Wonderful day protection, smells fresh, is a nice base under concealer. In fact, I am generous with the application and rub some into my upper cheekbones, as well, to protect them. I have very sensitive eyes that will tear up if my eye cream is running near the end of the day, or is making my mascara run. No such problem here - it stays fresh all day and does not interfere with my eye makeup. In fact, I stopped having a coon eye problem as well. And I love knowing that I am preventing further wrinkles.
I'm generally a big fan of Clarins, but this wasn't a success for me. While it may be successful as a sunscreen, it fails as an eye cream. It's much too dry and didn't provide enough moisturization. I tried mixing it with eye cream, but could probably do that with most sunscreens, and save myself $28.
The packaging is fantastic, its a bright yellow opaque tube, keeping the ingredients safe & stable. This is my daily eye cream, a staple I buy once a year to protect my eyes from the sun. For starters, u get a .7oz tube versus .5oz jar = More product then most eye products. I use a bit of serum under my eyes, wait a few minutes & apply this right under my eye, lids & brow bone. This provides very little moisture BUT it is a mineral sunscreen, a true SPF 30 and it doesnt irritate my super sensitive eyes at all. Ive tried Shiseido, Super Goop!, Clarins, Philosophy and they all burn like fire when I put them close to my eyes! The'yre so sensitive that I started wearing a mineral based spf in my tinted moisturizer. Very happy with this, higher SPF would be awesome though.
Update 2013 Still use this as my daily eye cream, staple & I've found nothing to come close to replacing it!
I"m very happy with this. I wanted a sunscreen for my eyes and this is perfect for me. It absorbs very quickly and you only need a little about to put on your lid and undereye. One day I put this on and forget to put on eyeshadow primer and my eyeshadow did not crease at all. I'm sold.
I have been using this product for a good 2 years now, if not more. It's my every day day-time eye cream. It's not easy to find sun protection for use around the eyes specificially and most heavy duty sun screens are just too greasy to use on the eye area if you also plan on wearing eye makeup, concealer, liner, etc.....you'd end up with a smudged, greasy mess in no time. This eye cream is not greasy at all and does not irritate my eyes. Makeup applies beautifully overtop (especially my concealer) and because the cream is not greasy, it doesn't interfere with how long or well my eye makeup lasts. Yes, the tube is very small but you only need such a small amount of product to cover both upper and under-eye areas - the cream is more of a thick lotion and spreads well and easily, so you don't need to use much. A tube of this lasts me a year with almost daily use. My only complaint is that it could be a bit more moisturising - I'd like something that was a wee bit richer, even for daytime use. But it's a minor complaint and I can always apply a bit of regular eye cream before applying this. For a while, it looked like Clarins was discontinuing this product but they were only pulled from the shelves because the line was being repackaged. I was really relieved to see this product reappear in its "new clothes".
This product is expensive considering that it's almost $30 for not even 1 oz. of product. I won't really know exactly how well this works until probably ten years from now, when the first signs of aging usually show. For now, this product is just okay for me. I like that it is specially made for the eye area, so you know your not harming yourself. It doesn't add extra shine or unnecessary odors, and the packaging make it really easy to get the right amount of product out without wasting any.
I normally wear SPF moisturiser on my face during the day and thought I would start using SPF in my eye cream too, giving this one a try because of the rave reviews.
I just found it to be a waste of money because whilst it worked SPF wise it just doesn't cut it as an eye product. It is very watery, doesn't provide much value as either firming or moisturising and is basically just a super sensitive sunscreen. No good for wearing foundation over either.
I'll be going back to a normal eye cream product.
They have a new packaging and slightly altered formula - I LOVE THIS STUFF.
there is nothing out there like it. It's the BEST. Period.
A few sketchy ingredients, but considering it's a natural sunscreen, it beats the heck out of the competition. I've been using it for two years, bought it on a whim, happy ever since. It is so effective I had to start shifting the amount/area applied because i could see a distinct line of where I had tanned and not! So it WORKS. I have a few wrinkles around mouth from acne/dehydration and stress/aging, but my eyes are amazing for my age and it's really the only eye thing I have stuck to for that long. other eye gels and creams come and go, I'm rarely impressed. Almond oil at night has helped with dark circles (got that from the good old East Indian traditions) and this Clarins spf 30 day seems to be a great regimen.
It lasts forever, and really does double duty; you don't need a separate day eye cream at all. (if you want a night option, see my review on unrefined shea butter. I notice there are several threads on it, some for hair, some for skin, bit confusing. )
UPDATE: THIS STUFF ROCKS. Everyone should own this. And I don't much like the other Clarins sun stuff, but this eye contour creme is truly the best.
I try to use SPF under my eyes at all times, but this one just didnt fit the bill. It was not at all moisturizing, in fact I felt that my eye area looked worse after using it. Shiseido Sun Protection Eye Cream Pa++, SPF 32 is such a better product for the undereye.
Also, the Clarins Eye Contour Care tube that they had out in Sephora was cracked open so I'm not sure how well the packaging holds up.
I gave it 2 lippies only because of the high SPF and it didn't migrate or irritate my sensitive eyes.
I'm very diligent about using suncrean, I always have to use it, i was using sunscrean everywhere on my body, except my eye area, then i found this, and was hesitant to buy it for the $30 price for a tiny bottle, but after all the reviews i decided to go for it. I have to say that i like the packaging, very sanitary, As for the product it doesn't irritate my eyes, and it brightens my eye area and therefore i now use less concealer. It doesn't leave a white cast and it's creamy. However, it doesn't moisturize, and a few hours after applying this my undereye area looks very dry. The bottle last a long time, i can't even remember when i bought mine. Overall it's ok. not very impressed
