I've always had a love/ hate relationship with mineral makeup. Either the color looks a tad too "ashy", or after a few hours I'm trying to scratch my face off. I've tried just about every brand...high end to low end. About 3 weeks ago I was checking out the BB website when I ran across the mineral foundation. I have tried a few BB products (a few meaning 2) and so I raised an eyebrow to try it. I read a lot of reviews on the BB website and on here since YT didn't have any to reference. I finally decided that I would try it. Hey, afterall it couldn't be any more of a disappointment than what I have tried before. The BB MUA was very helpful and I ended up going home with the color "Rich". The next morning I buffed it on...light coverage, color matched perfectly, felt light on the skin and most exciting...NO ITCHING! I ran my errands for the day and checked back in...coverage still there. It didn't wear on my nose where my glasses lie (which typically happens). After about 9.5-10 hours of wear my husband came home from work. He complimented me on my SKIN...SOLD! For reference I have dry skin and it didn't look powerdy or bring attention to any dry places, it's finely milled and buffs easily into the skin. Dosen't need to warm up to the face to get the actual color, dosen't oxidize, light coverage, somewhat buildable, no smell, feels light and breathable on the skin, looks like skin, no shimmer, sparkle or glitter, not matte. I also like how large the lid is...big enough to swirl a brush in without making a mess. It has spf in it...dosen't flash back in photography! My ONLY complaints are the shiffter and the price. Since I have tried other mineral foundations I knew not to pull the entire sticker off the shifter. I only pulled half off (exposing about 4 holes) and work from there. It still leaves a bit of a mess, but not too bad. Also, this is rather expensive. Most expensive mineral foundation that I've tried since it seems smaller in package than other brands that I've ran across for about $10 cheaper. I've been using a kaubki brush with this and it works great, however I personally wanted something with a little more control for a handle. I did recently purchase the BB Bronzer brush to use with this. It works wonderfully and I couldn't be any happier with my purchases! I got my sister into mineral foundation, and with her upcomming b-day I'm getting her this and the bronzer brush...going to convert her!
I was looking for a light to medium coverage mineral foundation, and I purchased this in shade light. It was a great match to my skin and looked very natural. I used a kabuki to apply, and it was quick and nearly effortless. Unfortunately the irritation from this product started about an hour after application. My face felt hot and itchy, and I quickly began to develop red, itchy bumps on my cheeks and chin. It is a shame because this is a lovely foundation with a natural-looking finish. I have pretty oily skin, and it held up pretty well and did not accentuate pores. Not sure what ingredient is the culprit, but it just won't work for me.
I bought this product (the Deep one) after deciding to switch to mineral foundations as I'd heard they were better for my skin.Prior to that I was using liquid foundation but it was starting to cause break outs.
I absolutely LOVE this foundation. It offers the right amount of coverage and makes your skin look so smooth and beautiful! The best part is that it looks so natural and really blends into your skin tone. I use this on top of Phillip's milk of magnesia - i use it as a primer (which does WONDERS for oily skin and creates such a perfect base for the foundation to hold onto). After applying my foundation and rest of my make up, I dust my face with Collection 2000 translucent powder, and my face looks completely FLAWLESS!! I kid you not, I have not gone a day where someone hasn't commented on the appearance of my skin!
The only con I would say about this product is the packaging. The sifter is very annoying but if used carefully, it's still perfectly fine.
Because I have rosacea, my skin get picky about what I put on it. I've used lots of MMUs... Iredale/Pur were my go-tos, but a little too cakey. Bobbi Brown in Ultra Light is great. Like the other reviewers mentioned, It is light coverage. The BB assoc showed me how to use a small velour puff to spot cover areas that needed more tending (and pointed me to a drug store to buy one for a buck). Genius! One point off for the shaker top that doesn't really dispense much powder.
First let me say I LOVE BB make-up, it works really well on my skin and always leads to compliments...however I find this product to have some pretty big cons that rival the pro's.
Light natural look that matches my skintone perfectly (I use extra light)
Quick and easy to apply
Unlike other mineral foundations I have used (mostly BareMinerals) doesn't leave my skin feeling 'cakey'
If I get a blemish it offers nowhere near the level of coverage I would like so I have to resort to my liquid foundation
The tub doesn't have a lock system so you can lose quite a lot of the powder if your not really careful (not great especially for the $$$)
I wouldn't buy this foundation again because I don't think the product is worth the price.
It is a mineral makeup that doesn't have full coverage. But I've personally used a lot of mineral makeup for sensitive skin (means, not BE) and this one is fine for sensitive skin. I have eczema and extreme sensitivity.
All my makeup is 100% organic, so when this doesn't cause any problem, it is a huge yay. For mineral makeup with the least ingredients, try Body Shop, only 4 ingredients.
Back to the product. It's the softest, finest mineral makeup that I've ever used.
And I am using Light, which is a tad too yellow / dark for me but that is the lightest in Singapore. I heard there's even lighter ones like Extra Light but I didn't see it here.
But since it doesn't cover much, I will use tinted moisturiser and concealer. But also because it is so fine, it just blends right into the skin. I really like this for the \texture and the fact that it doesn't cause problem for my sensitive skin. It is kinda pricey but till I find another, I might repurchase.
I generally use BE in fair. I am not sensitive to bismuth but BE does cause me to get pretty oily so I am always on the lookout for new mineral foundations that come in very light shades. I was matched to this foundation in 'Alabaster.' It was a pretty close match for me (about NW/N10) although it did seem a touch dirty looking (if that makes any sense) when I buffed it into my skin. So not a perfect match. This is a light to medium coverage foundation. I buffed and buffed and kept adding more but was unable to get the full coverage that I liked that I can easily get from BE in a few swipes. The one thing I did like about it is that it seemed to control my oily skin very well. I would not buy it again, but if you can find a match and like light coverage, this may be perfect for you!
The best loose powder I've ever had. Your skin will feel comfortable after apply this powder on you face. The SPF15 is a bonus. Apply it after using the sunscreen for maximum protection from UV rays. My skin tone is NC25 (for MAC foundation), but the Bobbi Brown SA suggested me to take the Extra Light shade. I thought it is a bit light for my skin tone. According to her, the Light shade is not available for Malaysia market. Hmmmm... I haven't check at the other.counter. But she's right. I can use the shade that she recommended. Caution, I must apply one layer of the loose powder. Otherwise, I'll look overdo because of the shade. I apply it with my MAC powder/blush 129SH or the MAC buffer brush. I think, Light shade suit be better. I've seen the Light to Medium shade, it's a bit darker for my skin tone. Anyway, I'm fine with Extra Light shade.
The finish on this is AMAZING! So natural no itch it's very light feeling when you wear it. I don't look like a greaseball like BE. No itch at all. I have fairly large pores on my nose this makes them disappear. I can't say that about any other mineral foundation. I'm a MAC NW15 and use extra light. It's me enhanced and I just love it!
BE made my face itch and I looked like the gold gal from James Bond movie. Jane Iredale was too cakey looking and drying. BB has none of these issues and I've used it most of the summer in light/medium shade and it was perfect. For winter I've switched to the light shade. It gives me a luminous look without looking cakey.... just a dusting of it over sun screen or tinted moisturizer works great! Since I'm older with dry skin, I have issues but this powder works without settling in my wrinkles and makes my skin look great.
