I actually like this product, BUT I hate the dispenser. It is impossible to just dispense a tiny bit and that's all you need. When you press down on the top button, it glops out with WAY more than you could use on your eyes.....perhaps that's why some say the color doesn't work for them. Try using just a tiny, tiny drop so that it just lightly covers your eyelid. I also had an issue with it not dispensing at all, but I solved that issue by storing it upside down. I have small eyes & liners always trasfer to my upper lid and I've found that this product does help. It's worth a try if you haven't found a lid primer that works for you.
I really like this. It works really well - it makes my eyeshadow stay on way longer and look a lot more vibrant. It made even the cheapiest crappiest eyeshadow look really good. The only thing I didn't like was the colour was a bit strange, but other then that it was really great.
I gave this to my 19-yr-old sister because her skin is darker and she was having trouble with her liner/shadow disappearing under her eyes. So far, I don't know if she likes it. It was too dark for my very, very fair skin. I did find it worked well at keeping eye makeup and concealer on but it's a little too dry & creasy if you have any fine lines. Of course, the lack of a good color match will make any creasing look that much worse. I much prefer using my Bobbi Brown correcter & concealer + coverfx powder on top. Doesn't crease and keeps mascara or makeup from spreading.
Oh, and YES, WAY too much product comes out. It's all or nothing.
I've used this for 2 weeks now - got a deluxe sample from Ulta. I really like this primer and am surprised at the negative reviews. I see that women in my age group give this a higher rating than the overall ratings. It keeps my shadow in place all day, keeps it from creasing, and helps amp-up the color. I tried Urban Decay Primer Potion a few years ago and didn't get good results. If you, like me, have avoided eye primers or didn't like UDPP, give this a try. I'll be purchasing a full-size.
I received this in a 500 point Beauty Insider prize from Sephora as a small tube with a doe foot applicator (not the pump of the full size version).
The primer itself is very creamy and thick, much more so than UDPP. It is also a warm yellow color that is a bit lighter than my NC25 skintone, but blends in well enough. This primer worked well to cover some of the splotchiness of my eyelid, but it didn't make my eyeshadows last unfortunately. I wasn't doing anything more than sitting and doing school work for a few hours when I noticed that my oily folding eyelids had caused the primer to disappear and my eyeshadow to crease.
As far as an eyeshadow primer this is worse than useless, but it a very creamy concealer. I just wouldn't expect this to last all day if you have oily skin.
purpose for me buying: quest to conceal under eye circles & this purple vein (EW!) under one eye. I wanted to try either Erase Paste or the kit Confessions of a Concealoholic. The Benefit girl put StayDon'tStray on me under Erase Paste--and for the FIRST time, my under eye issues were gone! i like that StayDon'tStray has additional color in it (hides more!)
ME: very dry skin
PROS of SDS:
if put on correctly, it helps concealer and eye shadow LAST all day with perfection (yeah!)
1) dispenses way too much. i didn't want to use it on my eyes, but do b/c so much comes out that i don't want to toss. (prefer MAC painterly).
2) if i don't moisturize WELL ( very dry skin ) meaning serum then moisturizing cream &/or eye cream before SDS and Erase Paste it WILL crease and show fine lines i've never seen before. :(
OVERALL: fix the dispenser &i'll rebuy...'cos bottom line... SDS +erase paste=no under eye uglies all day!
[can't imagine using just SDS as the only concealer... wouldn't work for me]
This primer is thick and hard to soak in after application, let alone to prime lids for eyeshadows and concealers. It only comes in one shade which does not match my NC25 skin, it's way too pale. Plus the squeeze pump bottle dispenses LOTS of products each time (i have to use it all over...).
Don't be bothered to get this primer, get some other eyeshadow primers instead!
wow i'm surprised how low the rating for this baby is. ever since i got this, my UDPP is now sitting in the corner by itself. stay don't stray comes in a little bottle with a pump to dispense the product out, i have to admit, the pump is not the greatest thing since it always pump out too much product and the key to get the best benefit from this product is to only use a little bit. also, if you have darker skintone, this might not work for you. i have NC 30 - 35 and this brightens up my whole lid area. also, i tried using UDPP on one eye and stay don't stray on the other stay don't stray won UDPP by far. SDS makes my eyeshadow more vibrant and also it blends a lot easier comparing to UDPP. my eyeshadow/eyeliner stays put ALL DAY, ever after a long day and going to the gym! but don't get me wrong, i still love my UDPP but if i ever run out of my UDPP, i would no repurchase it as i'd rather purchase SDS over it.
I got a deluxe sample size of this stuff from Sephora as a 100 point perk or something. I always use two faced shadow insurance or UD Primer Potion...but saw this kicking around in my makeup case and thought it would be the same thing. Boy was I wrong! This is the first time in years that I have gone to remove my makeup in the evening and found my eyeshadow to be a huge creasy mess! I feel like my shadow would have stayed better without this product at all. Instead of holding my shadow...it made it slide. This will be going in the trash because it is trash.
The packaging for BeneFit Stay Don't Stray proclaims to be a primer and a concealer. Well, I have a different opinion of this product. First, the product has a pump, which is good, however it dispenses too much of the product . It is extremely wasteful. At 24.00 a bottle, waste must be kept to a minimum.Second, if you have any real darkness around the eye, it just doesn't cover. I am a women of color (light caramel), it looked like I had cream color paste around my eyes. That is not attractive. Third, the reason that I purchased this product, as a primer. It falls short in the realm of primers. It was very difficult to place the eye shadows and blend. The brush just dragged across the primer. It never looked right the colors were dull. The worst part is that it creased within two hours. I tried it everyday for a week. I used different methods of applications and it still didn't work. Not the product that I thought it would be.
