This is pretty and I can see why it's popular, but it doesn't work on me. It brings out any redness in my skin. I prefer Bonne Bell's Dr Pepper for a sheer rose, it's tons cheaper. Nars lipsticks are drying too, but for a sheer l/s this has great staying power. I'm a NC20.
Cap falls off pretty easily while in my bag.
i've read about how wonderful dolce vita is in at least a million women's magazines. it is lauded by everyone from makeup artists to celebrities to everyday women. is it just hype? no! dolce vita is a sheer dusty rose, but the reviewers' descriptions ranges from pink to red to a brownish red. on my semi-pigmented lips, it shows up as a sheer berry. it's so easy-to-wear and is an extremely flattering shade. i like to apply it using my fingers so i can control the depth of color, but when applied directly from the tube, the color can be deep and intense without looking too garish. i find it to be very complimentary to my nc40 skintone.
the only downside to this is that the lipstick can be very drying. i find it necessary to put on lip balm beforehand. it also has a slight crayon smell. a lot of people mistakenly believe it's because the lipstick has gone bad, but all of nars's lipsticks have a slight crayon-y stench in my experience. it's not so intolerable and the smell fades away after a while. also, there's no taste, which is always a great thing, and i can't forget to mention that it lasts quite awhile too.
it's not a perfect ylbb for me, but it's a gorgeous color regardless. continued >>
No complaints about texture or staying power. It's the color that's bad. Not modern at all. Way too much pink for me. I definitely look my age in this one.
I tried this on at the NARS counter as I'd heard from many that this is the ultimate YLBB look and I was looking for something very neutral for every day wear. I have highly pigmented pink-brown lips, and had gone in with nothing on my lips so as to see the true Dolce Vita effect. To my surprise, I couldn't see a thing after I'd applied an ample amount of the l/s. I didn't even see a shine or matte finish -nothing! The lipstick looks brown-pink with a hint of orange in the tube, and although this is different from my lip color, I still saw no effect. Sorry to say that a clear lip gloss would give me a much better YLBB effect than this l/s. So girls with naturally rosy lips beware -you don't need this one!
I always have a backup dolce vita. This is a neutral dusty pink and I think would work with most skin. For reference I am NC25, green eyed brunette, neutral/warm. I love the rubbery packaging of NARS and the staying power is good, does not easily displace on my lips, the only complaint I have with Nars is the scent...but it's a minor complaint!
Well I've heard of this lipstick being touted as a sort of universal shade...so not true. This lipstick completely clashed with my skin and brought out all the yellow undertones. It even managed to make my teeth look yellow. I also wasn't too fond of the taste of this particular lipstick. I guess it might work on other people but it certainly didn't work on me. It's a shame since I really wanted to like it...
This colour seems too bright pink on me. I feel like I'm wearing grandma's pink lipstick. It's okay with a brown toned lip gloss over it to take down the fake pinky tone on me, but after spending so much on it, I wouldn't buy it again.
Perfect 5's all around for this lippie. This is my most used lipstick as it is a beautiful pink that can also serve as a nude. I just swipe this on & instantly feel more put together. Despite how outrageous Nars' prices are, I would buy this again just because I haven't found another lipstick in this color that is as wearable, pretty, & long lasting as this one.
This color is sheer dusty rose and enhances almost anyones natural lipcolor. This definitely is one of those YLBB shades. I recommend this and Gypsy to almost anyone.
I ordered this during Sephora's FF sale (without actually trying it on in a store first) because how much people talk about it on the mu board. I didn't expect it to be a neutral/pink brownish shade (I thought it was more of a nude ls) but it is GORGEOUS. I just tried it on today and got so many compliments on it already. It's definitely a YLBB look, enhances my lip color subtly (my natural lip color is almost the same exact shade as this lipstick, a tad lighter). I have SO many l/s and nothing else looks like it. I love how I can just put this lipstick on without any other makeup on, it's so awesome =D
