Have just repurchased this - but only because it's on offer. For 100ml, £9.99 is steep. This was on offer at £6.66 (devilishly good offer ;)) so I had to get it. I used it all last summer and loved the consistency and scent. However, I give it a thumbs down for no lid. I love the glass bottle, it's really chic and high-end looking and I think this is a good dupe for the more expensive hair oils/serums like Kerastase. Love the shiny quality it gives my hair, I usually apply it on wet hair before blowdrying - a little goes a long way but I have long hair so it's a catch 22!
Bought this product about a month and a half ago and I do love it! I probably only bought it cause I loved the smell of it and it was on offer! All in all this is a lovely product if you are going for a smooth and sleek look! I dont tend to use it if im planning on using a matte salt spray during styling! I usually use it for blow drying my hair and I find my hair looks alot less frizzy! (bleaching incident has left me split ends) I usually only apply from my ends to half way up to avoid my roots looking abit too shiny! It works a treat and my mother borrowed it and purchased it herself! I would definitely buy this product again as I feel it does make a great difference when blow drying your hair and smells amazing! Thank you L'Oreal! A decent product that actually works!
I use the red version for coloured hair. As soon as I bought it I thought 2 things - wow that was expensive! And why isn't there a lid??? If I was to put this in my suitcase or wash bag to travel, the cap will turn and probably pump oil all over everything!!! As for the product itself, I use 4 pumps on my long hair but only on the bottom length of my hair before blow drying and then I put one v small pump through the very ends of my hair. My hair is softer, the colour is lasting well and I'm having compliments about the condition of my hair. Result!
A pretty good product but I've been left a bit underwhelmed by it. I have been using the gold cap oil on my mid length/long hair, which is untreated dye-wise and has always been pretty healthy, just a little prone to lacking strength and shine sometimes.
I love the smell, really gorgeous, and it stays in my hair for the day which is lovely. And I couldn't say the oil does nothing: it does make my hair smoother, softer, and shinier. I apply it when my hair has been towel dried before I blow dry. But here's a problem: the oil makes NO difference to my hair unless I blow dry it after I use it. This might be fine for some people, but I'm very conscious that blow drying every day is leaving something to be desired. I can't use it after my hair has dried as a styling tool because it's simply too heavy and greasy and just makes my hair look dirty.
Finally, as other reviews have said this oil is drying, I have to agree. Not in the short term, but if you use it regularly you will start to notice that if you leave it out of your routine and simply style your hair as you did before, it will be drier, and more prone to breakage and frizziness. Or maybe that's just me, it's very possible! I won't purchase again because I'd like a product which gives an extra burst or hydration but won't dry my hair out in the long term, and which will show results even without heavy duty blow drying.
This is one of the worse oil i have used. The first application wasnt that bad. But,it just got worse from the second onwards. My hair is dry and this oil adds more dryness into it.My hair was feeling very tangled too.I personally do not recommend this product.
I am currently using the red cap one for coloured hair as I have blonde highlighted hair.
This stuff is amazing! Love it so much. I used 3 pumps after I washed my hair before blow drying and my hair was so soft and silky to touch. It was also a lot less frizzy than usual.
I put just one pump through my hair after straightening.
Past reviews have mentioned the alcohol content and that it would be drying but I haven't noticed any dryness.
I would highly recommend this product, it's not very expensive and lasts ages.
I use the gold-capped version of this product on my very long (top of my butt!) hair with bleached ends. I'm really happy with what this product does for my hair - makes it feel smooth and silky, and makes my dry, split ends ends feel much less like straw! I also think it smells really nice! I personally use 3 pumps on my damp hair before air drying. I worry about weighing my hair down with any more. The oil is thick-ish, and I like to warm it up in my palms before applying to my hair. The glass bottle feels weighty and luxurious in my hand when I use it, too. I rated it low for price as it's NZD $20.00 (got it on special for $15) and it would probably be cheaper if you are in the US. The packaging can be tricky as the glass bottle is slippery with oily hands - make sure your hands are dry before picking it up! All in all, this product works how I want it to me and I love it.
I'm not really very keen on this hair oil. The bottle I have is the one with the gold cap.
I bought it when I couldn't find any of the previous hair oils I had used and wanted something then and there, rather than waiting for an online purchase. My prior experience with oil/serums were Morrocan Oil, DermOrganics and Agadir. I was used to a nice, incensy-type smell, and decent results.
This oil has a rather unpleasant smell. Slightly rancid, sharp and not pleasing to me. It clashed horribly with the scent of shampoo and conditioner.
It does go a long way as it's much thinner than MO or Agadir, but about the same consistency as the DermOrganics oil. For my shoulder length hair two pumps were enough, even when I'd had a hairdresser-induced bleaching disaster. It doesn't absorb that well in my hair.
Results, I don't see any. It just seems to put a coating on my hair, and not a nice coating. It's still the same to brush and doesn't reduce tangles for me.
I'm unsure if it's any good for heat protection as I don't use heat on my hair at all.
I wouldn't buy this ever again. It wasn't that cheap for something so mediocre. $20 AUD is a lot for something that you aren't very happy with, and it's the same price as Agadir oil, although with the L'Oreal oil you get about 100mls, Agadir about 50mls.
It's been over a year and I still have 1/3 of the bottle left. I'm trying to use it up as I hate to waste things, but because I dislike it so much it might be a battle to get through it.
I received this as a Christmas gift as I am known to straighten my hair very often. This is amazing!! So little can do much!! I use this right before i straighten my hair, and it makes it so easy to do whilst making it soft to the touch and giving my hair the most amazing smell!! Honestly this is probably the best hair product i have ever used
I absolutely adore this product! It's done wonders for my hair and it's really helped it out.
I am oriental Asian and I have subjected my hair through 5-6 bleaching sessions (to platinum blonde - white) so naturally it's fried, damaged and generally very unhappy.
It has stayed in such a state for 6 months and after this product it has given me a good repair -- it will never be the way it used to but lets just say my hair feels like hair again, not a bunch of haystacks.
I have definitely seen an improvement in my hair, it doesn't get knotty and it doesn't get frizzy easily, which means little to no breakage! My hair looks a lot more tame as well and I don't feel the need to damage it by straightening when I go out. It's a lot less prone to damage due to heat since this oil protects my hair so I can now style without being afraid.
As for how it feels now, it feels really smooth and soft, I am able to run my finger through my hair without fear of breakage or any sort of excessive damage. It feels really healthy and silky.
The oil itself isn't heavy/thick, but it is very greasy when you rub it between the palms of your hand, but once applied on hair I usually end up with little to no oil on my hand -- if there is I usually wipe my hand dry (extra moisture for my hands!) or just wash it off with some soap.
I have below-shoulder length hair and I use about 9 drops in total, I don't feel any excessive grease and my hair absorbs it in very quickly -- I sometimes end up with greasy hands but that is just a minor downside.
As to packaging -- It just looks pretty, which is always nice. It's quite heavy which is not too offensive but not exactly ideal if I am taking this product somewhere (which I will be doing soon and hopefully nothing will happen to it), apart from that it's very sturdy. I appreciate the pump since it doesn't squirt too much oil and I can easily control how much I pump out -- annoyingly enough it does not have a cap, it twists to lock it so no oil gets pumped out accidentally but for travelling purposes a cap would be ideal for the sake of extra security.
The scent of this product isn't high on my list of what's important but it smells really nice which gets points anyways -- it doesn't last long though, which is a shame but it is better than having oil that smells foul and it never goes.
How I apply this:
I apply 2-5 drops on wet to damp hair, ends get priority then I let it sit for awhile. Blow dry and then apply 2-4 drops on dry hair to smooth it out and add additional moisture. Brush my hair through to even out application a bit more.
I would buy this product again because I have has a good experience with it and I would definitely recommend it for people with damaged/dry hair or over processed (excessive dying, bleaching or permed) hair.
