Terrible, terrible mascara. It clumps. It didn't help my eyelashes getting longer and thicker. It looked so messy on me. I know a lot of budget mascaras (Maybelline, for example) that work a LOT better. For paying such a big amount of money, you expect it to be great. I'll only be using this on my lower lashes, just to get them a little darker. Won't repurchase, ever.
I decided to try the Hypnose Drama after being a fan of the Hypnose, which had become a makeup staple in my daily routine.
The Drama is meant to give you a more dramatic lash look, but personally I find the general Hypnose mascara better - just seems to coat my lashes better and gives a more fuller look.
I also don't find the Drama wand as friendly to use and the brush doesn't coat as well as the Hypnose, but was worth the try, although I can't see alot of difference witht he 2 products.
I was in a rush and was only able to grab a sample size of this mascara and some powder. So I wore it without using an eyelash curler and eyeshadow. Great results, my lashes are naturally long but this lengthened them to where they looked fake! It clumps a bit though :/ Overall, good but I can't justify paying that much for a mascara!
OMG! Hypnose Drama is my absolute favorite mascara. I am a total mascara junkie and have tried many different mascaras from drug store to high end...and I love everything about this mascara. My lashes are naturally long so I always look for a mascara that gives me volume and drama. And Hyponse Drama is everything im looking for in a mascara. It doesnt clump, its bulidable, it doesnt flake. Love Love this mascara! I strongly recommand :)
I have long, pretty thick lashes, this mascara looked very clumpy so I tried spreading it with my finger. it is very black (that's a pro) but the formula is very thick (looks clumpy) and this is really expensive and not worth the money for me, too unnatural.
This mascara is pretty expensive. And for what it offers...totally not worth it!
First of all, the formula is kind of clumpy, and I always manage to get it above or below my eyes. Second, the brush is pretty odd. In theory, you would think that it would work but it really just funnels to much products onto the lashes, making them look clumped. Third, this mascara is hard to remove. Usually a few swipes of eye makeup remover will take away all my mascara, but this stuff lingers, and I wake up with dark gunk under my eyes that is still stubborn and won't come off.
If it were a cheaper mascara, I could possibly see it being more popular. But I don't like paying lots of money for a product I'm just not impressed with. Save your cash...Lancome has other mascaras that work better.
Nope nope no no no. Ughh. What is with that wonky brush? I'm sure the formula works well but not with that brush! What were they thinking? Definicils is very nice, but this one, not so much. I tried it with a different brush but what's the point of that? I am now convinced, mascara is just all in the brush. And my brush picks are; L'oreal Telescopic, Dior torture ball brush and the little plastic comb-y thing I have that might be for eyebrows. Glad this was just a deluxe sample and I didn't pay for it. Now I wish I hadn't been such a sweetheart and given my Laura Mercier sample away for nothing, I might have liked it.
Update Septemb, 2012
NANCY - If you're looking at this review, you're thinking about trying this again. For the love of all that's holy, DON'T. You've tried it twice and both times it was horrible. Don't spend a godawful amount of money on a mascara you're going to throw away after a week. Buck up, buttercup. Your HG mascara is out there. You'll find it someday.
How in god's name am I supposed to apply this mascara? I design huge computer systems for a living and I cannot figure out this brush. I knew I should have stayed in Engineering school!
The crazy thing is that if the brush weren't crooked, it might be a half decent mascara.
I tried and tried and tried and did get a nice couple of coats on my lashes and it volumized pretty well. It left three very voluminous clumps of lashes right in the middle of my eye. I had to use a spoolie to separate them and that removed most of the mascara.
Thank goodness I got this as part of a kit. Otherwise I would have felt terrible throwing away such an expensive product.
This stuff FLAKES like crazy, and I just don't get this brush. Yes, I can get the product on my lashes with it, but the "special" way you're supposed to use the brush (apply with one side, finish with the other) doesn't do anything for me--I usually have to use my metal lash comb to separate and distribute the product.
I should add that I'm also using the Lancome mascara base, Cils XL, with this. Maybe that's the culprit. (I usually use the Shiseido mascara base, but decided to try Lancome's).
I do like the rich, black color of this mascara.
New Lancome Ultra Lavande Top Coat Mascaras.
I bought the gold flecked sparkly violet top coat mascara and was so excited i could hardly wait to try it on. This particular mascara is meant to be applied on top of your usual mascara. However, whilst it looked delectable on the brush -a violet, sparkly gold wonder fluid - it was somewhat dissapointing. It does thicken lashes granted but you would need to get grandad's magnifying glass out to see any sparkle or indeed violet colour. It Just looks black!
For me a total waste of good money!
