What I love about this cleanser is that it dosent make my skin dry and tight when I rinse it off.
Pros:
- It has alight, pleasant non irritating scent
-does a great job at removing the remnants of my makeup with my clairsonic after I use a makeup remover towelette.
- Its a cleanser, it cleases. It removes impurities without adverse reaction (for me at least)
- Makes my skin soft and not tight feeling when I rinse it off.
Cons:
- Price
- No pump unless you get the big big size

With a name like Purity Made Simple, I assumed this would be non-irritating. Boy, was I wrong. There's nothing pure about this cleanser. I mean, look at the hefty ingredient list! It was my mistake for giving into all of the hype and avoiding the ridiculous ingredients.

Purity Made Simple really irritated my eyes. I even had someone at work ask if I had a case of pink eye emerging. My eyes were bloodshot and itchy.

Oh, and this made me break out. It caused a total of three cystic zits for me -- one on my forehead, temple, AND CHEEK! Which is horrible because the cheeks are where I avoid breaking out most, as they are extremely prone to hyperpigmentation. This should take quite a while to heal, especially since my crappy skin takes forever to heal the cystic ones. :( NEVER again will I let this touch my face.

The ONLY plus about this cleanser is the cute packaging. That's about it. continued >>

While I don't think this is the absolute best when it comes to cleansers, it is one of the better ones I have tried. My skin tends to feel really tight after cleansing and this one only makes me feel mildly tight. I follow this with a BHA product(sometimes) and Clinique DDML and my skin feels perfect.
Pros:
The smell: I love the natural and clean scent of this. I used neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser before this and while I think it's better at removing makeup, the smell was intolerable after 6 months of use.
It's gentle: I have pretty normal skin with only a few clogged pores and one or two small pimples a month and my husband has normal skin with moderate acne issues. We are both able to use this with no issues.
Consistency: while this doesn't foam up a lot, I do like how creamy it is.
Cons:
Price is a bit high.
Sometimes I feel it leaves makeup behind.
Can be a tad drying but it's less drying than neutrogena FFC.
Final thoughts:
Still on the hunt for the perfect cleanser but this will do just fine for now.

********** ORIGINAL FEELINGS ON PURITY
I used to love this as my make up remover + cleanser. Originally, I'd get home for the day and use it once to take off all my make up (which depending on the day can be anything from very minimal to super heavy) and then one more time to actually cleanse my skin.

********** PURITY AS A MAKEUP REMOVER
This cleanser takes off makeup very easily no matter how long wearing the product may be. As a makeup remover.. I'd give this a 4/5. Docking 1 point because at times it feels far to milky on my skin.

********** PURITY AS A CLEANSER
As an actual face cleanser it used to impress me but over time I've lost my admiration for it. It is supposed to tone and deep clean pores. I don't believe it does either as well as it removes makeup. With continued usage I rarely find myself impressed with the appearance of skin. For me ideal skin is radiant, blemish free skin, with minimal blackheads. I always find when I use this that my skin is 100% free of all traces of makeup but it also looks dull, blemishes/scars appear a bit more red in tone, and my blackheads never seem to completely disappear past a certain level. I'd give this a 1.5/5 as a cleanser.

********** OVER-ALL THOUGHTS

Purity is definitely not an effective cleanser if you want beautiful skin however it is an extremely effective makeup remover... which is ESSENTIAL to the start of any skin care regimen.

********** HOW I USE PURITY
Presently I use Purity as soon as a get home to remove ALL of my makeup.
1) I prefer using this over wipes because the milky texture glides smoothly over my entire face while removing all my makeup as opposed to having to rub (Can cause irritation) my face with 2-3 facial wipes (depending on the brand).
2) I then go about my evening be it studying/cooking/relaxing until right before bedtime @ which point I follow up with a cleanser that will actually treat my skin and improve my appearance without makeup. Presently I am using cleansers for Anti acne/Anti oil/Improved radiance. I'm certain my cleanser will change depending on the time of the year/my skin's mood but @ this moment its safe to say that Purity will continue to be my makeup remover.

********** GENERAL THOUGHTS
* I do believe purity would work WONDERS on individuals who NEVER use cleanser or are starting out.
* I would recommend investing in a bottle of purity over a drugstore product to anyone looking to take their skin care more seriously.
* I would call this a "lazy girls" cleanser... an all in 1 product that claims to have all of the fixes. Although I'd like to note that "lazy girls" will achieve lazy mediocre results
* Philosophy would be smart to market this as a makeup remover ONLY.

********** MORAL OF THE REVIEW
If your someone who is willing to spend $ and time on skin care... I suggest you use this as a makeup remover and find yourself a beautiful cleanser for whatever concern your looking to target.

********** FOR ANYONE JUST SKIMMING REVIEWS **********

As a makeup remover? 4/5
As a cleanser? 1.5/5

Repurchase?

Yes... but will ONLY use as a makeup remover and follow up with a more luxurious cleanser that will target my concerns.

***************** UPDATE 11-27-2012
- I'm no longer using this as a makeup remover either. I prefer the mac cleanser off oil by a long shot. Read my review xo

At first I was fooled by the smell, color, and the word "purity" on the bottle. It feels so nice on the skin, gets all the makeup off, feels gentle enough but still foams up a bit when using it with my clarisonic. I used it for a few months and loved it. BUT over time, my skin looked awful! Dried out in spots, and huge pimples in others. I've stopped using it for about two weeks and I'm almost back to my old skin again. Don't be fooled by this stuff like I was. The consistency, color, and amazing smell made me feel like I was giving my skin a "treat" every night - but I was wrong - ingredients are far from "pure" - I'm going back to Cetaphil (which has its downfalls too) while I continue my search for a gentle cleanser that gets of all my makeup at night.

I have used the liquid in the past but I recently purchased this in the bar form which I really like. It’s pretty expensive about $18 but it's a large bar, which should last a long time. I normally use Boscia make up remover before I wash with my normal facial soap but I can use this to remove make up and wash my face in one step. Plus it doesn't sting my eyes so I can keep my eyes open when I use my Clarisonic.

UPDATE: The bar dried my skin out something fierce. I returned it to Nordstrom (love their return policy) and exchanged it for the liquid cleanser. But have stopped using it because of the parabens

Just purchased the supersized bottle with the pump off qvc. I've been using this for the last year during my skin care voyage. I've tried new products but always go back to this.

This is my makeup remover.
My wash.
I use it with my clearisonic so it exfoliates.

When I first started using this I loved it. It took off all my makeup (I wear a full face every day) and it made me feel like my skin was really clean! However, within a few weeks my face started breaking out in large cysts. The worst ones I have ever had. I finally went to a facialist to help me get my skin back on track. I told her I was using purity made simple and she laughed. She said it was clogging my pores and the ingredients are not natural. I stopped using it and my skin is clearing up finally. This may feel good and take off your makeup but do yourself a favor and look at the ingredients. I don't want that stuff on my face I'll tell you that much.
