I purchased this shortly after it's debut onto the market. I had yet to become the discerning ingredient snob I am becoming today. I used both bottled in their entirety and had no desire to
For the first week I used this, it worked beautifully. My hair was shiny and SO easy to straighten with a blow drier. I was quite impressed.
However after about a week I experienced a paroxysmal effect. My hair became weighted down and oily and coated... AND CURLIER! Looking back, I'm sure this was a result of product buildup.
If you have great results with this line, be sure to use a clarifying shampoo once a week or only use this occasionally.
I've tried to just co-wash my hair with other conditioners but sadly that just doesn't work for my long hair. I have to shampoo and condition...Matrix sleek look is now my top favorite...I love the fresh scent of this and what it does for my hair is like a miracle. I would recommend this to anyone with long hair, curly hair, over processed hair, you name it...This stuff is what you need! It leaves my hair uber soft, and silky...I have less tangles and my hair is easier to style. The best price is the shampoo and conditioner combo for 30...That might be expensive, but to me it's better than buying and trying a lot of cheap stuff that doesn't work for me. Plus the big bottles last for a least 2 months ( and that's washing everyday)....It only takes a little bit of the conditioner for me, and my hair is to my waist...I like it more than Biolage or Bedhead..
*I didn't bother reviewing the shampoo because it's so basic that it wasn't even worth it to do so.*
Price: Dear sweet lord, is this expensive. I wanted to try it so badly, but the price for the normal-sized bottle is around $18. My only alternative was to try the little bottle for around $12.
Packaging: I love it. The bright orange is a great accent in the shower. The font placement is classy and aesthetically pleasing. The tab has a little indent that makes it easy to flip open.
Consistency: It has the consistency of a normal conditioner. Not runny at all, but not too thick.
Scent: BLERGH. It's a clean scent, but too floral for me. Not even an identifiable flower, either. Just... floral. It smells almost like grass. Not a fan. Luckily it doesn't linger like crazy.
Ingredients: They're pretty cosmetic. There's some shea in there, and some sort of "kernel," but it's mostly dimethicone. I'm not hating, though.
Performance: This stuff works pretty well. It doesn't detangle as well as other conditioners I've used, but it moisturizes without weighing hair down. After letting my hair air dry, my hair was still conditioned, and my straightener was able to glide through my hair with ease.
Overall: I don't dislike Matrix Sleek.look, but for the outrageous price tag on relatively decent results, it's just not worth it to repurchase. There are other conditioners that have had more successful affairs with my hair than Sleek.look. I love the packaging, but I won't dole out the dough for the bleh fragrance and and overall meh results.
This stuff is great, I got it B2B1 free at Ulta this week after looking for a replacement for my Redken All Soft that seemed to be weighing down my hair. Thanks to the reviewer who recommended this over Redken AllSoft.
I love this, it makes my hair smooth without weighing it down, which is huge for me b/c I have fine hair, but lots of it. My scalp is not really oily until day 2 without washing. This shampoo/conditioner combo made my hair easier to style and it left it looking healthy and shiny.
I am very happy with this product!
There should be no bad reviews on this, this stuff is my favorite shampoo and conditioner I`ve ever tried. The smell is incredible, sooo good ! Works well as a deep conditioner for me also. I can actually feel the difference rinsing it out of my hair if I leave it in for 20min vs. 3min. PS. for all you fine haired ladies just make sure you rinse your roots out well and your hair won`t be weighed down at all.
Loooovee it! This makes my dry, naturally curly, coarse Asian hair manageable. I use both the shampoo and conditioner together. Although it doesn't really support my curls much, the trade off for touchable, untangled hair is totally worth it.
I just wish they would come with a free pump instead so I don't have to wrestle with slippery humongous bottles in the shower.
UPDATE: 5 lippies DOWN to 3!!!
I bought a few more bottles at ULTA. Mom said this couldn't possibly be the same stuff since it didn't make her hair super soft like before. I tried it myself and it took FOREVER to detangle my natural wavy hair. I decided to compare the ingredient lists from new bottle and old bottle.
WTF? Where is the apricot oil? What is this crap? I spent so much money on these gigantic bottles and it's not even the same stuff!
What is going on?
Update: 15 May 2011: I've gone back to this conditioner in the last few weeks and doing great things on hair. It keeps my fizzy hair in nice and smooth. I've noticed the difference as soon as I'm using something else. Excellent conditioner and does just what the bottle said.
I am half way of the bottle and it's so far so good. It leaves my hair soft and smooth. It doesn't make my hair greasy.
Will give the shampoo a try in my upcoming purchase.
Very lightweight yet still effective at detangling my baby fine hair. You fine haired girls know what I'm talking about. Smooths and shines the cuticle of the hair shaft even in this Houston humidity. Hair looks great, clean and shiny.
I love this shampoo and conditioner! I didn't think I would find anything to match Redken All Soft but it looks like I was wrong! This makes my hair soft, shiny, and manageable. My hair is wavy and tends to frizz in the summer but these products have really helped with that problem and don't flatten out my natural wave. I also got them on sale for 4 bucks each! Unbelievable for a salon quality product!
I'm surprised at the high reviews. I thought this conditioner was decent, but nothing special. I've had better results with drugstore conditioners. I didn't really felt like it helped to smooth my hair, and it didn't detangle as well as I had hoped.
