I have combo dry skin and I bought this because my normal cleanser is too drying to use during the winter months. This product is OK. It does a decent job of cleansing, but if I'm not careful it can leave certain parts of my face really dry. I can't use it every day because of that.
I have only used this product a few nights but wanted to share. This winter I have been blessed (not so) with a nice dry patch right on my chin. It is opposite a nice crop of pimples, go figure. So I chose this to try en leu of Cetaphil gentle cleanser sine that was too lotiony. I love the consistency and I love anything in a pump. The only thing I have against it is that if I do not moisturize immediately my face tightens up quickly. I didn't think that I had migrated to full on DRY skin as we delved into Winter, I would still consider myself a combination type of gal. I'm no quite sure if I would really recommend this for someone who truly does have DRY skin, it may be a bit too much. One other contributing factor to this experience could be the hard water I have in my area. So I will say if you have softer water you may be fine. In conclusion I definitely LIKE this product, I even really like it alot. It pros outweigh the itty-bitty con. I will update if anything horrible happens or if my opinion changes. As it stands now I will repurchase.
I have mild acne-prone, dry, sensitive skin. So far, this is the only cleanser that doesn't sting my face or turn it red. While it thoroughly and effortlessly removes my eye makeup, I will sometimes use makeup wipes to remove excess foundation powder before cleansing my face, as I've found that it takes a little more effort to remove my cakey mineral foundation. I am still searching for a HG product that does it all--removes all traces of makeup and soothes my skin, but this product is very affordable and it keeps my face irritation-free. I am taking a lippy off, as I still have to use makeup remover wipes in addition to this product.
If you have dry or dehydrated skin, I would steer away from this personally. It stripped my skin even more and it was SO tight and dry as soon as I washed it off.. my face actually hurt. But, I passed it on to my sister who is combo, mostly oily and it did not break her out but was just a "meh" product.
I love everything about this cleanser. It only takes me 1/2 pump in the a.m. and then one full pump in the p.m. to take off makeup. I may use a little extra if needed in the p.m., but usually not. In the evening, I usually splash water on my face, exfoliate with a little baking soda, and then use this cleanser. It takes off all my makeup and even though it's fragrance-free, it has a scent that I love. It's very light and foamy and feels soft on the skin, like a luxury product as you are massaging it around. It leaves my skin feeling good, not tight or dry. This is my HG cleanser!
My new HG! After using this cleanser for a month, I think I can safely say I'm in love. I had been using Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face wash for many years, but I was ready to experiment because I know I am sensitive to sulfates (AH has some, low on the ingredient list, but Aveeno is sulfate free).
The Aveeno is much gentler, but still takes my makeup off very well. If I am wearing heavy makeup/sunscreen, I use a little oil to precleanse just to be safe, but most of the time Aveeno does the job perfectly. Alpha Hydrox would occasionally leave my face feeling "tight", but my skin only feels soft and clean after using the Aveeno. I think the appearance of my skin has improved some-- a bit brighter and smoother. I like the pleasant foamy texture and the lack of fragrance. I have no complaints and I really hope Aveeno continues to manufacture this Foaming Cleanser until the end of time! continued >>
My HG - recommended by my derm as a good cleanser for rosacea - apparently his wife uses this since she can't tolerate cetaphil either- HAH! I'll be clear - it's not medicated and won't "fix" rosacea, but it is a great cleanser that won't aggravate rosacea, strip my skin, or cause breakouts. Two pumps gives you enough for a wash, and I find that it cleans well and washes away nicely. I use it once a day and have had the bottle for 9 months, so it lasts a while too.
I really like this cleanser. For years, I thought I had to use a harsher cleanser to help out my acne prone/oily T-zone.
After giving this cleanser a try, my skin tone has evened out, and my acne has almost disappeared. For the first time in my life, I've started getting compliments on my skin! Even by my facialist. I like the texture of the foam, and this has never dried out my skin, made it feel tight or oily.
I took one lippie off because I do have to scrub a bit harder to get all my makeup off, and I wear light makeup.
Recommended to me by a skincare "expert" as a good facial cleanser for eczema suffers (which I am and why I agreed to try this product). "Expert" she was not..it was exceptionally LOUSY! It didn't necessarily irritate my skin, but it didn't help it either. PLUS, it did a horrible job removing face make up, even if you're wearing very minimal make up. A definite "must miss." I'll stick to the cleansers that do work well for me and avoid getting caught like a "deer" in the "headlights" next time someone tries to promote a different facial cleanser, especially with all of the "issues" I have with my fair skin tone, sensitivity, etc. Overall: Not going to purchase or consider products from this line...lesson learned.
i've been using this stuff about 2 or 3 years now, and it's the best cleanser for my skin i've found so far (combo/sensitive/very fair). i personally don't have any problem w/ it not removing my makeup at all. it actually seems to remove it so well that my skin can feel a little dry afterwards. i do massage the cleanser in pretty well though just to cleanse all the daily grime off (i live in an urban area). i don't wear a lot of makeup, but i have to wear a pretty thick coat of sunscreen on my face everyday.
i have tried tons of cleansers and i always come back to this stuff. it's not absolute perfection, but compared to other stuff out there i've tried, it's pretty darn good.
ALSO...i forgot to mention last time that the redness reducing effects only last for so long. this cleanser is just a good, very basic cleanser - which is what dermatologists say to use. it cleans off my sunscreen/makeup SO much better than cetaphil.
