Wow, this is by far the best primer I've ever tried, including UDPP, TFSI and Lorac. Those primers managed to keep my eyeshadow from creasing, but I always still had the problem of my eyeshadow fading, smudging or migrating all over my lid. This made it difficult and sometimes pointless for me to do dramatic looks. Last night I tried a bold purple eye with the NARS primer, went dancing, and at the end of the night, my eye makeup was still in place. This is a first for me. Dancing is the big test in my book; if my makeup lasts in a sweaty club, I'm shocked and thrilled. I wish this primer wasn't so expensive, but now that I've tried it, I don't want to use anything else.
I got this as a sample from sephora and i lOVE this it really does last the whole whole day and i think i have super oily lids so i was so surprised and happy to see my eyeshadows still colored and intact at the end of the day!
I got this as a sample from Sephora, and I am quite impressed with it. I wouldnít normally go out of my way to purchase something like this as I donít tend to wear a lot of eyeshadow anyway (and it doesn't matter to me if it fades or creases). But I tried this and was very happy with the results. After application, I let it dry for a minute or two and then applied a mid-brown eyeshadow. This one has very little pigment and so is very sheer on my eyelids normally. But with this primer the color intensified to a true reflection of what was in the pan - a metallic bronze color which is very pretty. Blending proved to be difficult, but for that color payoff this didnít matter too much. I canít comment on the price, but as itís not something I would wear on a daily basis, I canít say I would buy this whatever the cost. Great for nights out though, and I would choose this if I needed my eyeshadow to last for a special occasion. continued >>
Love this! I have super oily eyelids. Nothing keeps my shadow on. Even UDPP creased. After reading several reviews both here and YouTube, I decided to give this a try. It is the best primer I have ever used. Keeps my shadow from creasing throughout the entire day. Took one lippie off the price because it is kind of expensive. One way I am trying to make this last a little longer is to put a few spots of NARS on my eye and a few spots of UDPP that I received with the Naked palette. The NARS helps the UDPP from creasing. I will definitely buy this again.
Best primer everrrrr. I have somewhat oily lids and without a primer they crease like crazy. I have been using mac painterly paint pot as a base because the mua told me that the eye primers that mac had will crease and are no good. Well with the paint pot it sitll creased even if i just used it alone. And i do not really apply a lot so sayin that i used too much product can not be the reason why it creases so much.
This primer is the best. i love that it is colorless and my eyeshadow has stayed put for 7+ hours without creasing and no need for touch ups! What i do is prime my lids with this base and let it sit while i put on foundation. Then i apply the shadoow. I never tried putting eyeshadow as soon as i finished applying this base so i dont know if it makes a difference.
I am satisfied with this product and even though it is expensive i shall keep buying it whenever i run out.
I dont personally see the difference between this and TFSI....as I use both. I dont pick one above the other. I notice most people complain about tfsi seperating...the quick cure for that is to shake it in the tube before applying. hence I dont need to worry about that. As for nars...the price and the packaging dont make me very happy...and i think its gonna run out too fast. Wont repurchase but i dont mind a smaple or 2 haha
I hate to bring down the good reviews but this was a big disappointment for me. I was running out of my beloved Too Faced Shadow Insurance and thought I'd give this a go. I do not have oily or dry skin for reference (I'm in between)... The packaging first off was a little annoying, you don't have too much control over how much product you get out of it, I'm not too sure how you're going to get the rest of the product out when you're running low (I hate the thought of throwing away a product that could last for two months or more). I also noticed that the the doe foot applicator pushes a lot of air in the tube as well, which makes me a little nervous of it drying out too quickly or going bad. The texture of the primer itself was nice. It wasn't too oily or heavy, it dries completely clear (comes out a little whitish) and almost instantly. The primer didn't irritate my eyes at all either. My big problem with this primer is that it didn't make blending easy and also didn't do my shadows any justice in color vibrancy. It made made my shadows apply blotchy and had to layer my shadow over and over in order to get the proper pigmentation out of my shadows. My eyes became a little sore from my very soft brushes from trying to blend and layer over and over in order to get the same look and effect that my TFSI gave me. I just thought this primer was overrated and didn't preform any better (but worst) than my TFSI which is cheaper ($18 - 0.35 oz ) and contains more in the tube then this primer ($23 - 0.26 oz ). I even did a series of swatches on my arms with my regular base and the Nars one. I could tell a difference in how even the shadow was and how vibrant the shadows looked. My regular base won the test. I also asked my husband which ones he thought looked better, his answer were the ones that had the TFSI (he didn't know which were which). This primer didn't seem to last any longer than my current primer either. I know people with oily skin doesn't mesh well with TFSI so maybe this would work better for someone with more oily lids than me but, I wasn't impressed at all with this primer. I'd much rather use a painterly paint pot base (which are nice for oily lids too) or stay with my current primer over this one.
I love this product. I had samples of UD primer potion and Too Faced shadow insurance but never loved them enough to buy. I didn't think they worked that well. This, on the other hand, is a dream product! it doesn't feel oily or heavy at all on the lid (like NYX's does), it disappears completely, and shadows apply SO well over it. definitely helps them last too - I would love to buy or swap for this product! so far I only have a deluxe sample from Sephora I was lucky enough to get :)
I think this is one of the best shadows based and I use this more in the summer. I have been so obesses with this product, I did use the urban decay primer potion in sin and regular. But, I am not happy with the result, it had crease and the color did not stay as I had hope.
I have used both UDPP and TFSI and they both worked ok for me.
However, I found that UDPP made the shadows hard to blend plus there's the stupid packaging.
TFSI tends to separate and be oily, and it always goes bad and makes my eyes itch way before I've used half of it!
That's why I decided to give this Nars primer a try and I must tell you I LOVE IT. The texture is a bit similar to Pixie Epoxy, it's very easy to apply and blends clear. Like with any primer you only need a tiny amount.
I have worn it for 12+ hours without noticeing any creasing on my eyeshadows. It doesn't affect the way my eyeshadows blend or the color payoff. For me that's definitely the best of both worlds in one product.
However I don't know yet how you can get all the product out, but since the tube and applicator are very lipgloss-like, I'm assuming that won't be a problem.
The only reason I gave this 4 lippies is the price, that's almost twice the price of another eyeshadow primer. But since I love the results and can't find any other CON to using it, I declare this HG and will be repurchasing.
