TERRIBLE.

When I first used this, I noticed that my pimples on my chin had gone down and I thought, great, this stuff is amazing.

But boy was I wrong...

A week in and my skin is the worst it's been in years. My cheek area where I applied most of this product has come up in several pimples. In fact, my whole face is very bumpy and very angry. I have stopped using this product and put it straight in the bin.

I had read there were different formulations of this. I just didn't know how different they are. I purchased this for my husband. The second night he used it, he woke up the next morning with a red forehead...as if he experienced a chemical burn. I told him to give it a few days and try it again. Unfortunately, it happened again. This wasn't cheap at $36, but completely useless. Its a shame they don't sell the french version in the states. I haven't read any negative reviews of that version.

When i started using this product I thought it was amazing. My pimples went away (1st week) but after a while it broke me out horribly. The reddish spots in my face didn't disappear after a couple of days it seemed to stay for weeks. It doesn't provide acne it almost give you acne. My skin became very sensitive. I used the bottle up and I switched to Mac studio fix moisture SPF 15 and I haven't had pimples since I used it (4 weeks now).

I bought this product as I'm sure a lot of people did after the lovely, Ruth Crilly and Tanya Burr went bananas over it. Tanya has dry skin and said that this helped a lot with her acne so I thought I'd give this a go. I really did not like this at all unfortunately. It dried out my skin....and it made me break out HORRIBLY! Like...huge cystic pimples all over my face. And it left huge dry patches which my foundation clung to really badly and just looked and felt horrible. I have no doubt that this is a good product but maybe not the best option for those with sensitive skin.

Updated March 25/ 2013:
This one is causing me allergy. the more I use it (twice a day) the more pimples I have. The kind of the tiny ones you get when you have cosmetic allergy. Buff said.
I have stop using it officially since yesterday. Now I have to go back to my Cetaphil only regiment until thins is calm down!!!!

--------------------------------
It certainly work for your acne prone skin, and it doesn't irritate your sensitive side either. However this product is not for moderate acne to severe one. Nor keeping new acnes from forming on super oily skin.
I switched from Locacid which is very efficient but dries my skin too much, even if it did not irritate my skin and this Duo did not live up to reputation. New pimples keep coming, and what else, I start having baclkhead on my nose which I never have in the last 28 years!
I'm using Effaclar Duo + Effaclar K nightly, and I am considering going back to Locacid or something else.

This is one of my favourite products. I have combination skin and sometimes my skin breaks out like crazy. I had tried lots of different brands including Clinique and I even went to the dermatologist who prescribed something really harsh for my skin. Nothing worked until in my desperate pursue of something that could tame my sudden breakouts I found this little cream. I decided to give it a try as my sister swears by La Roche Posay's sunscren and the price wasn't too high.
I was really glad I bought this product that has become one of my holy grails. Since I use it I just have up to 5 spots a month and they heal significantly quicker. Also after applying this lotion my face feels really smooth. I agree that it is an excellent makeup base, very light and slightly moisturizing.
I have also tried Effaclair K and I find it works exactly the same with the only difference that it is a bit more moisturizing and has 10g. less product than Effaclair Duo.
I have bought my second tube of this lotion and although it is not cheap it lasts around 3 months as you don't need to apply lots of product.

Holy Grail skincare(!) this is an absolute brilliant product. I've bought this for the 3rd time now and using it for months. After Lisa Eldridge mentioned the La Roche Posay brand I had a look and I thought I'd give this one a go. And really, I never came across something so effective.
My skin wasn't horrible, but I'd say it has been quite bad. I get the odd blemish but really it's nothing compared to what my skin was like. This Effaclar Duo cleared up my skin so much. I use the one made in France all over my face morning and evening. Mostly concentrating on the problem areas. If I feel like I'm getting a little dry I'll use another moisturiser though. But mostly, this is what I use. I can not think of a product I'd recommend more than this one.

I loved this product! It really cleared my skin out in a couple of weeks. I didnt see an immediate result as soon as I started using it but I did see the difference after the first two weeks. I must add I had hormonal acne and some cystic acne. I must mention the us and the european version are different as us has benzoid peroxide and the european doesnt. Honestly that is a relief for me as benzoid peroxide irritates my skin and makes me break out.
I will definitely buy this product again!

I bought this due to rave reviews online. I usually have clear skin but for the past year I've been breaking out with hormonal acne on my cheeks. I've tried many products but still suffer from persistent hormonal acne.

After using Effaclar Duo for a week, It didn't do immediate amazing results but it did control my hormonal acne moderately. However, I observed that my pores do seem smaller and overall skin texture improved significantly. On the third week after using Effaclar Duo, I decided to purchase Effaclar A.I to use it as a spot/area treatment. (I'm from Singapore and our local stores bring in the U.K version)

My routine : Wash face, apply toner, Effaclar A.I on my cheeks and Effaclar Duo all over my face as advised by the beauty consultant.
And my hormonal acne significantly decreased! I do agree with other reviewers that large cysts will take awhile longer to heal but it heals smaller pimples like a dream. I will recommend using both Effaclar A.I and Effaclar Duo together, which I felt that this combination works best. I've tried topping up A.I with other moisturisers and it didn't work as well for me.

Effaclar A.I heals my pimples well without leaving any scarring which is very true to their claims. However, I will not recommend layering A.I under makeup as sometimes I feel that it balls up slightly. However, Effaclar Duo works well under makeup. Along the course of trying out these products, I never felt that my skin is dried out at all which alot of acne products do. Great brand will be trying out more of the Effaclar range soon!

This product is amazing! It really got rid of my acne, and very quickly too. I have only been using for two weeks now, so I will update if anything changes but am definitely in love with this product! So much better than the clean and clear stuff, also since my skin is on the sensitive side most of these spot treatments will get rid of acne but give my skin a red patchy look because it is irritated from the spot treatment product. This however my skin had no problems with!

Oh I have oily to combination(only in the winter) skin and my skin is quite sensitive, and because of the oily-ness I obviously get some acne.
