HOLY GRAIL ALERT! I have thick, wavy hair and this makes my hair so freakin shiny and gorgeous smelling it just makes my day! This is a tricky product to use, and very unique. My hair is dark-ish brown with lots of gold, and it can look brassy, so I also like DaddyO shampoo...so what I do is I mix the two together. I put a dab of DaddyO in my palm, then a dab of BIG, and lather up. THIS works. On it's own I find Big difficult to use but mixing it with another shampoo or using this as a repeat works very well. THis doesn't really make my hair poufy or anything, if anything, it tames it by making it shine. It really does make hair look youthful and beautiful. if this ever gets discontinued I will hunt down the person who would make such an awful decision!

I bought Big because I have fine, limp, colour-treated hair.

I also have psoriasis and sebohrreic dermatitis.

I found Big to be easy to use, liked the smell easy to rinse out but it makes my scalp itch.

I did not use it more than three times a week.

It did absolutely nothing for my hair other than clean it.

I have had Soft shampoo bar recommended to me for 'big' hair, but of course it contains sodium lauryl sulphate of some kind so will probably be irritating, but I'm interested to obtain a sample and see how it goes.

I do love Lush products but as with everything it's a case of some things work on you, and some don't.

Let me first state that I have fine, flat color treated hair. This is a terrific product if used correctly and proportionately. Use after your hair is saturated completely, and use just a little bit! Rinse thouroughly and use a heavier conditioner. Makes hair big, fluffy and soft all day! I use it only twice a week as other reviewers have suggested that it may be drying.
I think Lush could sell smaller travel size portions, and give shoppers a trial size.Scent could be better, it's not terrible, but it's not great either. I guess you can't have everthing!
Give it a try and share the tub with a friend. Will last a very long time!

The trick to using this shampoo is that your hair needs to be completely wet before you apply the stuff, otherwise, it will not lather. So sometimes I'll use a tiny bit of Rehab shampoo first, rinse, then a tiny dab of BIG will lather like crazy. My first impression of BIG was that someone had repackaged laundry detergent and was selling it as shampoo. It looks like granules of Tide made into a paste and it smells like Tide too! But it works. My hair is super shiny and voluminous whenever I use it, and my hair smells good for days afterwards! It is ideal to use right before a long trip, say a 20-hour flight to Asia . . . my hair arrived smelling fresh and clean. Even after a running a 10K, my head still smelled like I'd just stepped out of the shower. I agree that this is not an everyday shampoo. I use it only once a week and on those occasions in which my next shower may be a couple of days away.

This shampoo is totally weird, but I love what it does for my hair. I mean, a TUB of shampoo that you sort of take PINCHES of between your fingers? I ordered it off the website, and when it first arrived I just sat there staring at it. How totally bizarre! It's a thick clear liquid with white stuff suspended in it. I see from what everybody else is saying here that this is salt. Whatever. All I know is that this stuff cleans my hair and leaves it (after their Veganese Conditioner) softer than anything else. I agree with everyone else who says that this is not a shampoo for every day. But it makes a sensational once-a-week treat.

A tub of salty shampoo? I was skeptical, but I tried it and found the texture and scent of Big to be intriguing. I need to play with it to get a proper head of lather- add water bit by bit to my scalp and gently scrub in circles. Big really gets rid of product buildup and grease. I can only use it once a week max or my hair turns to straw. Big is not an essential part of my routine so I would recommend it only as an occasional clarifying shampoo. And don't use it without a good conditioner.

2-3 times a week I use BIG. It's slightly too harsh for everyday use, even though I have hair that tends to be on the greasy side.

It leaves my hair soft and shiny and definitely volumized. And I like the smell.

Follow with American Cream conditioner and you'll have yummy, great looking hair :oD

I would not have been interested in BIG shampoo. But the SA in the LUSH store had such beautiful shiny hair and she credited it to BIG shampoo. I had to try it. My hair is thin, curly, and I have tons of it. Its also colored, highlighted, very dry and somewhat dull. I usually use lots of moisturizing shampoos/conditioners/styling products to counteract the dryness of my hair. But that adds up to weight on my curls and build up on my hair and scalp. BIG made my hair feel REALLY clean and soft. It got rid of all my build up. I am a hair product snob usually and I've tried probably a dozen different salon clarifying shampoos. Some didn't work, some were ok but extremely drying- some so dry that it was a tangled mess that took an hour of combing, conditioners, and tears to get through. To me, this is the absolute BEST clarifying shampoo. Also, my hair is really bouncy using BIG! But the greatest thing about BIG to me is the shine. I've been trying all the drugstore hair gloss products and I've also gotten a gloss treatment at a salon. The shine BIG gives me is unmatched by any other product I've tried, hands down. I mean the shine is incredible! I never thought I could have my hair look this shiny, especially without any oils. Hair is left like a childs hair, so soft and shiny, not greasy at all. This shampoo is very different, salty thick texture that doesn't really lather. But if your hair is completely soaked it works fine. The scent is ok, not bad but not great either. If you're looking for a great once a week clarifying shampoo, this is it.

The smell is cologney, as people have mentioned, but not bad. The texture of this product, however, is probably the most counter-productive of any shampoo I've ever used! The salt granules are so large and so sharp that trying to work this into your hair without actually running the hair under the shower at the same time is futile (and painful), but if it runs in your eyes it stings like hell. Leaves hair feeling stripped, adds little shiny, volumises. I have an oily scalp and thick long hair, and will be using this up once a week until my bathroom is finally rid of it.

I love this shampoo - it smells really fresh and nice and leaves my hair feeling completely and utterly *clean*. It can be hard to get used to at first, but once you learn to totally soak your hair before using it you'll do fine! Love it.
