Overall, a good highlighter, but not worth the money. And the packaging is AWFUL! The worst ever. A good 1/8 of my bottle ended up on the area around the mouth of the glass container. Yeah, the nail polish idea is cute, but really a terrible waste for an expensive product
This highlighter is so wonderful! It's a nice light pinky-toned shade that's prefect for people with lighter skin tones. If you have a darker skin tone or olive complexion then I would reccomend sun beam to you which is more golden/champagne-toned. However, this one works for fair skin like mine and gives me such a nice glowing healthy look. It is expensive but it obviously lasts a long time so it's worth it! The packaging can be a little difficult as the brush tends to get way too much product on it so I reccomend putting a little on the back of your hand and then using your other hand to get a little on your fingertips and apply it. It's so much easier and less messy that way.
Benefit High Beam is a liquid highlighter which comes in a nail polish bottle. The container is glass so it's got some weight to it. It cost me $28 at Sephora. The color is pinkish with a fine sparkly look. The formula is not thick or sticky but when I put it on it seemed a little heavy and so it felt like I was getting oily faster. Since the applicator is meant to put directly on the skin, returning it to the bottle probably causes contamination which would affect how long the product lasts.
I also purchased E.L.F.'s facial whip in lilac petal for $1 at Target. It comes in this little plastic tube with a very similar looking liquid. Even though it says lilac, it was more pinkish to me. It lasted just as long as the high beam and the coloring was the same. The formula didn't feel as heavy on my face and it didn't cause me to get oily. Since the applicator is a tube, you would just squeeze it out and you're not touching the inside of the container and the rest of the product.
Based on the comparison, I returned the High Beam. ELF's Essential Shimmering Facial Whip was a great dupe. the container is less heavy, application is more sanitary and the results are the same for WAAAY CHEAPER! and there's more colors to choose from on their website.
This is my holy grail highlighter! I love it. I dot it along my cheek bones, higher up just under my eyes. Gives a. Lovely glow and stays all day. When I use powder highlighters they don't stay all day. This stuff does. It also looks amazing when I have a summer tan. I use it with the Hula bronzer. A match made in heaven!
Hate this product, such a dissappointment and waste of money! in the uk we can't return used make-up products either unfortunatly, I try using this with foundation and it cakes it, or takes it right off. when I put it on bare skin there is still no amazing glow, I've tried rubbing it in, dabbing it on, mixing it with foundation but it still just looks a mess I really liked the idea of getting a little glow on my cheeks but sadly this is not giving it at all, Will never ever re purchase, might try mixing some with cream blush in future but I won't get my hopes up
I love this product. It does just what the name says. It gives such a beam of light to your face. I love to use it on my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, and on my cupid's bow (makes your lips look beautiful). The only down side (really not that bad) is that it can be a little difficult to blend. However, that will not stop me from repurchasing.
Love this product! It has fit perfectly in my summer makeup routine, but I will more than likely continue to use it all year long. I do not wear a lot of makeup, so the subtle, healthy glow is perfect and not over the top. A little expensive for such a small bottle, but I have been using it every day for a while now and have not even made a dent. Using just a few dots per sitting, it looks like this bottle will last for months. Initially, I wasn't crazy about the nail polish-style applicator, but it's not so bad now. Will be repurchasing!
I had heard a lot about Benefit High Beam and I really wanted to try it. It was hard to find, considering that Benefit products are not sold in my country. Finally, I could get a mini size of High Beam.
In the jar, the product looks quite pink but when you apply it, the product looks silvery on your skin. The effect is very subtle under artificial light but it can be quite intense (and fake) under natural light. So, you should be careful with the amount of product you apply. If you apply it properly, you'll get a very subtle luminescent effect.
The liquid formula makes High Beam a very versatile product. You can mix High Beam with your liquid foundation in order to get a subtle luminescent touch all over your face. Or you can apply it over your foundation in different areas (cheekbones, chin, forehead or any other area you want to highlight). The color is a very pale silvery, I'd recommend it for fair complexions.
However, it has a disadvantage to me. I like applying it over my foundation, on my cheekbones in order to define them. But the product tends to emphasize my open pores (and I guess it must emphasize other skin imperfections too). I know that you shouldn't apply any kind of highlighter in a zone with imperfections. It's obvious. It's a highlighter; it's designed to enhance the areas you want to show. If you don't want to show them, don't apply that kind of products. But the problem is that my foundation is good enough to hide my open pores, specially because they are not large open pores. So, High Beam was ruining the work made by my foundation. The result: a silvery (and not always a very natural) film revealing every single pore on my cheekbone area.
The product is really good when you mix it with foundation but it is not really good if you want to apply it alone, without foundation. I tried to use it without any other makeup. I just wanted to add some glow to my skin. I applied it over certain areas of my face. The result was a disaster. A totally unnatural silvery stain, hard to blend (and I must say that I applied a very tiny amount of product). I tried in a different way: I mixed High Beam with my daily moisturizer. The result was better. No silvery film on my face. No open pore effect. But the effect was so subtle that it went totally unnoticed.
I'd say the product is good and long lasting but it doesn't suit my skin. That's why I won't repurchase. I'll try to find something better for my needs.
High beam is a great product. i have just gotten into high lighters and this works well. it has a pearlescent look to it and its great on the brows and bridge of nose.
I have tanned skin and this barely shows indoors but if not blended well it will look blotchy outside. If you use a lot of this, which sometimes I do it won't look natural. I love blush so I don't use a lot of this on my cheeks but I love to use this as a brow highlighter and it works well for that. I do like to mix this with my foundation, just a tiny bit, for a dewy look and this is prefect for that.
