I am extremely picky about mascara and have probably tried every brand on the market plus a handful of high end expensive ones. This is not too bad! I have nice lashes anyway with a great natural curl. The tips of the lashes hit my brow bone so it doesn't take much to give me a "false lash effect." This mascara is more on the dry side, but I like that MUCH better than the wet gloppy stuff. I have found that this works beautifully if I use a lash primer underneath it. Right now I'm using up the primer end on the L'Oreal tubing mascara because that mascara is horrific. But the white primer isn't too bad. So that primer with this mascara on top = long, thick, extremely volumized lashes! I never really have any problems with bleeding or raccoon eyes, probably because I am so dry skinned. Not a speck of oil to be found on me! I only gave it a mark of '4' because it does work much better with the primer underneath it. Still not my favorite, but it's not bad at all! I'm happy :-)
This review is for Blackest Black in both the regular and waterproof versions:
Positives: nice packaging, easy to apply, inexpensive, made lashes look great at first, no clumps.
Negatives: after 2 - 3 hours, I was getting that "racooning" effect where the mascara seems to be bleeding into the tiny creases beneath my eyes. Also, this stuff made my eyes water after a couple of hours and I think this was due to the aforementioned "bleeding".
I really wanted to like this product but ended up returning both versions. I will stick with my ultra-expensive Trish McAvoy mascara.
Ok, this NOT a mascara you can slap on and go in 2 minutes. I also find I get a great look much easier if I use just a regular type of mascara (such as Maybelline Full N Soft) as a base for this. Why it works better, I have no idea, but it does. You have to take your time putting this on. I find that GENTLY brushing it on in several coats works much better than trying to get it all on in one coat. I just don't understand the bad reviews for two reasons. I really don't have great lashes .. I''m blonde .. they're light and scarce, yet I get the most fabulous look from this mascara more than any other mascara I've tried whether high or low end. In fact, I just got a sample of a Dior mascara .. the one with the curly type of wand? ... and this outperform Dior by far. Secondly, some you ladies just never seem to be happy ... you complain that a masacara did nothing for your lashes, then you complain this one is too goopy or whatever the complaint is. Do you just slap eyeshadow on or do you take your time to make sure the shading is just right, blended correctly, eyeliner perfect? How much time do you spend on your hair? Then why does it seem such a chore for y'all to spend a little time getting your mascara just right?
Wow, what a disappointment! This mascara was incredibly dry and did nothing for my lashes. I wanted to like this, but unfortunately, I found it to be a waste of money.
Wowee I love this mascara! Initially I was apprehensive after reading all of the reviews but gave it a shot anyways. I have long, very thin eyelashes that have a natural curl to them. If I don't have mascara on you can't see the darn things. I wear contacts and have extremely dry sensitive eyes. I look for non-irritating mascaras that mainly will volumize and give some definition by separating my lashes. After using it for a few weeks I almost feel like this gives more volume than the voluminous million lashes.
I have not experienced any flaking or smudging. I am not sure why other experience it but maybe it is due to an eye cream, skin care, or even foundation/concealer they are using. I know that if I do not powder under my eyes and my eyelids I will definitely have smudging and flaking. Just a tip. :o)
I will buy this again. I do wish it was a little cheaper or stores would actually have buy one get one free deals every once in a while rather than buy one get one 50% off.
Best mascara ever! I love it my lashes look amazing. Gave me a totally false looking lashes effect I experienced no flaking, just beautiful lashes
Maybe the best mascara ever! (and I've got a collection going so I've tried more than a few)...I was planning on trying the ready to wear lash extensions (fibers that you use with mascara) but this is tons easier and I'm not sure I would even WANT them longer/fatter than this. Up to now, the L'oreal Telescopic was my go-to, but just a couple times using this and I'm in mascara love :-)...
This is one of the best mascaras I have ever used. It gives me instant impact both with length and volume, and I don't have to apply multiple coats to get the effect I want. The more coats you apply, however, the more WOW your lashes look. I am shocked that more people didn't love this product. My lashes are medium-long and medium-thick and this works so well for me. I rate it up there with Diorshow and YSL Faux Cils. It stays on forever and I am using the non-waterproof formula. A trick I use with mascara is to touch the tip of the wand to to the tips of your upper lashes first in a quick fanning motion, and then wiggle the side of the wand up (horizontally) from the base of your lashes. This gives the best length in my opinion. Everyone's lashes are different and I suppose nothing works for everyone, but this is my go-to bargain mascara, hands down!
wanted so bad to love this mascara i cant believe loreal made this its the worst i have used in a long time,im a mascara junkie so im always buying new ones.this one flakes like crazy no curl,no lenght just flaky clumpy ugly looking lashes,i like long thick false looking lashes and this did nothing but flake all day, loreal please step up your mascara game because at this rate i will be buying maybelline they have been putting out one great product after another.loreal brings out maybe one mascara a year and this is what they bring.hated it sorry
this is one of the absolute WORST products i have ever used in my life.. i debated on purchasing this for days. i finally took the plunge, and was extremely disappointed..
upon opening, it was pretty clumpy, and already drying out.. now, i had done some research before buying, on some blogs, and the reviews said it was a drier formula but was still fantastic.. i was expecting a slightly less wet version, not this already dried out open for months crap.. i purchased this in the darkest black it has, and it looked grey.. i love colored mascaras, but grey does not look right on anyone.
before running back to the store, to get a refund, i gave it 3 days.. i wanted this to work so bad.. after forcing this on my already curled lashes, it immediately began to flake off, and peel. it then totally killed the curl i had, making them stick straight, and very heavy looking. that was only after 2 coats.. and it hurt my eyes so bad.. there is something in this mess of a formula, that literally made my eyelashes hurt.. this isn't from the fibers itself.. its an ingredient in the formula.. this isn't my first fiber mascara.. i have used MISSHA, KATE, and Hard Candy brands, and i never ever had a reaction like this...
