Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is the worst of Cetaphil's products. They do make some useful products, but not this one. Everything about this formulation is disappointing--the consistency, the chemical smell, the singular ineffectiveness of the actual cleansing agent, the feeling it leaves behind on your skin, and especially the way in which it actually dries skin out instead of leaving it "soft" as Cetaphil claims. I have hand eczema so I thought this product as a fragrance-free and "gentle" formulation would help with that condition, but I immediately saw my eczema getting worse. And forget using this on your face--it left mine feeling slimy and produced a breakout the next day every time I tried it. Rinsing it off with water or just wiping it off without water--it doesn't matter, it's produces terrible results either way. There are many other products that are truly "gentle" and will do a much better job.

i bought this a week ago. didn't mind the glue-like fragrance (reminds me a lot of phisoderm, for what it's worth), LOVE the packaging, but i didn't feel it cleansed my face as well as it could have. now, i'm not the kind of person who wants stripped down, squeaky-feeling skin, but i *do* want my cleanser to at least take off my foundation... about me: fair, sensitive, combo skin. prone to semi-monthly (or more) breakouts.

this might be a good product to take along when camping. i don't wear foundation when camping, and usually end up with irritated skin from the sunscreen, so this might be effective enough to remove at least some of the sunscreen without additional irritation.

Cetaphil cleanser is a great morning cleanser for those with normal to dry skin types. Rather than a soap that can strip moisture, Cetaphil gently cleans and freshens skin. If it was better at removing makeup (any makeup at all) I could give it a better rating- but there can really only be one "best" in any given category so I gave it a 4 out of 5.

I use to use the Cetaphil cleanser for normal to oily skin and it dried my skin out after a few months. So far this has not dried me out. For the price I have not found another gentle cleanser that works for me. I use it in the shower, with a washcloth and I've not had problems with removing light makeup. My SO has rosacea and it's gentle enough for him to use and not have flare ups from it. I wish it was in a pump like the normal to oily cleanser, but that's the only complaint I have with it.

I used this a long time ago on my back; it was recommended by a dermotologist to me. At first I thought I liked it but it ended up giving me deep, painful, cystic type acne! THANK GOD I wasn't using this on my face! Would NEVER use again!!

I can not believe that everyone makes such a big deal about this product. Even Doctors......This is the worst skincare for sensitive red skin I have ever put on my face. I would not suggest it for anyone over the age of 30 with sensitive skin. And the manufacturer needs to address the name again. Nothing about it is gentle.

I had been using the Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser and while that one was ok it was kind of drying to my sensitive skin and the smell got annoying after awhile so I decided to try this one. Well I have very sensitive skin so I am always looking out for a good gentle cleanser. This one was definitely gentle, in fact it was a little too gentle, it didn't feel like it got my skin clean and it definitely didn't remove all my makeup, in fact it left most of it on my skin. For awhile I tried using this in the morning and the oily skin cleanser at night but that go annoying after awhile, I recently discovered Paula's Choice Skin Balancing cleanser and it did everything I hoped this would do, removed my makeup, was fragrance free, didn't dry or irritate my skin, and left my face feeling very soft. This cleanser was just ok and I won't repurchase.

Not that this cleanser needs another fabulous review, but I thought I'd give my two cents. This has been the only cleanser that does not break out my sensitive, dry skin. It's amazing ! So cheap, too. I'll buy it again and again. Plus, it doesn't have that soap-like smell. Try it.

I have been using cetaphil for about 7 years now and I still love it. It has never caused me to break out, is not oily, and does not dry my skin. I think this product is great for sensitive skin. Costco sells two 20oz bottles for $15.99.
