I purchased this foundation due to all the hype and excellent reviews I'd read online when Estee Lauder temporarily discontinued my Double Wear shade, 1c1 Shell. Colorstay Ivory seemed like a decent match for my skin so I went ahead to try it. I'll compare it to Double Wear a few times in this review for anyone who is curious. Colorstay is a little thinner than DW and you really do need to use a bit more product. The coverage is a little less than DW, but still pretty decent. My skin is prone to oil and this keeps it matte throughout the day even without powder on top, perhaps even a little more effectively than the DW, which was impressive. On the negative side though, it had common cheap foundation issue #1 of clinging to the slight dry patches on my cheeks and emphasising the heck out of them. Having not worn a product that did this in so long, I'd almost forgotten it was possible, but Colorstay won't let me forget they're there! The last dealbreaker for me is that the Ivory shade looks fine when first applied, but oxidises to a very ruddy colour. My skin has pinkish undertones and I hate yellowy/orangey foundation, but this is different - it looks like I've just been overexerting myself or am seriously embarassed! It's possible to get away with it with a high neckline top but if you can see any more of my natural skintone, it's just silly. Overall it's a good enough drugstore offering if you're dead set on not paying for a more expensive brand - but you really do get what you pay for.

I really wanted to love this product after reading all the good reviews but it just does not work for me at all. I have combination skin which has the tendency to break out. I also have redness and uneven skin tone so I was looking for something medium coverage that didn't look too heavy. I've tried applying with a sponge, a foundation brush, a stippling brush and also my fingers but as soon as it touches my skin the foundation seems to set and instead of blending, just smudges around my face. It is particularly horrible if applied over a moisturiser. Even after the moisturiser had dried it seemed to mix together and created streaks all over my face. Also sinks into pores and makes them look huge. Overall, smelled way too strong, felt mask-like when applied and is near impossible to get off. On the other hand, the colour range is good, it is very long lasting and doesn't need touching up even after 8 hours.
i use the oily type. my skin is fair but i need to use 2 colors to make it more natural. i use mediumbeige color for my t-zone and cheeks area and ivory for my jaw and cheekbones and blend well. because if i use ivory for my whole face, it looks too white (like a ghost) and if i use mediumbeige for the whole face, the color of my face is too dark and different to my neck/body skin tone especially after it oxidizes. it has very good coverage for blemishes, redness or dark circles. so this combination is perfect for me, it leaves my skin oil free (might need to blot 1-2times in 8hours) but it stays on for quite long. 6-8hours. and it has a matt finishing. love this product, its cheap and easy to get. but the bottle is breakable if you drop it :p. looks just fine in pictures (digital camera or phone camera). it does not give me break out at all. but need to clean well with make up remover because it sticks too well. just water is not enough.

Don't get me wrong, Revlon makes beautiful foundations and I usually always have luck ... but, this is an exception. Revlon's Colorstay is thick, pigmented, and does last long. The problem I have with it is that when it does start to break down, it MELTS. This is WITH primer. It also transfers like crazy. I had my cheek on my hand at work briefly, and went to touch papers ... foundation everywhere. This also oxidizes pretty badly as well, even with a primer. It is also a bit too heavy for me. I think this will work with very problematic skin with a lot to cover, but this is just too much and too high maintainance for me.

I bought this after reading countless positive reviews of this product. I usually use BB creams for daily wear but I needed something really good at coverage for my up coming wedding which I will be doing my own makeup for. I must say, it does what it says and has not disappointed me since I started to use it during practise days. It stays matte and yet 'glowy' doesn't feel like much but gives close to perfect coverage.

If I could give this a 2.5, I would. That is my actual rating of this product, overall :)
Oily/combo skin with a little redness around my nose and very slight darkness under my eyes. I tend to get a few zits each month and can get little flakes here and there- nothing too bad though, just for reference.
What I look for, when purchasing a new foundation, is longevity and something that won't move around on my face too much during the day. With some foundations I've tried, pooling has been an issue. Let me just say, that I am a HUGE fan of Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation. I love the look, the longevity and the fact that it didn't seem to change colors (oxidize). I thought the formula was so easy to work with- it blended well and didn't feel to cakey for a long-wearing foundation. When I heard that Colorstay could be a possible cheaper alternative to DW, I went out and bought it immediately!
The first few times I wore this, I put it on the same way I'd been putting on my DW; with a damp Sonia Kashuk sponge (purple one, if you're wondering ;)). I was disappointed in this method with Colorstay because I felt like the foundation doesn't blend very easily and I also noticed that it gets quite cakey if the application process isn't overly methodical. I really had to work with this foundation to get it to blend and not be a heavy mess. I also noticed a lot of patchiness with this, even when wearing it over a good primer- yuk.
The coverage though, is very good. Zits instantly disappeared, any discolorations (I have freckles!) were covered as well! And, after a 10 hour workday, Colorstay didn't pool or melt away- it looked, more or less, the same as when I first applied it.
I then started to mix this with my moisturizer and liked it a lot more. After that, I decided maybe I could mix this with my not-so-long-wearing foundations. This is where I really found the worth in Colorstay. It is such a workhorse! When mixing it with another foundation, it extends the wearing time of it and the not-so-long-wearing foundation really takes the cakiness and blending issues away from Colorstay. That's what I love about Colorstay; it's like a foundation transformer!
Overall, I think that, for the price, it might be wonderful for a lot of people. For me, I will stick with Double Wear. This is just a foundation that didn't really work for me and I don't find it to be a huge value to me when I have Double Wear- which works well on it's own and as a 'foundation transformer'.
The coverage is awesome! I do not have to blot often but once is enough. What's bad is that the bottle is a hassle with no pump. Retailing in Singapore for S$30.90/US$25 and that's really expensive! For the great formula, i'll have to bear with the price.
I like this a lot, although I mix it with MAC prolong wear.
It is pretty good, but really heavy and thick. I used it once prior to taking a drivers license picture, and my photo came out looking like I had a thick, heavy tan!
I would recommend using little. Reviews on youtube say "pack it on" or "build it up" etc, but I would not recommend that if you are taking pictures at least. Video on youtube and a still frame picture are different.
Doesn't break me out, lasts a long time. The bottle could be better, the product comes pouring out but as long as you have a steady hand it should be okay.
I drop some on the back part of my left hand, and use the brush or my fingers (of my right hand) to apply. Sort of use my left hand like a pallet.
I re-purchase the product when I need to, nd its a bit expensive for "drugstore" brand, but it does go a long way and cover well.
I bought this foundation after growing tired and frustrated with my previous one by Covergirl. It has great reviews all around, and i've been thoroughly impressed by it myself. I've been using it daily for over a year now and am never disappointed. It lasts all day and makes my skin look amazing, especially when applied with a foundation brush. The smell isn't lovely, but it really doesn't bother me much either.
Hands down my favorite drug store foundation along with the whipped formula! I can easily say this product leaves an awesome finish on the skin and is comparable to Mac liquid foundations. Great part about it is they don't break me out or feel cakey like Mac liquid foundations (love Mac just can't use their foundations) I absolutely love this product and will purchase again and again. My other favorite is MUFE's HD foundation and to he honest I find myself reaching for Revlons way more. Great foundation, easy to blend (with fingers or brush) buildable coverage and lasts all day long!
