I love this soap! I use it every night after removing my makeup, to ensure everything is iff my face. And I use it in mornings when I feel oily.
This soap has helped me with redness on my face so much. And I feel like when I use this, my breakouts appear to the surface more quicker, helping me to get rid of them faster.
Has an amazing smell to it, and I love how cheap it is for this bar of soap! Lasts for a longggg time.
I have been using this soap for a month on my face. I have acne prone, clog-prone skin that gets pretty oily. I use Paula's choice 2% bha to keep the clogs at bay. I ordered this soap because I heard great things about African black soap. This was very cheap. I ordered a bar from iherb for less than $4. Shipping was very fast. This is a relatively big bar of soap. It as a very nice, fresh, smell. It soaps up pretty nicely. It cleans my face very well, and leaves it feeling very clean and fresh. It does not dry out my face.I don't break out from this, but I don't think it exactly helps improve my skin either. It just leaves my face very well cleaned. Previously, I used PC's hydralight cleanser, which I really liked. However, I am going to continue using this soap because it performs just as well, and costs much less than your typical facewash. I also use this with my Clarisonic at night and it works very well with that as well.
Got this at vitamin shoppe (they do carry a lot of nubian heritage stuff)...and was excited to try this out. I read it initially on iHerb.com and seeing the glowing reviews I just had to run out and get it. First off my skin is on the oily side but gets dry very easily. The smell is divine, very unique and I was very skeptical about using bar soaps to wash my face but this particular one included shea butter so I didn't hesitate. The first few days my skin felt pretty good, nothing to write home about, but after using this bar soap everyday (once a day) for 2 weeks, I broke out in tiny bumps all over. Especially my cheeks where it is very sensitive to acne breakouts. I believe this bar soap is "too soapy" and i would not recommend as a facial wash.
Anyway I use this in the shower on my body now, I keep it away from my face (critical).. The smell is still good and it lasts for quite a while..makes for a good body exfoliater.
Did i already mention that it smells really good?
I'm not a big fan of bar soaps, but this stuff is amazing. I've tried so many things for my adult acne, and I saw a random blogger review it and thought "why not." I paid $4 or so for it at Whole Foods, and it's not drying and is helping clear up my acne!
I had high hopes for this soap after rave reviews about it clearing up people's acne, but once again I am disappointed. It didn't leave my face dry like a lot of others said, but it didn't clear up my acne. I noticed a slight slight improvement, but nothing to write home about--I have pretty moderate to severe acne, for reference. I used it non stop for about two months, and nothing. My face didn't purge or clear up really, just kind of stayed the same. After I noticed it wasn't doing anything for my face, I started using it on the rest of my body. It didn't clear up any acne on my chest or back and it made my legs and arms very dry and somewhat itchy. Smells great, but won't be repurchasing unless it is for handsoap only.
I bought this because it said it woul even out skin tone, well been using for about two weeks and haven't really seen a change in the department BUUUT!!! I love the natural smell and it made my KP feel super smooth!!! So that's a plus! I'll continue using it and see if it helps with my HIP an uneven tone
I have ordered this soap after reading reviews on iherb. I was very skeptical because we are used to think that using soap on your face is a bad idea. I don't know what exactly this black soap formula means, but it is very mild and cares about my acne prone skin. I have no blackheads or pimples left on my face after only few weeks of usage. I have oily skin which is however very irritating when I use harsh mass market cleansers. It is even gentler than a very gentle Avene Cleanance gel. It is cheaper to and has a very relaxing scent.
Even though it says all ingredients are organic, I'm still very sceptical about the palm oil. Most palm oil is farmed on what previously was rain forrest in South East Asia, and lots of Orang-Utan habitat is being destroyed because of it. So the palm oil might be organic, but could still be unsustainable. Also their website has no information about this.
The product itself is nice. It's cleansing and non-drying.I'm not a fan of the smell. It smells a little like gummybears to me.
I will nor repurchase because of the palm oil.
I remember my stepdad always had a supply of this soap, and we'd use them for our hands. If I knew that it was great for the face, I would've kept them well after being 9. xD We never used them for the face (or at least not me) but they always left my hands feeling soft and looking great.
So spread the word about the soap... and the butters (kudos to whoever got the reference) ;)
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!! I can not believe the wonders this soap has made for my skin. I started using it three weeks ago and I could see results after the first application. It controls perfectly the excess of oil on my skin, it is very exfoliant, it doesn't clog my pores at all and it has helped to get rid of the tiny pimples I've been fighting against for the last months. I used to suffer with cystic acne until I find out it was the cleansers with SLS what was causing it. I get rid of all the products I have with this nasty ingredient, and the cystic acne disappear right away (a couple of weeks). Since then, I still have small pimples that last just one day, but are very annoying, so I was looking for something to help with this problem. And I think this soap is the answer. The first days of use, it was a little bit drying, but after that, my skin fell in love with this miracle soap. I had tried the authentic black soap (bar and liquid), but I didn't like it because it was very harsh on my skin. The Nubian Heritage one contains aloe and vitamin E, wich make it very gentle. And I also love the natural fragance.
And if all that wasn't enough, the price is unbeatable. I bought it on iHerb for $3.27! You can use the code LOP266 at checkout to get a 5$ discount on your first order.
