unlike the deep colours from the 90’s that were so very dry and cakey).
The colour is strong, yet adjustable. You can apply Diva lightly if you chose – but to see Diva in all its beauty a full application is needed.
Diva wears well – lasting a solid few hours before needing to be touched up, under ‘normal’ circumstances. I also found Diva to stay put – as I am getting older, some lipsticks bleed a little on me in certain spots on my lip line. Diva didn’t budge.
I don’t personally find the matte formula drying - maybe because I can still remember those old matte 90’s lipsticks, anything more modern feels fine. Some people might not like the feeling or the texture – I would suggest making sure your lips are well moisturised beforehand, making sure you give your moisturiser or balm time to absorb.
I team Diva with either a clear liner, or MAC Burgundy or Oak lip pencils.
It is a lipstick that you need to take your time applying - I always apply Diva very carefully with a lip brush. Diva isn't very forgiving of a rushed application.
My only gripe with this lipstick, is that it throws off a slight cool mauve undertone on my lips – the colour of Diva leans a little purple-burgundy on me. Regardless, it is still stunning.
Diva would suit a range of skin tones – I love it against my fair skin, blonde hair and green eyes. It makes my eye colour seem a little ‘icy’ and the contrast between my eyes and lips makes them both stand out even more.
I will continue to repurchase.
EDIT: My skintone - equivalent to MAC N/NC-10/15 (neutral warm, pale, with surface redness).

I am totally shy to lipstick. I'm mainly an intense-eye-makeup girl, but everyone needs a good red lipstick. I am NOT a fan or coral reds or bright reds. I have very fair skin with red undertones that, for the most part, are 99% uneven-looking. I wanted a good, dark, burgundy red. MAC does the trick, as always.

Diva is great because if you apply one coat, it looks less vampirish. It looks more brick red, but it's build-able and you can layer the color. I love the dark vamp burgundy lips with a cateye and this a great matte color. Better than Manic Panic or drugstore brands, imo. I don't even need lipliner. This stuff stays in place.

Everyone knows MAC lipstick is far superior to others, so I gave it a two on price. It's $10 but works and performs like it's 10x more expensive. Plus, I got mine for free with MAC's awesome "recycling program".

Sophisticated. Classy. Sexy. Modern. Versatile. You can wear it with dramatic eyes OR bare/neutral eyes.. because either way will look super bombshell. This makes your lips bigger. My only complaint is that it can dry out your lips.. but I think that applies to all matte lipsticks. I think this lipstick is underrated.. I wouldn't have bought this if I had shopped alone.. My bff told me that her good friend always raves about this particular shade. She's a blonde.. I'm a dark-haired asian.. and we can both pull it off. I think this is a universal shade. Will look perfect at work or at a cocktail party... like previously stated.. soo versatile.. just lovely

I was looking for clinique's black honey dupe, and I friend told me that I should try this shade. It isn't really a dupe, but she was sure I was loving the shade, and she was right!!!!!
It's a red burgundy matte lipstick, perfect for work days!!!! I use it with very natural e/s, and it looks wonderful in a pinup look -sort of Dita Von Teese style, which I love.
The first day I wore it, my husband told me I looked really good and so did the people at my job.
It's becoming one of my favorites!!!!
