I was very surprised at the quality of these inexpensive brushes. I picked them up at Walgreens on a whim - most of the time I wouldn't even think of buying makeup brushes at the drugstore. I absolutely love the mini-kabuki brush. It really works well for my mineral foundation - it applies the makeup evenly and the brush is soooo soft! I use the blush brush as a loose powder brush and really like it too. I haven't had much use for the concealer brush or the eyeshadow brush yet, but I think this set would be worth purchasing for the kabuki brush alone.
I would definitely repurchase!
I was so happy when I saw this at my local walmart. I wanted to purchase some ecotools forever, but I didn't see them anywhere in ontario, canada. I noticed one eyeshadow at walmart the other day, there were only two left, and I grabbed one. Then today, the 5 piece set (4 brushes and a little pouch) so I bought that too. They are really really soft, I think they would be good for just light application of mineral foundation, if you want more coverage these brushes aren't going to do it, but they are so soft, the kabuki brush is cute too and comparable to my everyday minerals baby kabuki. Love that I finally got these, hopefully more show up.
Best Brushes ever! They make my L'Oreal Bare Naturales apply so softly and look so amazing! And of course, they adorable. And the bag? Even more adorable! If you're looking for the best Mineral Brushes, buy these ASAP. Only like $12 for the set.
Love these brushes. They are so soft and I can blend my makeup so well with these.
Eco Tools never disappoints...I got this not or mineral makeup but for the eye brushes. the concealer brush for me is the perfect regular eye shadow brush...and i have to have any issues with it picking too much or too little color. It is also wonder to be used wet with pigments or regular shadows. and ohh my god the eye shading brush can u say THE PERFECT SMOKEY EYE?? yes finally i am able to create that smokey look in a short time...the blush brush is wonderful but i have their full size one and this one was given to my mom as a gift with a new blush...the kabuki is perfect for blending around the eyes (it feel like spa treatment) and around the nose...i also use it to create the C shape wit ha highlighter around the eyes. Just like all of their brushes they r SUPPER soft and do not shed. they dry fast...And yes i will buy them if i ever need to :)
I bought these based on the reviews and I'm glad I did. They are so soft. I like the powder brush the best; I use it for powder and blush. The kabuki is a little small but it does the job and it is a good travel size. The bristles on the eye shading brush are a little too long but it does an ok job. I use the concealer brush as an eye shadow crease brush. I always used to pass these up at CVS but now I see that they are a treasure find.
This is my first EcoTools purchase. After reading rave reviews for other brushes I decided to take a gamble on this set. Overall, I've been very happy with the purchase. I have been using the 2 eye brushes the most. I love the crease brush and have been reaching for in instead of my 217 for blending purpose. The blush brush is good for buffing and finishing powders. I'm not crazy about the mini kabuki (or the brush pouch - its too small and too narrow for other makeup brushes). I've been using the mini kabuki to dust off loose powder, etc. As is, I don't think it's dense enough to use as kabuki or for serious buffing. The head is smaller and much less dense than my Too Faced Kabuki, MAC 182, etc. But, for $10 at Rite Aid, I think this was a great purchase. Would have paid that much for the 2 eye and blush brushes alone - so I don't mind the so-so kabuki brush.
I have great respect for the green message behind Ecotools and own several of their brushes. The 5-piece set is adorable and only $10 so I grabbed it. But after trying to use this with MMU, I find that the brushes are just a little too long, soft & floppy to work well. Ecotools brushes are solidly constructed, with smooth bamboo handles, firm ferrules, and incredibly gentle synthetic bristles, so I will find something to use them for. The 2 two smaller brushes help me get concealer in and around my eyes & nose. I did find the blush/powder brush GREAT for finishing powders and blending. The kabuki will be good for travel though it's not stiff enough to perform with mineral foundation. All in all, it's not a 'bad' set, especially if you are on a budget. But not excellent for minerals, as marketed on the label. YMMV.
I positively adore this set. I had been looking for a set of travel brushes for a while, and I specifically wanted a set that had both a face brush AND a blush brush. I don't do eye makeup very much, so that wasn't too important to me. I had been considering several other options, but I just couldn't find a set I liked. Then, I went to Long's Drugs a couple nights ago and saw this! Before, they'd only had the other 5 piece set and that one doesn't have a separate blush brush. But I liked the look of this and it was 25% off at the time so I could get it for $8.62. Which is pretty freaking amazing. I've read some good things about EcoTools, so I jumped on the set even though I didn't get to feel the brushes.
I just used them this morning and I love them! The kabuki brush gives much denser, more even coverage than the original kabuki that came in my Bare Escentuals starter kit. I also think the EcoTools brushes are softer (I have, however, rather abused my BE brushes in the last 3-4 years though, including once washing them with Head and Shoulders shampoo...). The blush brush works wonderfully, as does the concealer brush. I wasn't as impressed with the eyeshadow brush because quite frankly, I don't know how to use it. I usually just use a dark shadow as a thick, smokey eyeliner on the top and bottom corners of my eyes, so I prefer to use a flat round tip brush.
I'm afraid that the brushes will get smooshed if I put them in the little bamboo bag, but I'm planning on using it to hold my mineral makeup. I like keeping the brushes in the original plastic resealable bag that they came in.
All in all, I love this brush set, and for the price, it's pretty damn amazing. I'm buying my mom a set (hopefully she'll actually use it!) and referring this to all of my friends. =)
