I really like this foundation primer. Since my skin is too oily to wear moisturizer, I need a layer of something moist to work my foundation into. This really helps my foundation stick to my face, and keeps it looking fresh for hours. I actually notice a pretty big difference when I don't use this. I like the tube packaging. The price is pretty high (a complaint I have for many LM products, unfortunately) but I will still continue to repurchase it.
This is my first primer so I don't really have anything to compare it to.
Did it's job, I guess - nothing special; does make my makeup last all day, though I never really had a problem with that before.
Had no problems with breaking out or anything of the sort. A decent product, but not really worth it for the price. The packaging is basic, but seems kind of cheap.
This primer was only OK. I used the entire tube, and it may have helped my MU stay on longer than without any primer at all. That said, my skin had been acting up with rashy breakouts on normally clear skin. I attributed this to everything EXCEPT the LM primer; alas, when I ran out of primer, my skin was clear within 2 weeks!
This product caused me to have a SEVERE allergic reaction and I do not normally have sensitive skin. I called Laura Mercier's customer service dept. for the list of ingredients to take to my emergency dermatologist appt. and was told instantly that they were sure this was the product that caused my reaction. It's hard to believe that a product as unnecessary as this one could cause so much damage. It's a shame that they do not indicate the possibility of a severe reaction on their packaging despite the fact that they are aware of it's toxicity. I guess selling MORE make-up matters more to Laura Mercier than their customers well-being. Ofcourse, not everyone will be allergic to this product, but based on my conversation with the customer service dept., they are well aware of the problem.
The primer works. My make-up glides on easily, and I use less of it. The problem? I use this and break out. Badly. Very badly. Like, boils on my face.
At first, I chalked it up to coincidence. I gave my make-up a break, and went back for the primer. Break outs. All over my face.
Sigh. Get a sample first and make sure you're not allergic, b/c this stuff is expensive. I guess the packaging is okay, but it doesn't seem to "fit" the high price.
I do recommend as it does help keep foundation set, but not a miracle cure to smooth out fine lines, bumps, etc. under your foundation. Also, to those who are break out prone, beware. This stuff adds another pore clogging layer over your skin. After a few minor breakouts, mine seemed to adjust, but I don't want to risk it anymore.
It doesn't do what you hope it will -- you will still have pores and it doesn't really keep you matte, unfortunately -- but it's not a bad product. I find I get ever so slightly less shiny while wearing this under my LM tinted moisturizer, but not enough that I'll want to repurchase when my sample tube runs out.
Good packaging, nice and plastic and not breakable. The primer works best when used with Laura Mercier foundation. Though I haven't tried that many other primers, this seems to do the trick. It glides on super smoothly, and skin feels satiny. Foundation goes on easier, and lasts longer. Price is mid-range. I reccommend using it on days where you really want your foundation to stay on, or perhaps your skin is just not behaving and you need to soften it. I don't think it is needed for daily use.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this product~! Its a must use before any foundation touches my face! it helps keep my makeup fresh all day. My makeup never turns color from oils in my skin and it doesn't slide off at all! Love it and its a staple in my makeup bag!
This is the only primer I've tried so I can't compare it to others but find it is very good. I have combination, sensitive, acne-prone skin and this doesn't irritate it at all. It is a tiny bit greasy/moisturising so it tends to not absorb easily. It makes my foundation last longer though and I'd consider repurchasing it. I'm looking forward to trying it during the cooler months ahead when my skin becomes drier to see if there's any difference.
