Pros:
-Dewy, luminous finish
-Easy to blend
-A little bit goes a long way
Cons:
-Can accentuate pores
-Has a short wear time
This highlighter offers the same finish of a liquid highlighter, but in a convienent powder form. Its a great option for those who like to finish their foundation with powder. The finish offers a "dewy" look to the skin, without looking oily. Its super easy to blend out and the compact will last you a long time. It does have a couple cons, though. The texture has a tendency of accentuating pores, so you have to avoid the apples of the cheeks if you have larger pores. It also tends to fade slightly within a couple hours, so re-application might be required. But overall, its an amazing highlighter that makes achieving a dewy look very easy!

I like this product. I makes you look luminous! Looks lovely on cheeks, especially on top of blush. I've tried using it on my eyes, but sadly I get an allergic reaction. The colour is perfect, and the shimmer is gorgeous except I hate the GLITTER particles that you can see in certain lighting. Overall I would purchase again.
very very very good, pretty, and versatile hilighter. lasts forever!
cons: the glitters are a bit too big.

Soft and Gentle is beautiful champagne-silver shade that I think would suit all skin tones as it isn't overly white-silver it has a bit of warmth to it. There are definitely noticeable glitter particles throughout this highlighter, which I don't mind, its just a very exaggerated highlight that looks amazing in flash photography. I still use it during the day though just making sure I tap off the excess & use a small amount! Looks beautiful applied on your cheek bones, cupids bow, tear ducts or across the lid. It lasts pretty well, I've found I can get about 6 hours of wear until I don't see it on the skin anymore. When I use this in my eye area it doesn't disappear at all. For use on such small areas on the face, to me the $47 AUD I paid is worth it because you get so much product so its definitely going to take years to finish. continued >>

love the packaging, and how the product looks. it is a very nice highlighter for the cheekbones. it lasts all day. unfortunatley i no longer use this. it took me a while to notice that under natural daylight/sunlight, it has GLITTER. why would anything think a highlighter would need GLITTER!? i looked in the mirror in horror as i saw glitter all down my cheekbones. i never use this anymore as a highlighter, i was so embaressed. this is a good lid eyeshadow color though, so i don't feel TOO bad for spending $29 on this.
the texture itself is very finely milled, smooth, and pigmented. it's easy to blend, and i guess if you actually buff it in, the glitters can go away. but i'm not even gonna bother.
a dupe WITHOUT glitter would be stila kitten eyeshadow. yes it's an eyeshadow but it's a beautiful cheekbone highlighter, exactly like soft and gentle, without the glitter.
****EDIT**** Have been using this as a cheekbone highlighter and to stop it looking too glittery I use a really small brush to apply it (224.)
I bought this a few years ago when the MAC make up artist recommended it to me. I used it now and then as a cheek highlighter, and I have to say it gives a pretty glow. However it's a little too sparkly for my liking to go on my cheeks. However, this year my other half and I went on honeymoon and I took it with me as I tend to change my make up when I'm abroad. One day I was in a rush and instead of using my usual MAC naked pigment (I find pigments so messy!) for my lid wash I used this instead. I was instantly impressed! It looks GORGEOUS on my eyelids as an all over wash. I apply it heavily on the lid then with the left over product on the brush I sweep it up into my socket then up to the brow bone. It's like a pretty, shimmery nude colour. I've tried so many of MAC's different nude coloured eyeshadows, all finishes, and this one is my favourite by far. It looks great teamed with MAC espresso eyeshadow in the crease. Im not sure if it's supposed to be used on the eye area officially but I've had no problems whatsoever. It applies well, blends easily and there's not lots of fall out. Give it a go, you might be pleasantly surprised! X

This is my favourite highlighter and I have tried a few - liquid, creams, powders. I'm an NC20 and this is so flattering on my skintone. It doesn't add any noticeable colour, just pretty shimmer and glow. It's not very finely milled but I don't mind. I like my highlight to be noticeable and this is noticeable without looking like a glitter bomb. I wear it both day and night. Things like NARS Albatross and Benefit High Beam left me looking oily and the tones weren't flattering on my neutral skin, but Soft & Gentle doesn't leave me looking greasy at all. Just leaves gorgeous shimmer that glows when it catches the light. I use on the tops of my cheeks and down my nose bridge. It lasts all day/night without requiring any touch-ups and you only need a small amount, so the compact lasts forever. Great value for money. continued >>

$29 USD big cake you wouldn't have to repurchase for years if you're not a make up artist. I find that this highlighter has bigger chunks of 'glitter' that tend to look tacky if you accidentally applied too much. It also tends to look silver and in some ways plastic/fake if you accidentally apply too much, which is very easy too do because it is so concentrated. I use a small stippling brush to apply because using a powder brush tends to put too much on me. I've used other highlight powders such as napoleon perdis mosaic highlight which has finer particles and looks much more natural. I also like cream colour bases as highlight and strobe cream is good too.
I wouldn't repurchase this because it is so easy to get wrong. The value is good though; the cake is huge. Standard black mac packaging with clear top. I tried this as a eyeshadow today though and it is beautiful; but chicly glitter fell out onto my cheek.

Just another great product from MAC! Since I'm in my late twenties, I find that my skin is becoming dull and a little dehydrated/lackluster. This, on top of Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, brings back the glow to my skin. I apply it all-over my face, but it would definitely make a great highlighter as well. The Soft and Gentle color is pretty translucent and I'm very fair, so it won't make you look orange or anything like that. I used a Too Faced kabuki brush with it, and it applies flawlessly. It is a little pricey, but I'm sure it will last a long time.
To me this is not a "wow" highlighter. I thinks there is too much glitter and a little too much colour. I would like something more light diffusing and with much, much less glitter. More like Strobe cream in a powder.
From far away it does give a nice glow but up close it looks quite glittery, don't get me wrong, I love my highlighters but this one is a no go for me :( sorry MAC
