We really need a maybe option for *would you buy this product again*!!!
Anyways, I took the plunge and bought the big bottle for £27 from boots after reading all these good reviews. Expensive, yeah but for the amount you get it's quite good. Anyhow, used this before in the bath to remove my makeup, and used it twice with a sponge, then cleansed again using my clinique soap (I wear heavy makeup). I noticed minimal to no makeup residue on my cotton pad when using a toner. Normally after cleansing, I have makeup residue still on my cotton pad. I wear Lancôme teinte idole 24/revlon colorstay/Estée Lauder double wear, so as you can see, all heavy duty foundations, topped off with eye shadow primer, powdr and blush etc. I'll use this twice a day as a sort of pre cleansing before using my Clinique soap!
I found this soft to use and it felt really cleansing and nourishing.
Time will tell whether or not this breaks me out. If it does, I'll update!!
Philosophy's Purity Made Simple is a gentle facial cleanser/makeup remover duo that I've found to work quite effectively. I like the fact that a little goes a long way (which helps, since this isn't the cheapest product out there) and that one wash will remove all face and eye makeup. It's good for all skin types, as it will not make skin oily or too dry.
As for the scent of this, it reminds me of a combination between Ivory soap and Fruit Loops (weird, I know). I wouldn't say that the scent is amazing like most of Philosophy's 3-in-1's, but it's not a terrible scent ever. It's tolerable.
Despite the expensive price, I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for a gentle cleanser.
This cleanser has got to be the best thing I've ever tried. I work at Sephora, and we use this to clean all of our make up brushes. It is smooth and creamy, and it seriously melts make up away. When I wash my face with this, I get it into a foamy lather and I wash for a little over a minute, sometimes with an exfoliater pad if I have dry patches. My skin feels so smooth and soft after I use this, and I never feel like I have a residue left behind. It really melts away all of my make up, and I wear Revlon ColorStay and a MAC concealer, including liquid eyeliner and lots of mascara, so there's a lot to remove. This gets everything. Another really good thing about this is that it doesn't dry your skin out even though it gets all of your make up. It actually feels like it moisturizes my skin more then anything. When I use my toner afterwards, there's never any make up traces left behind. This remains a staple in my skin care regimen.
i love this! i have been using it for about 2 years now, it's great for my sensitive skin :) a little goes a long way so don't be thrown off by the price if you thinks it's kinda expensive. i usually get the $10 travel size bottle & it lasts me about 3-4 months!
A high end cleanser that delivers! This cleanser removes all makeup (yes, even waterproof) without drying out my skin or stinging my eyes. I pair this with a really gentle cleanser like Cerave or Cetaphil to use in the evening and morning, respectively. I have really easy skin, so finding a cleanser that keeps my skin clean and clear isn't hard, but my skin is even better than "great" with this stuff.
Pros: creamy formula is great for dry or combination skin, removes makeup and is the only cleanser I've ever used that literally melts away the tiny blackheads and whiteheads on the tip of my nose. Relatively cheap because you only need a dime sized amount to remove makeup and wash your whole face, as opposed to a proper dollop of most cleansers.
Cons: the smell isn't awesome, but it isn't offensive either. I wish it came with a pump in the smaller sizes. Is a bit on the drying side for creamy cleansers. It broke my friend out, so it isn't for everyone, but I do think the formulation is something special.
My mom bought this cleanser 3 years ago and so I started using hers, she likes it because its simple. I don't even though I have been using it for 3 years as well. We own so many bottles. I don't think it makes me break out but it doesn't do anything for my skin (dry-combination). It doesn't clear my skin but it removes makeup pretty good. I find u need to use it twice each use for it to be effective at cleaning your face. Its okay, I want to try the soap and glory ones though. This is better if you don't have blemish prone skin.
My mom bought this cleanser for herself and i also started using it when i ran out of my fresh soy cleanser, i think it kinda dried my skin out and also made me break out a little bit on my cheeks, but its a decent cleanser... any ways, im back to my old cleanser and my skin is good again!
I've been using this facial cleanser twice daily for the past two months or so and loved it when I first started using it. About 2-3 weeks ago, I started noticing that I was breaking out with cystic acne in several spots on my face. These spots have been there for 2 weeks or so solid, and I have been treating them twice a day (sometimes even three times a day). They are very deep and painful to the touch, and look horrible. The areas of my face that aren't breaking out are very dry, and I have also noticed that I am getting fine lines around my mouth and on my forehead since I started using this product. I'm only 22, I don't tan, and always put on an SPF before I go out, so I am fairly certain that it's drying out my skin. I have never had this problem before, even in my teens. I am diligent about changing my pillowcase every week or so, take fish oil supplements, don't touch my face, and eat relatively healthy food, so this product is the only factor I can see that is causing this problem. I used Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for years before trying this product out, and will likely be going to go back to it. For as pricey as the Philosophy line is, I'd think they would make a cleanser that is more gentle and effective.
I love this face wash!! It claims to be a makeup remover, a face wash, a toner, and a moisturizer which I find to be true for the most part. It definitely removes all of my makeup and leaves my face feeling clean and refreshed. Its very gentle on my dry, acne prone skin and never leaves it feeling more dry or sensitive. While you may not NEED a toner or moisterizer after using this I woud still recomend using one or the other or both depending on your skin type. I like to wash my face twice with this since I use a heavy foundation to cover up breakouts and redness from old scars. The first time I wash with this is to remove all my makeup then the second time is to really clean my skin. This doesnt make me break out at all and I think it is perfect for any skin type!
LOVEEEE this cleanser! Bit on the pricey side but, a little goes a long way for me so it ends up lasting me a while! I have pretty sensitive skin and haven't had any problems with this cleanser, will for sure be repurchasing!
