After consistently spending money I didn't have on expensive foundations, I decided to head back to boots and pick up a drug-store foundation. Having seen the adverts to this I was interested by the dewy finish - exactly what I'm after, but with a bit more coverage as my skin isn't perfect. The colour looked ok, the consistency ok, everything ok - not fantastic but ok for everyday..until a few days later when my chin and nose, having been a bit itchy, went dry and the skin flaked off and my skin went bumpy. After giving my skin a week of rest I was determined to believe it wasn't the foundation (I was really broke ok and couldn't afford to buy another!) but the same thing happened again, obviously something in this foundation is upsetting my skin. It's single-handedly put me off drugstore foundations and I'm back to high-end I'm afraid. I've recently bought chanel's vitalumiere aqua which is a similar effect but better matched colour and will hopefully be better quality. If you don't have sensitive skin (I didn't think I had but...) then this product might be great for you, it's got good coverage for a dewy-type foundation and is buildable and doesn't sit on your skin. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, however I can never throw away makeup and i keep using it now and again, I never learn.
I bought the lightest shade of this (100 - Ivory, I'm a MAC NW15ish). It was on offer when I bought it (£4.98 I think!) so I figured it was worth a try.
In the bottle it looks very shimmery in even not very bright light but on my face it seemed OK. The colour match is pretty good after it settles down, for the first few minutes I looked very orange but it seemed to sort itself out and match up with my skintone. I wore it around the house a few times and decided to wear it to work. I was washing my hands in the bathroom and thought I'd got a bit of glitter on my face, so I got up a bit closer to the mirror to get rid of it and my entire face looked like I'd been dipped in shimmer. The light in that bathroom is very bright so I guess it made it show up more than in my poorly lit living room.
I've worn it a couple of times since then on duller days and it is still quite shimmery if I get up close but not twilight vampire like, although still a bit off putting.
I have a very oily t-zone and normal everywhere else and it lasted all day with a powder to set, with minimal blotting during the day.
I've used it maybe 3 or 4 times and a good amount of the product seems to have gone out of the bottle (maybe 3/4 are left) despite only using 1 pump per application. Definitely would not buy this again and I'm doubtful that I will even finish this bottle.
I firstly bought this foundation because of all the hype it produced on twitter and tumblr. When I first bought this foundation I looked in the bottle and thought one thing, glitter. There is a moderate amount of glitter (advertised as "light reflecting particles") in this foundation but it is only really visible in the harshest of light, even then it doesn't bother me. This foundation has a very nice creamy texture and blends out fantastically with a medium coverage. The foundation itself has a nice satin, smooth feeling finish on the skin. The colours all have a yellow undertone so I would definitely not recommend this to people with redness. Combined with a pressed power, this foundation lasted all day which I was impressed with. People with combination skin, beware as on first use I foolishly did not cleanse before using this foundation and it broke me out, so on first use I would very much recommend to using it sparingly.
In conclusion, this foundation has a fair share of flaws, but I like it enough that it is now my daily foundation. I would recommend this foundation for people who are looking for something for the summer to look nice, rather than something to wear to work or the office.
Dont get me wrong this is not a bad foundation, it goes on nicely has a nice texture and consistenancy and coverage, It's just the colour! It is so awful and makes me look GREY! I have a very yellow based colour and this was more pink beige....wasnt good. Do not recommend this for Olive complexions....I used true nude..I am a NC35 in MAC.
I tries this product on a magazine sample and I loved it! For some reason when I bought the product it turned out to be much more runny than the sample, making it very hard to apply. I also find that the product makes my skin oili and doesn't cover any blemishes or imperfections. However, it does make your skin glow and look healthy.
I think it is just not the product for my type of skin...
Absolutely horrified when I tried this foundation and realized that for the past few years I've been paying too much for high brand foundations when this cheapy does the exact same thing, if not more! I'm in LOVE with this foundation. I'm very pale, and I feel that the lightest shade actually really suits me. The application is easy, pump action makes it even better and the packaging is gorgeous. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and I'm already almost out. I'll definitely be repurchasing as I can't get enough of how awake and even toned my skin looks! And if that isn't enough it has SPF 15 in it too! Congrats Rimmel for making such a perfect product! I liked it so much that I purchased the concealer too. (I hope that it affects me in the same way!)
I actually quite like this. I wasn't expecting too much, but I do know that Rimmel make quite good foundations for the money.
It's quite lovely... provides medium coverage, doesn't look cakey, doesn't look crazy shimmery - just very mildly 'radiant'. It didn't oxidise on my skin.
I think this is a good foundation, and I would repurchase based on its qualities. In fact, I have purchased 2 already - I mix 'True Ivory' and 'Soft Beige'... I even got complimented on my 'radiant glow' when wearing this foundation!
So, after Reading so many reviews on this product i finally decided to buy it. i had just finished off my clarins foundation and had been eager to try out a new foundation. i went into the drugstore and bought this product a few days ago & surprisingly the price was reduced from 10.95 to 6.95 so for that price i couldnt leave it. so, the way im going to review it is by :packaging, quantity, application, finish and conclusion. Ill find it easier this way.
So, the bottle is quite nice. It has an orange lid & in a glass bottle. Theres not much to say about the packaging, but it has a pump which is a bonus
There is 30mls in this product, which is the same for most products.
This product is quite runny, so its better to apply with a stippling brush or foundation brush. i tried using my fingers, but it just went a bit patchy which i didnt like.
The finish is sheer. The coverage is medium. maybe when powder is applied it looks a bit more matte, but their is a little bit of shimmer in the actual product so, its more of a sheer finish
overall this product does deliver. If you have blemishes, or freckles (like me) it doesnt do much to hide them, so concealor or panstick as i use is best to put on over it. For the price of it, i would definetely purchase again, ive had no breakouts with it. The only problem is, the lightest shade is still a little bit too dark for my skin tone. The colour Range could be improved, but yes, this is a nice fresh foundation. This is my own personal opinion.
Thought I would try this as am at the age where i need all the help i can get with the glow. I usually use lanome or chanel foundation but this one is just as good. I couldn't believe it really - it was only a fiver in asda but it has a pump dispenser, lovely smooth texture, covers well but no too cakey and really does make you look like you've had your 8 hours! Gives a lovely natural luminous glow. i use the ivory shade, am a NW20.
I love this foundation! I'm already on my second bottle in the shade True Ivory. When I first bought it, I was unsure about the shimmer in the foundation - I thought I might look like a disco ball with it on! But its actually a really lovely product, it makes my skin look glowy, it has good coverage and it even lasts a while on my oily skin! Plus for £8.99, its really cheap for such a great foundation!
