I am the ultimate makeup junkie, and one of my favorites to try out are foundations. Because they are my favorites, I tend to be rather picky when it comes to being fully satisfied.
I have read many reviews that claim that these shades can either run darker than the shade you would normally purchase, or lighter than the shade. I didn't know what to expect when I purchased Ivory #805, which is the lightest shade in the 3 in 1 line. Also wanted to make a note that, this is the only foundation I have that has an expiration date on it too (kind of odd, I dont know if this is new or what?)
The foundation comes in the standard thick glass bottle with a blue plastic pump. I have to say, when it comes to packaging and foundations, I do prefer a pump to get the product out. I have not had any issues with the pump with this product. I haven't had it clog on me and it gets most of the product from the bottom so none is being wasted. If I had it my way, every foundation would have a pump, because for me, it's easy to control the amount of product that is released.
The texture of this foundation is creamy, with almost a liquid-y feel to it. It doesn't dry down quickly, so it isn't necessary to work fast when applying it. When It does dry down, it dries to a smooth powder-like finish. I haven't had any issues with it blending at all. Although it's suggested to use either a sponge or clean fingers, I very much prefer using a brush to apply this spicific foundation, and using a blending sponge around the edges to smoothen the lines up. If you are having trouble with blending, using your fingers would help a bit, by keeping the product warm and allowing it to spread more easily. Skin type also plays a role in this also, if you have dry skin this foundation is likely to dry quicker than on someone with more oily skin. Do whatever works best for you.
The coverage of this foundation is definitely on the medium to full side. On the face though, I've only used this at its medium coverage, and still even with that, it covers my flaws (eneven skin tone, mild roseasa on my cheeks) fairly well. If I were to use this as full coverage, every imperfection on my face would be gone- which is not to say I wouldnt look like a cakey mess, however, it can be done with this product.
Going through my typical day, starting from 8:30am to midnight, the wear time on this is nothing short of amazing. I haven't noticed any foundation break down during the day. Just a slight dewiness probably after 8 hours of wear, but definitely not an oil slick or anything. I can actually say that, I didn't need to set this foundation with powder to make it last longer- and that in my book gets five stars! You can always tell a good foundation when you dont need a finishing/setting powder to make it last through the day. This was one of those foundations.
Now that we know this is an excellent foundation, what about the other 2 claims?
1. Primer: I'm not terribly sure if I would say that this has a primer aspect to it. It does feel smooth going on, but I also wear primer under it to begin with. I dont think any product, whether it be foundation, BB cream or tinted moisturizer can take the place of a good primer. This is just my opinion. I tried using this product without primer and the foundation went on great, but my bronzer, illuminator and blush did not stay on like it would with a base primer under all of it.
2. Concealer: I'm on the fence with this. While the coverage overall is wonderful, I still prefer to use concealer, because in order to cover all my imperfections like a concealer does, I would need a thick coat of foundation, and It would be too heavy and cake like for me . So, I would say this is 50/50, it does tone down redness to blemishes and to any color on the cheeks, but not 100%.
Overall, In the past I've had issues with Cover Girl. Anytime I would purchase the lightest shade, it'd turn into a horrible disaster. "Ivory" would be 3 shades darker than my actual skin tone, and would oxidize terribly. With the new 3 in 1 foundation, in the bottle it does come across as looking darker, plus grey because there is SPF 20 in it, but going on the skin, I think it's a good match. The finish is beautiful, the lasting power is amazing. I can't say anything bad about this foundation, which really surprised me because I am not a HUGE fan of cover girl, and I was pretty skeptical. I was proven wrong, and for under $10, this product was worth every penny.

I reallyyyy like this foundation a lot. It gives a really nice finish- not too matte but not dewy, more of a satin. This foundation is comfortable on the skin and doesn't feel cakey like revlon colorstay. Be sure to blend quickly though because once it dries I find that it stays put and DOES NOT MOVE. I have worn this for 16 hours and found that I still looked good at the end of the day! Be aware, pick a shade or 2 lighter than your skin tone because it definitely oxidizes. Btw I love that this has a pump, and its a pump that is highly controlable too. Love this stuff

I recently ran out of my Revlon Colorstay foundation and since they've changed the formula (16 hr to 24 hr) it is absolutley horrible but ANYWAYS
I am in the shade Nude in revlon colorstay so i purchased the color classic ivory in the cover girl foundation (since the revlon was a tad too dark)
PROS:
-Pump bottle
-Dries quickly but not TOO quickly.. have time to work with it
-Dries MATTE which is amazing
-perfect for oily/combo skin!
-blends like a dream
-amazing coverage.. very comparable to revlon colorstay
CON:
-Oxidizes like no other. seriously went like.. two or three shades darker!
Other than the oxidization..it was perfect. Since I am in the process of tanning though, My skin will soon match perfectly so i'm alright with it for now!
I was so excited to try this foundation out, but was extremely disappointed when I finally got my hands on it. I have an extremely fair completion and this oxidized like no other. When I initially apply it it looked amazing. It has a great coverage, to the point where I didn't have to use concealer on minor flaws. But an hour or so into wearing it my face looked super orange. Also another problem I had is the undertone. I purchased the lightest shade but It has a cool pink undertone. My natural undertone is cool, so I like to use a warm undertone to balance it out. This makes my face look too on the pink cool side until of course it oxidizes. I was so extremely saddened by the results I received with this product. If you want to try it out and have a medium to dark completion, I say go for it. You could always get a shade lighter considering how it oxidizes. Hope this helped at least someone out there! :)
wanted to like this after hearing rave reviews about it on youtube. loved it at first, it lasted well, and then it changed on me. it oxidizes terribly - makes my skin look very dull, way too matte, and too dark/almost orange! looks cakey no matter how little of it I apply, and throughout the day I can almost watch my skin change darker on my face. I hate it! :(
Such a great and affordable foundation! Initially it matches my skin perfectly but it tends to oxidize a little bit within a few minutes so make sure you don't buy one that is already darker than your own shade. I found that the best way to apply it is using a beauty blender sponge or a generic foundation brush as it tends to look cakier if you use some other brushes (ie. Sephora's airbrushed foundation brush). It stays on all day, looks great in pictures, and does not break me out at all (and I have to admit I have slept with it on on a few nights).
I wanted to love this. I really, truly did. I watched all the videos on youtube with the gurus raving about it. I went out and bought it on my lunch hour yesterday, in the shade 810 Classic Ivory. For reference, I'm an NC15/NARS Gobi (fair with golden undertones) and have normal/normal-slightly combination skin. When I got back to work, I couldn't wait to get home and try it out, so I applied it on top of the Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream I already had on. It looked AMAZING. I was beyond in love. I was ready to go throw my bottles and jars of Revlon ColorStay in the trash can. The color seemed to match okay, if maybe a bit too dark, so I stopped at the store after work and picked up a bottle of 805 Ivory, thinking that might work better.
I had planned to take my son out to dinner last night, so I washed my face and applied the Ivory shade by itself. Looked like a wonderful match! My skin looked beautiful. All was well. Gradually though, I noticed my face was REALLY starting to itch... But my skin has been a bit itchy in general lately so I didn't think too much of it. Then just a few hours later, I noticed I had a small red bump on my cheek; the kind I get when my face is being irritated by something I'm putting on it. I had also applied a new CoverGirl blush that evening and hoped that was culprit. I did notice though that the itching stopped nearly completely after washing my face before bed.
So this morning I thought I'd really give it a fair try! I applied Ivory and went about my morning, making breakfast. I looked in the mirror in the natural lighting in the kitchen and saw that my face was horribly PINK. This didn't show at all in the artifical lighting, but in natural lighting - WOW. I also noticed my face felt a little tight and the itching was starting again. So I took my son to school, came back home, washed my face, and put on the Classic Ivory. Looked at it in natural lighting and it was too dark and peachy. So I washed my face once again and put on my beloved Lioele TTS BB Cream and gave up on the CG for now. I'm going to take the Ivory shade back but will keep the Classic Ivory to try again in the summer when I'm darker and my skin doesn't have the tendency to dry out so much. As for the itching, we'll see. I will update my review in a month or so when I'm able to try it again. I may also try mixing it with a lighter foundation or BB Cream to see how that goes.
So in short, the positives: Love the glass bottle with the pump! Why can't Revlon do this? This foundation really IS buildable to full coverage and has such a unique, flawless finish. Doesn't look cakey *unless* you have dry areas on your skin. Doesn't have an extremely strong scent, but I do smell something similar to the ColorStay smell, but much more faint. It also has SPF20, which is really impressive for a foundation! And the cons: Color selection - it seems like every shade has pink in it - especially the lightest shade, and not all fair-skinned people have pink tones! CoverGirl has never understood (or acknowledged) this. Second, I really don't see how anyone with dryish skin could ever wear this. Third, it irritated my skin, making it very itchy and causing visible signs of irritation.

This foundation lasts the longest of all my drugstore long-wear foundations. Colorstay pales in comparison with the new 3 in 1 foundation when it comes to long-lasting coverage. Oil control is fantastic and I find I only need to blot once or twice every 3-4 hours. My skin is oily and breakout prone, but this has yet to give me any problems. My only gripe with the line is that the colors run slightly pink and oxidize on my skin. I am about NC25 in MAC foundations and I'm currently using the shade Medium Beige in this foundation. It is a little bit pink, but it's fine if I contour in with bronzer. The packaging is a lockable pump with a clear cap, which is an A in my book.
Also, I don't feel like I need to powder after this foundation. It sets quickly to a demi matte finish that feels like powder on the skin. Overall, I would give this a 4.5 if possible. If only I could find a perfect color match...
I have 3 foundations that I rotate and this is one of them. I have YSL TE,
Rimmel Lasting Finish and this. I love all of them. I have this is color 810 and it's just a smidgen too light...but something only I would notice.
What I love about this foundation is that I could go almost all day without having to blot my very oily forehead which is otherwise unheard of. I like the finish.
It's thicker then my other foundations but I don't have a problem blending if my face is prepped. I like to use Soap & Glory Fab Pore scrub every 2 days to create that smooth surface beforehand.
If my face feels a bit dry from washing, I'll use a little bit of a silicone type primer first to help the foundation glide on easier...I use Monistat anti chafing gel for that.
I could give this foundation 5 stars but I'm trying to not dish out 5 stars too much...unless it's as perfect as it gets. And it does last all day on me....something that my YSL, as beautiful as it is doesn't. continued >>

First off, my skin is extremely acne prone and oily. I have been a huge Revlon Color Stay fan for years but heard so many good reviews about this foundation I figured I'd try it out. AND I AM IN LOVE
This foundation stays matte far longer than the colorstay and I also find that it doesn't look cakey or oxidize throughout the day. I only use one pump and it covers my whole face (even most of my acne scars and red spots). I still use my MAC prolongwear concealer on my dark acne scars but that's to be expected:)
If you're a fan of Revlon Color Stay, definitely give this foundation a try!
