It looks great, but it makes my eyes SO SORE. My eyes are a little sensitive, but sheesh.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! Love even more than WNW's liner. It's cheaper but quite frankly, I prefer the quality over WNW. It's super creamy, very pigmented, and the accompanying brush is actually really good! This is my latest purchase of ELF's Studio Liners and I'm planning on getting them in all colors. Can't beat getting a product THIS good for only $3.
So this is my first foray into gel liners (no risk at all at $3 a pop,) and while I have no basis for comparison, it easily achieved the look and performance I expected from a gel liner, at an unbeatable price.
First impressions: Smudges a bit if you touch it of course, but I find it stays in place better than pencil eyeliners, though not as well as liquid liners. Holds up to rubbing and tears far better than both. More artful and precise than pencil liners, but with a much softer and more natural effect than harsh-looking liquid liners. The dark brown is perfect for that artfully-enhanced natural look, and I wear it now as part of my daily look. The brush is crap, a bit too thick and blunt to easily achieve real precision, but it works in a pinch.
I recently purchased a MAC 263 eyeliner brush and I wanted to try it out, but wasn't ready to fork over more for fluidline just yet. I really like this e.l.f. eyeliner and the packaging is cute. I think it's a bit too opaque and I find my self using at least 2 coats to get the blackest black winged look that I like. But, given it was only $3, I'm not complaining. Can't say anything much about the brush it came with (since I obv didn't use it) but that it looked way too tiny to be comfortable. I still think I will buy fluidline from MAC, but I like to have this little pot as a back up in my make up stash.
This is the first gel/cream eyeliner I have tried aside form a pencil. I bought this in black and it comes with a small angled applicator brush. The eyeliner is creamy and is pigmented very dark. Some people don't like the brush, but I actually like it because the handle is small and I feel like I have more control of it. This stuff is perfect for lining the top of your eyelid or creating a nice thick winged eyeliner look. Also, it lasts all day and doesn't even smuge--I have to use soap and water or eye makeup remover to actually get it all off.
My only con is that when you use the applicator brush and then leave it with the eyeliner on it after you're done, the next time you go to use it the bristles are hard. But the quick fix is that if you run it under some warm soap and water, its good as new. I actually like wetting the brush first anyway before applying because it picks up product more evenly.
Overall, I'd definitely repurchase cuz its cheap and it works great!
Doesn't dry out quickly
You get lots of product
Comes with a good brush
I find it can smudge and sit in the crease, even with a primer on, but for the price it doesnt matter
Works great! The price can't be beat and I even was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the little brush it came with. I have two of these eyeliners and the brush on one is fabulous while the brush on the other may need a little trimming :) I have purchased ALOT of E.L.F. products and have noticed some difference between two of the same items. Quaility control is a bit of an issue. I think that is why ratings are so mixed on many of E.L.F. products. ex. I bought twelve mirror compacts and three of them latch tightly six of them latch loosely and three of them don't latch at all. Huh.
I do enjoy some ELF products. I think that they are pretty much hit and miss. I heard good things about their cream eyeliner, so I decided to try it. I went to Target and picked up three of them in different colors. I got home, opened them and every single one of them was completely dried up! They were brand new and in the packaging when I bought them. If they were in an airtight container/packaging, they should not have dried up on the shelf! These little guys are pretty cheap but it was a waste of money to buy an unusable product. I returned them to Target and I will not repurchase.
I have this in gunmetal & black.
The first time I tried the black one? Smudged like crazy. I looked like a panda after a couple hours. Tried the gunmetal one and it stayed put.
I tried it again now - this time using AN EYESHADOW BASE (I used the NYX HD one). The black doesn't budge at ALL. Through sports and sweating and hot weather - this stuff stays on my lids and off the rest of my face.
EDIT: Also, toss the brush out. That also impacted my first impression on it, but now it's junk and I'm used a slanted Crayola paint brush, lol.
I actually prefer the E.L.F. Studio Cream liner over Coastal Scents. I really don't have any smudging issues. As a matter of fact, when I received one of mine, I put it on my arm and waited a few minutes and swiped it. It didn't budge. And it lasted all day on my arm. I don't have much luck on the waterline but it stays nicely on my upper eyelid. I have Metallic Olive which is a beautifully shimmery olive green and the plum one. I actually prefer Maybelline's eggplant over this one but it's still a beautiful color and would probably look wonderful on green eyes. It looks nice with my bluish grey eyes. I'd try other colors.
