I tried a full face the foundation in sephora and also asked for a sample to take with me and I got so many compliments for the rest of the day. After using the foundation for the rest of the week in different environments and outings I was sold and went to buy a full bottle immediately. my only complaint is that I wish it came with a pump!
I am a big fan of make up forever.
sadly, this foundation did not work on me at all. I bought the right shade and everything. i wanted a mat foundation for parties and photoshoots but the texture was not what i'm looking for.
My skin is normal (sometimes though it tends to be a bit oily on the Tzone) but mostly just a normal skin type.
This foundation made my skin look VERY DRY,, although i did use a moisturizer before i apply it.. it looked way too mat like there was dust on my face ;S
i knew it dries quickly so i made sure to work fast with it, didnt work.
the first time i applied it with bobbi brown fondation , again, didnt work.
second time i used my hand for application , still didnt work.
My advice? if you're going to buy this product for the first time, dont try it on your hand/arm/wrist because when i did so the results were
fascinating but when i tried it at home i didnt like it at all. So try it on your face before you buy it.
i actually like this product in a foundation i always look for coverage, finish and how long its going to last. i find that the foundation is very easy to blend and it gives a very natural looking finish without looking too cakey or dewey. overall, price wise i think its pretty worth it.i can apply it in the morning and in the afternoon it looks like i just applied it! Amazing product
the complaints that i have its that you dont know whether your out or still have some left in the bottle.
I love this foundation! I got it in 35 for the summer when I'm aroung NC30. It has a really good coverage. I use it with my Sigma F84 and the application is flawless. It doesn't cover my freckles, but I haven't found any foundation that covers them anyways.
It lasts all day, from 7 AM until 11 PM. My skin doesn't get oily throughout the day, but I haven't tested it in really hot weather yet. It can accentuate my dry patches a little bit, but not as much as some other foundations. It gives a really mat finish. There is no scent to it. I like the packaging, easy to travel with but I wish we could see how much there is left. I bought a second bottle thinking the first one was running out, but I still can use it and it's been a few weeks that I bought the second bottle that I didn't open yet...
I love this foundation. It covers up really well, just going over your face once with this foundation will cover up any redness or imperfections, no need to build it up or anything. I use this with Too Faced's Primed and Poreless primer and it leaves my face looking flawless.
Unfortunately, this foundation did not work for me. I was planning on wearing this to a dance party, and I read that this stays matte for a long time so decided to give this a try. The one mistake I made was buying a shade too light for my skin. I bought this in shade 20, and when I took a picture of myself with flash, my face looked very ghastly and unattractive. Although this is a personal issue, I encourage you to be very careful when you're looking for the right shade. Most likely when you test it on your skin at the store, you're going to use a very small amount to see if it'll match your skin tone. In the store, it might look good, but when you actually use a larger amount to cover your entire face, it'll look different and more concentrated. So just because that tiny amount you put on your face blends really well and looks good on your skin, doesn't mean it'll look that way when you put it on your entire face.
As for the application, it dries very quick, so you need to work fast. I used a stippling brush from StudioTools, and I found myself panicking because it was drying at a very fast rate. The only thing that I liked here during the application was how little product I needed. I didn't need to squeeze out a lot of product, which is great considering how this cost me $36 at Sephora. After finishing my entire face, the first thing I noticed was how the foundation literally just sat on my face. I buffed it out as much as I could, but unfortunately it just didn't blend into my skin, so it looked quite unnatural. I have combination skin - the skin on my forehead is very oily, and so is the skin around my nose. But the nose itself is very dry. What was very strange was how the foundation would really bring out my whiteheads around my nose and would even sit on some of the dry skin (the dry skin that you usually can't see unless you wear foundation that doesn't work for you).
As for coverage, it covers very well. The skin around my nose is very red, and so is my acne covered temples. This foundation is not heavy coverage like Revlon Colorstay, but I'd say medium coverage.
Another thing I didn't like was how it felt on my skin. I could feel it pulling at my skin, and smiling was rather uncomfortable. Considering how I wanted to wear this to a social event, this foundation would have felt even more uncomfortable.
I decided to let it sit on my skin for a while. After about 3 hours, I noticed that the oils around my nose started to form, and my skin looked rather dewy. It actually looked better than right after I put on the foundation, but that means it didn't serve its purpose as a matte foundation.
The only other thing I liked was the packaging, It's kind of like a squeezing tube, so it's very sanitary and not messy. But that's really it. :( I will be returning this to Sephora soon and possibly try out the Face and Body Foundation that people rave about.
This is the best foundation I have used. It covers well, you can build it up. I have freckles and if I put it on lightly it will cover imperfections but my freckles will still show through so I don't look like a white sheet. I use a brush to apply and it goes on great. It keeps my face mat even without any powder. It has actually improved my acne prone skin and I don't break out if I don't wash it off at night.
This does not contain SPF, this makes this a good choice to wear if you are going to be photographed with flash, such as at your wedding. I wore this for my wedding and my skin came out looking amazing!
I have never found a foundation that works as well for me as Revlon Colorstay. It is the standard by which I judge all other foundations. I'd heard great things about Mat Velvet, I had a Sephora gift card burning a hole, and I have that constant burning desire to find the next "miracle" product. So I got a bottle of MV. And I've gotta tell ya, it is every bit as good as CS. Matte, full coverage, lasts all day, don't need a primer. Great product. But if it's just as good as CS, why would I continue to buy it, when I can buy CS for a third of the price? Thus being the reason I only give it 4 stars and will not buy again. At least I had a gift card for the bottle I did get.
I found this foundation recommended for people with acne and it provides excellent coverage and I have not noticed any breakouts or clogged pores from this. On the contrary, since I stopped using MAC and switched to MUFE my skin has improved. This foundation lasts up to 12 hours on me and it stays true to color without any significant oxidation.
I was initially shocked at how small the bottle was for the price but I am still on the same tube 5 months later and I wear this foundation every day so a little goes a long way :)
As for my coloring, I am Asian with and normally wear NC30 and MUFE #40 was a great match with the right amount of yellow undertone for me.
I really like this foundation a lot. The finish is definitely matte, though natural looking. I found a dead on color match (am NC20 with a fair amount of yellow in my skin, my match in this is 20). It covers many of my problem areas (hyperpigmentation, and some acne scaring). Zero oxidation, color remains incredibly true for hours. I've tried so many foundations and this one is definitely in my top 5. But, it's not my #1. No matter how lightly I apply it, it always feels heavier than I'd prefer, and something in it makes my skin feel a little tight. So, I love the look, but it's a bit too much coverage for me, and the feel isn't super heavy, but it's too heavy for me for everyday wear (I tend to go for light foundations, though, so if you are used to heavier foundations this could be good). Still, it's soooo much better than lots of foundations out there, and if for some reason I couldn't get a hold of my HG foundation, this would be my back-up in a second. Lots of pluses and minuses with this one. Worth a look, especially for ladies with very oily skin.
