I've said YES to buying this shampoo again, but I shouldn't. I have eczema dermititis and this wasn't the kindest thing on my scalp. However, it gives fabulous volume, shine and the smells yum! Really if I didn't have such a sensitive scalp I would swear by this :) The only downside is that it's slightly drying...whether that has something to do with the salt crystals, I don't know.
I was so disappointed by this product – it dried out my hair and scalp. Every time I washed my hair with it, my scalp was itching so badly that I had to stop using it. At the end I used it as a scrub for my feet. Beware of this product if you have sensitive scalp.
This product deserves MUCH higher reviews! Big makes my hair fragrant, shiny and BIG! It does exactly what it says it does. I'm not crazy about the packaging for this one but I realize that this is the way it needs to be.
This is one of the first Lush products I bought a year ago in my first online order after my roommate at the time raved about it. I used to have very oily hair so its great a eliminating that as give my hair a brilliant shine (I have naturally medium blonde hair, the day after I use it my friends have asked me if I had highlights)
The trick is to only use a pinch of the product add a few drops of water and lather well. I also only use this once a week
I love this. It smells nice. When it drips down your face and accidentally touches your lips it doesn't taste icky and bitter like most shampoos... my hair did use to get a bit knotty afterwards when I had long hair but it was wonderful! I love Lush!
Wonderful shampoo - really made my coarse, dull, curly hair shiny again! Great smell of limes and sea breeze - very fresh smelling, almost kinda like a margarita. At first I wasn't sure whether I was supposed to leave this on my hair like a conditioner or lather it up. I chose the latter and that was indeed the correct choice. This lathers quite well - you can really feel it working! The sea salt in this took a little getting used to. Make sure that you wash it out well afterwards. Also, take great care not to drop any of this shampoo on the floor of your shower as it is far slippier than any soap or shampoo. You could slip to your death - yes, it is that slick! Packaging sucks like with all LUSH products but the benefits of this product far outweigh the crappy container.
LOADS of volume thanks to the 50% sea salt in this. Don't use this daily if you have colored or dry hair, but otherwise so long as you use a good conditioner afterwards you shouldn't find this stripping, I don't think. Love the smell too :)
I like BIG. I have between 3-C and 3-B type long un-colored curly hair. I use this as a clarifier shampoo. So i wash with it about once every 2 to 3 weeks if i need it. Some folks complaine that it does dry their hair out but if you keep your hair moisturized like your supposed to it won't. So i obviously put conditoner on my ends before i use it like any other shampoo for protection and prevention of split ends. And i use rinse out conditoner on all of my hair after wards. BIG has a nice clean smell and leaves my hair smelling great and feeling clean. I really like it but i won't repurchase as it's not meant for my hair type.
Pros: For my fine-ish, dry/damaged hair, Big definitely lived up to its name. I certainly had LOADS of fluffy (frizz-free!) volume, and a great deal of shine. I also thought the salt crystals felt really great as a scalp massage, and I loved the very refreshing oceany scent. It left my hair feeling super squeaky clean, and wasn't really over-drying.
Cons: I found I had to use a great deal of Big in order to wash all of my long (mid-back) but fine hair. I used up the whole jar fairly quickly, and that's an anomaly for me (I usually hang onto bottles of shampoo for months). The clarifying nature of this shampoo seemed to strip the color from my hair- I could clearly see black-blue water running down the drain as I rinsed out. I also dislike the fact that Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a main ingredient in the product- while I don't necessarily support any of the claims about the toxicity of this ingredient, I do know from personal experience that it is drying and damaging to my hair, as well as irritating to my skin. I got this as a buy-one-get-one at LUSH, but I don't think I will be purchasing again. I loved the shine and the volume, but I know the long term effects of the SLS on my particularly sensitive hair won't be worth the trade-off.
I sure do love that scent, though. ; )
I was sucked in after the SA tested a very small amount on my hands in the store. It lathered sooo well and smelled like a day at the beach. I was sold. I used this the first time as instructed (apply to really wet hair and then add more water and lather) and I followed with the veganese cond. The volume was out of control...which is saying a lot for my straight limp fine hair. It did feel like it dried the ends out a bit so I have used a heavier cond and its great. I did notice that it stripped some color out of my hair (i dye mine black) but nothing too bad....no worse than my L'Occitane shampoo.
Easy to travel with (put small ammount in jar)
Will dry (heavy cond on ends)
Careful if you dye your hair.....
