I got seduced into buying this in Sephora in Paris (we don't have them in the UK). It was the most I've spent on mascara (around 22), and I have to say it was a big disappointment. It didn't do anything special to my lashes (I found the effect to be similar to Great Lash), and the product in the tube dried out fairly quickly. The only good point was the gorgeous packaging, which is probably where most of my money went.

This mascara has prompted me to write my first review on MUA; it's that good! I'd been loyal to Lancome Definicils for 10+ years...the best I could find for my long, thin lashes but it was too wet for the first several weeks of use [I was forever cleaning up with a q-tip around my eyelids] and too dry thereafter. Inimitable is the perfect consistency - goes on very clean + natural-looking at first, no globs, clumps, or smears. You can continue to add layers and build it up to something quite dramatic yet lashes stay soft, not hard and crunchy like with the Definicils. It stays on really well, even slept in it accidentally and there were no Tammy-Faye blotches on my pillow. I'd love to find a drugstore mascara I like nearly as much but for now, this is a necessary splurge!

This mascara didn't do anything to my lashes ( as if the tube was empty! ) and it dried out very quickly. Waste of money.

Love love love this mascara. I have it in black and a really cool chocolate shimmery color that looks dark brown on lashes. Not clumpy at all. Thin but lengthens amazingly. Stays on all day without flakes. The brush is really cool, kind of cactus spiky. Of course the tube is beautiful and well designed because it's square and doesn't roll off the counter!

It's very rich in color and I like the brush. I don't like how it clumps and flakes. It's a little harder to take off.

I have never tried a Chanel mascara before but was intrigued because a fellow work colleague loves this mascara. I got a sample to try but I am not really impressed, it is a bit average. It definitely adds volume and makes the lashes stand out because of the rich, dark formula but despite the promising looking brush, it still clumps and doesn't separate my lashes. I had expected more from a high end mascara but I have achieved better results with YSL or Lancome. I would not purchase.

Terrible. I tried this mascara because I'd read so many rave reviews, and maybe it works for some people, but for me, it was just SUPER CLUMPY. It weighed down my lashes and bunched them up into 3-4 huge clumps per eye. I tried wiping the brush down a little to get rid of excess product, but that only helped marginally and wasted a lot of the expensive product. I have mixed asian-causasian lashes. Fairly long, but straight and not very thick. Total thumbs down for me. :(

This is by far the best mascara I've ever tried.. Advantages: no clumping, safe for contacts, non irriating, easy to clean without makeup remover, and your lashes aren't stiff and brittle by the end of the day.
The only disadvanatge is the price. Its pricey for a mascara, but, it's totally worth it.

Now, in a single stroke, CHANEL sets a new standard in mascara with a formula that does it all. A sophisticated formula and unique brush design combine to lengthen, plump and curl, delivering lush, long-wearing colour so precisely that each lash, even the finest, is perfectly defined and separated.
**My opinion**
I've been using this mascara for over a year now and really like it. I've tried other brands and I always come back to Chanel. Inimitable goes on very smoothly and stays on all day without smudging. My lashes look instantly longer when using it and the wand is small and handy. I only wish this mascara had a bit more volumizing formula.
