For years I used Lancome's Definicils mascara and always swore by it. Then I started using more DS mascaras because I found them to be just about as good for less than half the price. Ever on the lookout for a decent mascara for my sparse lashes, however, I picked up one of these when I was in Sephora a few months ago. I have been very disappointed in it, I have to admit. It is messy - clumps a lot - and I don't like the way the wand works on my shorter lashes. I wouldn't buy another one.
I did not love this mascara. I had to work way too hard to make it look decent. At first the formula was too wet then flaky and clumpy. It didn't give me any noticeable volume or length. I have had drugstore mascaras that give way better results.
This mascara isn't the best thing I have tried but isnt the worst thing I have tried either. I am a make-up artist and manager of a cosmetics store and I have tried a ton of different products, and in honesty for all the hype behind this mascara I was kind of disapointed. The price is high but that's be cause it is Lancome. Personally I will stick with Lancome L'Extreme.
My HG of Mascara, i LOVE it, much better than my YSL faux effects, i think this is amazing and cant understand why its not got a higher rating!!
Meh! I like the regular Hypnose better. The brush on this one is bent at weird angles and is really pokey and sharp... uncomfortable to use. I'm not sure why they think a brush that looks like it was bitten by a chihuahua would add 'drama' to the lashes, and the weird shape makes it hard to properly get into the base of the lashes (imperative for those with blonde lashes like me) or even attack those little lashes on the inside corners. It doesn't provide any more "drama" or volume to the lashes than regular Hypnose either... in fact, I think it's 'volume' pales in comparison to the original. Back to the drawing board with this one, Lancome.
My lashes go to greater heights with this mascara. My lashes are not as thick and wonderful as they used to be. But, I heat up my eyelash curler with the blowdryer, curl my lashes and put two coats off this stuff on and man...do I ever feel great! My lashes are very dramatic. That is the look I like. I want to SEE my eyelashes. It's good and back, and is my favorite mascara since they quit making one of their other ones that was pretty good like that. I hope they come out with a Bright Blue one as well!
Mascara is my staple cosmetic, and I have tried quite a few. After trying Lancome Extencils, and being pretty disappointed, I resolved I would never purchase another Lancome mascara. However, I received a small tube of Hypnose Drama in a gift set of samples. LOVE it! It really brings "drama" to my lashes, and doesn't leave them *crunchy*. I deducted 1 lippie, however, because the wand inevitably results in mascara winding up on my lids and above my lashline. It's easily fixed with a swipe of a wet cotton swab, yet that's one extra step in my routine.
Pros: the very black color, give good length, some volume
Cons: The nasty flowery smell, flakes, clumps, ANIMAL TESTING
I got a sample from my MIL in my Christmas Stocking... yikes. I never purchase Lancome because they test on animals. The first time I put it on I just put a coat over my regular mascara at the end of the day which gave me more length and a little more volume. I thought it was okay other than the smell... But the nezt day I tried it on bare lashes...
It still smells horrible, the brush is a little awkward at first but I can get used to it. It leaves clumps and flakes within an hour... I do love the fact that it give a nice length and the color is beautiful.
I won't take the time to brush out the clumps... Why the heck would I pay so much money for a mascara that won't do the job on it's own? The fragrance makes my eyes dry and the flakes drive me crazy.
I don';t buy their products because their products are tested on animals. Even if they stopped using animals for testing, I still wouldn't purchase this product.
I got the sample size of this when I bought something from the Lancome website. I'm always weary of the more expensive brands of mascara because I know there's always a cheaper alternative and I honestly don't care for them. Just for the record, I'm Asian so my lashes are thin and short. By itself, Hypnose Drama adds an okay amount of volume, but adds a good amount of length. If you pair it with Lancome Cils Booster (also got this as a sample), then you will see great results. It adds sufficient volume, curl and length. Almost looks like I have falsies on. No need for eyelash curlers if you use this! It can get clumpy but that can be avoided with proper application. I usually never have any major clumping with this.
Downside: the price. Would I actually buy the full size? Maybe... if Max Factor discontinues their Masterpiece Mascara, I just might.
HOLY MOLY! My HG mascara! Perfect amount of length, perfect amount of volume! I have yet to find anything that matches it! It does not flake, has great wear and I LOVE the way it looks on me!
