So far, this is my favorite foundation. Makes my skin look flawless and covers the little red capilaries w/out having to use concealor. Most foundations sink into my pores leaving little dots over my cheeks-this doesnt. One of the very few that doesnt cake or rub off. It's perfect! I set w/the so ingenious powder-perfect match.
I have worn this for 15 yrs and now that im 30something it was making me look old. Figured i was gonna have to give it up even with trying primers, moisturizers, anything. Finally i got a bright idea to first mix it half w an acne moisturizer which also mattifies without the silicones and use it as a tinted moisturizer and treatment. Then i go back over the areas needing coverage using it plain. Voila! It doesnt look masky or old dry lady faced! And it seems to stay on longer too this way! Glad i discovered using it like this or i was going to be heartbroken divorcing my fav fndt!
Double Wear was recommended to me after I complained to Estee Lauder that they didn't have a color light enough for me in their Double Matte foundation. Double Wear looked great for the first hour or two and then seemed to melt into a greasy mess on my oily skin.
I got a sample of this from Nordstrom, and I thought it was horrible. Has a lot of yellow and looked like a mask. This might work for someone with super oily skin. I just couldn't seem to get the hang of how to make this look natural yet flawless.
This is the best foundation I have used by far. I love the fact that it stays on all day long and it looks very natural. I will definitely buy this one again!
AWSOME foundation!! this foundation does everything it says it will. it lasts the entire day and if u have blemishes wont need touch ups. if your skin like mine is pretty clear only a few blemishes at times :( dont worry about concelears all that will do is make the blemish more obviouse. with this foundation all you need to do after you have applied one layer use a small makeup brush and dot on a TINY amount onto the blemish wait a few seconds and blend..it will cover absouloutly everythinggg and wont feel "cakeie" if you use a good moisturieser!!! try it ask for a sample at your EL counter cant go wrong as a makeup artist i try using it on most my clients coz it last 4 ageeeeesssssss
I've been using EL Double Wear foundation in Shell for almost 5 years now,and I absolutely love it!The thing about this foundation is,you absolutely positively HAVE to put on a very light moisterizer BEFORE you put this on!If you don't put moisterizer on your skin before this, then forget about it, it's not going to work. It's going to dry out your skin,it's going to look like crap. After the moisterizer,it will glide on,and you need only a TINY bit!I buy one bottle of this, and with everyday use it lasts me 8 months! On days when I feel lazy and I only need light coverage,I use the EL Double Matte powder in transparent. The only thing I can think of that sucks about this product is the price~it's so expensive!
Yikes... I have tried and tried to make this foundation work on my skin but no matter what I do my face always ends up looking like a scary mask! I paid AUD$63 for it and feel very ripped off. Though it does have increadible staying power - I found it sooo hard to wash off! It felt too heavy on my skin as well. It has scared me off EL foundations for a while.
I finally got around to trying this ever-popular EL foundation, and it works GREAT for me!!! The first day I wore it, someone at work commented, your makeup looks GREAT, are you wearing something different? (I answered no, lol!). My skin is pretty good -- clear, but I have a ruddy complexion and need coverage that will stay put to even out my skintone. Double Wear does the trick! The coverage, to me, is "adjustable" -- simply use less for a more sheer coverage or apply more for more coverage. I apply a little more over the ruddy areas. I have no problems at all working with this, and am left with a smooth, nice, matte finish. I did not experience any of the drying or cracking that others here mentioned -- it stayed looking nice on me all day and night. I got the shade Linen, and I am a MAC NC20. I would most definitely buy this again.
this is one of those absolutely stay-in-place foundations, which came out in the early 90s when opaque, matte, ďdonít budgeĒ bases were riding high. but donít write it off, it still has a place today! this base has a nice feel/slip, so you can blend it beautifully (and you donít need to work quickly lilke other stay put formulations). itís good coverage -- though you can actually apply it fairly sheerly (having said that, iíve found the formulation doesnít lend itself to being mixed with moisturiser to make a sheer tint that way). it doesnít move, even thru hot sweaty days! the look -- matte (but not drying, chalky or deathly!) and itís good medium coverage mean you look super-polished and elegant -- so itís perfect for job interviews, posh nights out, winterís more refined looks -- or simply those bad skin days when you feel insecure and exposed. itís very grown up! i have other lighter, more natural foundations, but there is always a place for one like this, and i always have it in my cupboard.
