Background info: My lashes are quite long and thick to begin with, so most mascaras do the job for me.
My mom got me this as a treat years ago and it was my first high end mascara. It's really good. It doesn't clump or flake, and it applies easily giving a nice balance of volume and length. It separates lashes and looks really nice on. Doesn't smudge throughout the day, and washes off easily with soap and water.
I recently got a deluxe sample of it and was reminded why I always liked it so much. If paying $20 for mascara that you'll need to throw away in 4 months doesn't make you cringe, go for it. This is a really nice product.
This was my go-to night-out mascara for a long time. Makes my eyelashes dark black, super thick and voluminous. Doesn't do a ton for length, but does something for all the other "eyelash features" you could want. No clumping or smudging. Definitely made my eyes look dramatic. Love this stuff.
Update: When I bought this stuff again recently, they had changed the brush. I don't think the effect is as "high impact" with the new brush, which has shorter bristles. The mascara formula is still really good (one of the darkest and glossiest black mascaras I have come across) but it sadly doesn't perform the same.
First time trying a high-end mascara and didn't disappoint! I wanted to buy DiorShow w/p but it's too pricey for me at the moment so bought this instead
Price: $20.16 CDN
Pkg: love the forest green tube :)
Length: falsie-worthy long lashes w/ a single coat
Volume: let's just say 2 coats of this=4 coats of Maybelline Falsies Flare
Brush: fat and easy to use
I love that only TWO caoats give me instant. I tried to pile on more coats but my lashes started to droop. Would have been 5 lippies if my lashes didn't droop
It's a great mascara w/ reasonable price. Def worth a try
I've used this mascara for a good 4-5 years now and I must say that no matter how many times I've tried to switch to other brands, I'll always be back to high impact.
I'm not a fan of heavy make up but always love a little added " oomph " to my small asian eyes and this one never fails to open them and yet not look like I've piled on a 100 layer of mascara.
they seem to have discontinued this in South east asia but I've bought about 4 spares from europe, tells you how much I love it! :)
My favourite by far. I have tried almost everything, from drugstore to high brand and this one is the best by far. It doesn't clump, it adds length and volume, doesn't flake. It's amazing. I still have to try a few more of the higher end, but so far this is my favourite.
Ooh, another favorite mascara to add to my list :)
Volume:
I really like Maybelline's Falsies mascara because it gives your lashes so much luscious volume that they almost look fake. But I really think that this High Impact mascara provides the same result with less effort, as the brush glides through the lashes with much more ease and less clumping. When you first open the tube, the formula is fairly wet and didn't add much volume. I thought it was pretty mediocre. But in about a week the formula started to dry a bit and that's when I noticed how much volume I was getting from a single coat. If I apply a second coat, the volume increases without getting clumpy which I love. I can't use the Maybelline Falsies mascara with two or three coats without clumping, but with this I can. The fact that I get minimal clumping with this mascara makes the volume I achieve look natural in a great way. Natural to me can be pretty boring, but this can make a person believe you have great lashes without any help ;)
Also if you like layering mascaras like I do, Clinique High Impact Mascara + L'Oreal's Voluminous Millions mascara = Wow!!! The L'Oreal mascara adds length, seperates, overall it gives a nice clean slate for the volume applied by Clinique's. No clumps or crunchy texture, just long thick lashes! I love how the two mascaras look on their own, but together they're very impressive!
Length:
I noticed that this mascara lengthens quite a bit from the start, when it was still pretty wet formula-wise I noticed how my lashes got quite longer but my lashes didn't get much thicker. It's not the best lengthening mascara ever, but it's definitely got a kick to it. I have short lashes naturally and I see them flare out quite a bit with this.
Curl:
The brush doesn't have much of a curve and honestly I don't see much curl when I use this. It lifts up a bit but if it does give curl I don't see it hold for a whole day. My lashes have a natural curl so this doesn't bother me much, but if you have straight lashes I could see this as a con. So I still recommend using a curler before applying.
Color:
I think mine is just called Black...I know purchased the darkest shade. On my light brown lashes, this mascara appears very dark black on my lashes. That's exactly what I was looking for :) It does provide dark, bold pigmentation.
Texture/Formula:
As I mentioned above, when it is fairly wet when you first use it, I saw average results. It's when the formula dries out a bit I saw great results (like I've see most mascaras do, rarely do I find one that wows me right from the start). Mine is not waterproof, and it smudges a tiny bit. Nothing horrible that I'd never use it again. It's very easy to remove with makeup remover. I also love how the formula doesn't make my lashes feel hard or crunchy, like you can't feel it at all. I'd compare it to Maybelline's Full & Soft mascara in that aspect (just that part though!! Otherwise they aren't similar)
Packaging/Price: I bought this for $14.50, to me that is pricey for a mascara. I'm not frugal when it comes to makeup in general, but with mascara I don't like spending more than 10 dollars since I usually only use that mascara for 3-4 months and then toss it out for hygienic purposes. So this was a bit of a splurge for me. But since I love the results so much I will repurchase. The packaging is simple but sleek, verging on boring but I still like it. Not bulky, not gimmicks, just straight to point when it comes to the packaging. I have no excess mascara around the rim of the tube or any problems like that, the right amount comes out. My eyes are fairly big and this brush fits my lashes quite well - doesn't feel uncomfortable. I do notice in all the pictures of High Impact the tube and applicator are both black, while mine has a silver top and black tube. Made me double check if I received the right mascara. Maybe they changed it within the past year?
Overall:
+ Great volume!
+ Lengthens well
+ Little clumping, no crunchy/hard texture to lashes
+ Easy to remove
- Some smudging
- Price is decent continued >>

My HG mascara. Absolutely love it. Volumises, lengthens, great colour. Stays good right to the end of the tube. Have re-purchased five or six times already.

The formulation on this is very silky and smooth. However, it has a very wet formula which I don't prefer :(
My lashes are already quite long and thick, so when I put this on it makes them stick together very easily =/
I bought this on a whim when I needed a new mascara and got tired of using my previous one.
Oh man, this is definitely my new HG mascara. It makes my lashes look thick and long but still totally natural. I bought it in black and I love how it's not quite inky jet black, but it looks like how naturally black lashes should look. (My eyelashes are brown, fyi).
It fans out my lashes nicely and defines them very well.
I do find that if you're in a hurry and slap it on, it'll get clumpy. But if you don't rush, it makes all the difference. I love this mascara for a nice everyday one. And honestly, I would rather pay the extra 5 bucks for a NICE mascara than mess around with drugstore ones. I usually have nothing but trouble there.
