I've erased my old review, as I've been using Careprost for about a year, and thought that that kindof review might also be helpful.
I tightlined careprost every night on my upper and lower lashes, and my eyelashes were (are) beautiful. I started noticing that the skin around my eyes- and my eyelids- was getting really sensitive- I actually just zapped on the fact that it could be the careprost, as I hadn't had any issues with it at all for the entire time I'd been using it- but I'd get these little raised bumps, or if my eyes teared, where they would run would be rash-ey. I started using under-eye creams (which I never had before) as I just thought it was the aging process! But every cream or serum gave me a rash. I don't know when I woke up, but I did, and decided to give the careprost a break.
But not completely- I bought Mavala Double Lash! hee hee.
But sure enough, as soon as I stopped the Careprost, my entire eye area lightened about 3 shades. I hadn't even noticed how dark it was- I just kept covering it up with makeup. It was the first time in my life I needed undereye concealer. Again, I thought it was just age...
I of course was worried about my lashes falling out and being short again- so I've been using a lash conditioner (and I use coconut oil to remove my waterproof makeup) and I'll use the careprost once a week, or maybe once every two weeks, for a couple of days. Then I'll stop and use a bit of Mavala, sometimes nothing, and so far, so good :) Will update if they all fall out.
For anybody who's using Careprost, it's fine, but if you feel like you always look tired or worn out or you're using more makeup or those kindof things- stop for a bit and see what happens. And keep condtioning your lashes and taking care of them, even while using Careprost- it's a good habit to get into.
I'm not sure how much left I have in my last little bottle, but I'll see when I'm done with it how my lashes have evolved, and figure out if I'm going to rebuy
Hope this helped.
I've been using the Alldaychemist Latisse (careprost) for 4 months now. I love it. Every night, I've applied it to my upper lash line and to the ends of my brows using the provided liner brush (great brush actually). I use one drop for both eyes and just drop it into the lid. I've seen a great amount of lengthening, a little thickening. The ends of my brows have grown back after I waaay over tweezed them back in the 90's (thanks Kate Moss). This product will make hair grow wherever you consistently apply it. I now have lashes growing on my tear duct. I carefully pull the tear duct lashes out, but it's a little inconvenience that comes along with these looong lashes. I have some pictures in profile of the effects I've had. A lot of negative response comes from pictures of "Latisse Lashes". Spidery, creepy, scary even. I've never had anything but positive comments on my lashes in real life. I've sold this to several women, and now I have lots of friends to share shipping costs on future alldaychemist orders because they want to try this product. I will say, however, that Latisse lashes with improperly applied mascara are not pretty. I had some irritation from this during my first 2 weeks or so. I also haven't had any lid darkening or iris pigmentation issues. Still have green eyes. I'm in maintenance with this product, so I apply it every other night, sometimes less often. I use castor oil when I don't use the careprost. I adore this stuff and will continue to use it.
* A note about how my mascara needs have changes since using careprost- Mascaras that work the best for me now are NOT thickening/volume formulas. Even my Maybelline Full n Soft and Fresh Supernova tend to get overwhelming. My favorite by far has been Cover Girl Lash Blast Length. It separates and gives just enough darkness, and will not transfer. I always remember to get both sides of my lashes, because they are so long that a lack of mascara on the tops of the lashes is strange looking. Once I get my lengthening mascara on, I apply just a little of a thickening mascara (Lash Blast volume, Full n Soft, Supernova, Voluminous etc) right at the base of the lashes. If I take it out to the tips, thats when I get problems with spidery lashes or the little clumps that stick on the ends. After I apply mascara and before it fully dries, I also always go through my lashes with a clean spoolie brush. This not only separates the lashes even more, but it helps to "style" them if you will, they are so long and curly that they kind of need to be put where you want them. The lashes on the outer corners need a bit of straightening, so I pull them out and hold them an extra 10 or so seconds on the spoolie brush.
Update 01/06/11 Well, after using this product since May, I finally stopped. My lashes and brows did wonderful on it, but I developed redness all the way around my eyes as well as a continued sensation of something in my eye as well as just general discomfort of the eyeball itself. I quit about three weeks ago and the discomfort stopped almost immediately. I wish I could use the product, but the side effects were too marked. I tried using the product every other or every third day, but my eyes didnt really stop bothering me. I may still use on my eyebrows if they look like they are thinnning, but not on my eyes. I must be sensitive or allergic to something in it. boo hoo for me.
Update 10/29/10. After 15 weeks. My lashes are much longer, thicker and darker. Some of them touch my eyebrowns when I open my eyes. My eyebrows have filled in and are growing toward each other, which I wanted (were overplucked between brows) My eyelids do seem to be darker, but a little shadow corrects it. I have used every night except 4 nights while I was out of town. Occasionally, I have a sensation of 'something' being in my eye, but can never find anything that would cause it. Could be caused by the Careprost, since I never had the problem before. I will continue applying every other night going forward and see if my gains are maintained. Oh, the excessive curliness on the outside edge of one eye seems to not as curly as before as they have gotten longer.
I ordered and received from ADC with no problem whatsoever. I have been using on my brows and lash lines for only 16 days and can already see a difference, especially on my brows. They are darker, longer and are filling in where they were sparse before. I am actually trying to get more growth on the inside brow where they were overplucked for years and now look 'too wide apart'....am seeing some growth there..not a lot yet. My lashes are already a bit longer and darker..am hoping for some more fullness on the outside edges. I will post more down the road, but so far am very satisfied. (I did have some slight irritation for the first 10 days, that has subsided) I apply in the mornings and use eyeliner only once or twice a week during the day.
*after 5 weeks my eyebrows are fuller and darker and starting to get some light growth on the inside where I had overplucked many years ago...hoping for more there. My lashes are longer and thicker, tho on my left eye theyare a little too curly on the outside edge...trying to train them to be straighter. I have felt slight itching and possibly a little sensation of pressure on my eyeball itself...I will check with a dr about this. No discoloration of my skin or my brown pupils. So far I am satisfied, but hope for more dramatic results. Will post again in 4-5 more weeks.
After 9 weeks..My brows are starting to grow on the inside (toward each other) which is what I wanted. Lashes continue to get longer and thicker(I have actually trimmed some on the eye that are straighter.) I can definately see more lashes coming in than were never there before. I have no irritation any more. I still am plagued by too curly lashes on one eye...about the outer one third of the eye. I may get one of those new heated curlers to see if that can be used to straighten the offending lashes. No lid discoloration that I can see. Later...heated curler wasnt much help. I had better luck with a little vaseline on my fingers and then with the same technique you use to curl a ribbon against a scissors, I tried to curl the lashes 'down' against my first finger with my thumbnail, if that makes any sense.
Alright. So I just recieved my Careprost in the mail yesterday! & I am SOOO excited to try it out!! I'm kind of scared of the side effects though..BUT sooo excitedd! I'm asian so I have really short & straight lashes & I've just been dying for some real long & curly lashes!! I usually wear faslies almost everyday because I just hate my short lashes, & I really hope this product works for meee & then I would just be the happiest person on earthhh!!! :D
Anyways, I'm using one/two drop in the bottle cap at night & sometimes one in the morning(hopefully I'll get faster results~) & nothing serious really happened yet. their is a slight dryness to my eye when I wake up but not really any reddening & I do notice a little bit of pinkness around my eye but I'm not sure if that was their before or not -.-
Also how come A LOT of peope said that the brush was bad??o.o I think the eyeliner brush is GREAT!! It's like perfect, it makes the application so much easier!!I love it:D
Oh! & I'm also using Mavala & I started using that around 1 week ago & I think it's really helping on making my lashes thicker & healthier so I really suggest you all to use this while you are using Careprost because Careprost might make your lashes longer but it doesn't mean they won't fall out!! So buy Mavala its pretty cheap too!! You have nothing to loose :D
I'll update results later!! :P
I have been using Careprost for two weeks now and while it's too soon to post on results from the actual product, I wanted to speak to the fact that the product comes from India. I was a bit surprised when the package arrived (approx. 7 days from when I placed the order), to learn that it had indeed been shipped from India. It's just not everyday I receive something I've ordered from so far away! The packaging was excellent, the service was speedy (especially considering the distance the product traveled), and I have absolutely no qualms about the fact that the product came from outside the U.S. (I do not believe that the U.S. has a monopoly on the sale of safe products, nor do I fear that businesses outside the U.S. are out to steal my identity!)
I use one drop nightly, dispensing it onto a small piece of aluminum foil which I can then simply dispose of. One drop easily covers both eyes - no need to use excess product. I have noticed a very slight reddening around my eyes, but no peeling or flaking. Occasionally there is very, very slight burning sensation - but it's definitely not significant enough to dissuade me from continuing use.
I look forward to sharing my results. I know it takes awhile to see them, and as others have said here - possibly the most difficult part is having patience!
Hello, I bought my careprost a couple weeks ago from alldaychemist. They were really reliable. I know it seems kind of sketchy. I did, however, recieve my order a month later everything intact. I haven't have any problems so you should try them out. I won't review on the careprost till I have gone through one bottle. So till then!!
i just ordered this stuff in the mail but this alldaychemist.com website seems kinda sketchy...is it safe to put my credit card number here??has anyone ever gotten their identity stolen or anything from this site?
please email me if you have! email@example.com
This stuff is amazing! I have gone through 3 bottles and just reordered another 3 and plan to never be without it. I am half Asian, so had short puny lashes and wanted them to be longer, fuller and darker. Well, I've been using this daily for the past 10 months. After 12 weeks I noticed full results. I got great length, to the point that when I curl my lashes, sometimes I get smudges from my mascara on by brow bone! I noticed there was not any change in the fullness or curliness of my lashes, nor are they any thicker, just longer and darker.
When I first started using it I was getting itchiness, a bit of irritation on my upper lash line, but I don't get that anymore. Also, I noticed that in the mornings when I first woke up, my eyes were more watery, which made it a pain trying to tightline my eyeliner, so I would have to wait 10-15 minutes til it subsided. but now, I don't get that anymore either. I have brown eyes and have not noticed any color change.
With my first order from ADC, it was $10/bottle, but now it is $11 due to them including a fine eyeliner brush with each bottle. I quite like the brush and use it now instead of the Sonia Kashuk bent liner brush I was using before. it allows for very precise application. I only use one drop and it is enough for both eyes.
Edited to add Before and After pics:
After 14 weeks:
Love these! I used to have short stubby little lashes, but now they are long and thick. Ive been using the drops for about 6 months and now use them once every other day or so. They were just too long when I used them daily (imagine that). The one downside is that I have a few lashes that started growing near the corner of my eyes, that my boyfriend pointed out and said they looked weird. I just plucked the weird looking ones out, problem solved.
I would definitely not buy the brand version, they are so expensive compared to the generic.I got mine on ADC. Ive had zero negative side effects, just the occasional mildly crusty eyes when I wake up( just a little more than I would usually wake up with). I'm in love with this product!
I have only been using this product for 10 days and I have had zero side effects so far. No discoloration, no burning, no stinging, no dry eyes and no red eyes. Hopefully it will stay that way as I continue use. The down side is having to have patience. I had eyelash extensions for 2.5 months and just couldn't take it anymore, they started to bug me. One night I made a huge mistake and tried to remove them, yes by myself. Bad idea.
For 2 weeks I used another eyelash growth product (no prescription needed) which burned my eyes terribly, and after reading about Careprost I ordered it through ADC. My lashes are growing now and I am excited what the results will be at the 4 month mark.
To apply, I found what works best for me is to not drop the solution directly on the brush, but to drop a single drop on the outside very top of the product "lid/cap." (there is a small indentation on the top) I will run the top of the cap under hot water and dry it off off and then I place a single drop to create a "pool" and then dip my brush in it. One drop does both eyes!!
