Updated Review-I believe this product is drying out my face & causing peeling. Will not repurchase.
I am on my fifth bottle of this product. I've got to say its one of the best cleansers I've tried (and I have tried a lot lol). I've never had the bottle pump break on me - Knocks on wood - it removes makeup completely, leaves my skin smooth and soft and clean feeling.
I got this when I ran out of my Philosophy Purity Made Simple and couldn't afford to buy it again. I needed a cleanser that would remove eye makeup as well as foundation. This product is the best dupe for my usual cleanser that I have found, performs well and does what it says it dose. The only difference between the two is the Neutrogena cleanser will sting your eyes a bit so just don't open them when your washing your eye makeup off and you will be fine.
Firstly the good things:
- It does remove makeup well
- removes waterproof makeup
-No instructions on the bottle (I thought it was a normal makeup remover so I put some on a cotton pad and it burnt the crap out of my eye so now my vision is all blurry)
-No warnings on the packaging
- DO NOT get this in your eyes!
- The pump broke as soon as I opened it... maybe I just had a dodgy one but it was very frustrating.
over all its a good makeup remover but you need to know how to use it... I rub it between my hands then use it the same way I would use a cleanser and wash it off then use my normal face cleanser afterwards.
in Australia this retails for about $10-14 which is ok.
been using this cleanser for about a week and i really like it! doesn't leave skin taut but doesn't leave it feeling greasy either.. exactly the right balance. if you've got dry skin you'd probably want to moisturize after but i'm fine without. i have acne prone skin and this cleans my skin nicely, removes makeup and doesn't break me out. pleasant scent/texture, mostly natural and not tested on animals!
Like any product that has the word "Natural" or similar on it- it does not mean that the product contains only 100% naturally derived ingredients. Each of the Neutrogena Naturals items says clearly on the package, what percentage of natural ingredients are in it. This cleanser contains 90% naturally derived ingredients.
I used this cleanser all last Summer, and not only did I love the scent of it (it smelled a bit like apple to me), it also took off my foundation, and kept my face feeling perfectly balanced, not tight nor oily. Keep in mind, this is a cleanser so, getting it in your eyes is of course, not the best idea. I would recommend this for a refreshing, Summertime cleanser.
I usually use makeup wipes to remove my makeup however I decided to give this a try and I'm glad I did. I love it ... so far so good... smells nice.... leaves skin feeling so soft...and really does remove all makeup.... hasn't irritated my skin at all..and I do have very sensitive skin.
LOVE this stuff. I went through some pretty awful hormonal acne, and even though my skin is oily and pretty resistant, too many medications and chemicals throw it entirely off balance, leaving me with angry red bumpy skin D: which is awful! I wear full makeup every day when I'm breaking out (and yes, I have a cleansing brush so my pores aren't clogged etc etc, lol) and I needed a good makeup remover just for that purpose.
Most makeup removing cleansers are WAY too thick and creamy for my skin. They don't do much, and even with a cleansing brush, I had a lot of residue left on my already unhappy skin. Enter this cleanser. It's just between thin and creamy, a happy medium that I can definitely work with.
At any rate, this cleanser left my skin soft and smooth, not irritated at all, not red AT ALL which was a shocker. My acne treatments can be MAD strong, and I already have a scrub, so this is perfect for a mild yet highly effective cleanser for problem skin. Even when I was at home wearing no makeup, I would use this. My acne didn't get any WORSE, and being hormonal needed time to go away, but this cleanser helped my skin become incredibly soft, healthy, and a bit smoother. I say a bit because obviously...I had acne. Bump city. Just saying cleansers can really only do so much, and for me, it did exactly what it promised: "...cleans skin and removes makeup in one step without stripping skin's natural moisture." Thumbs up from me!
I purchased this cleanser ($8) for my daughter when she came to visit me over the holidays. She said that she normally uses cleansers made by Neutrogena and that any of their cleansers would be fine. She has somewhat sensitive skin so I purchased this product because of the word "Naturals" on the bottle.
(INTERESTING NOTE...this product's ingredient list reads as follows: "Water, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Glycol Distearate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Caprylyl Glycol, Acrylates Copolymer, Potassium Sorbate, Benzyl Alcohol, Fragrance." I don't really see too many "natural" ingredients here. For those of you who had issues with skin sensitivity/dryness perhaps your skin was not able to take one, two or more of these ingredients, especially the alcohol-based ones and those that make the product "lather". Just like the sulfates in many shampoos allow for lots of suds on our strands, so too are there ingredients - generally not "natural" ingredients -in our cleansers that give us the lather we desire to "clean" our face.)
My daughter's visit came and went but the contents of the plastic pump bottle did not-there was enough in the bottle for me to try it out for a week. I normally use cream-based cleansers to remove my makeup so I was skeptical about the efficacy of this clear cleanser. The directions say to apply to a wet face - the cleanser worked up into a lather rather quickly. The smell was fresh, certainly pleasant enoug, and rinsed off easily. I use Almay eye makeup remover pads prior to washing my face so I can't report on whether or not this product removes all signs of mascara and eye makeup.
While I don't love this product for myself I can say that it did cleanse my face well and I did not have any problem with dry or irritated skin after a week using it. I would recommend it for those who have oily or combination skin that has no history of reactivity to sudsing agents, alcohol-based ingredients or fragrance.
I've been using this ever since Neutrogena first came out with their Naturals line. I think I'm on my...5th bottle?
It's cheap, and works great. I have combination+acne-prone+sensitive skin, so finding a cleanser/MU remover can be a PITA. I haven't had a bad reaction from this yet. And I don't need to use a separate eye MU remover beforehand if I use this.
It could be a bit drying for people with dryer skin.
I do wish the bottle was wider/sturdier at the base so it doesn't tip over when the product is almost out.
Otherwise, I would say this is pretty much my HG.
