One of the best primers out there! it neutralizes the lids and makes the eyeshadow last for ever
let me just get it out of the way i dont use this, or expect it to work as an eyeshadow primer. i use it so my eyelids look more even and by extention, more awake and bright and it does the job like nothing else! it took me a long time to buy it because i thought it would crease on my eyelids, just foundation usually did but this baby lasts all day, it looks the same at 7am and then at 9pm - which is like a miracle for me!
I don't think I'll ever use another primer. I have a few other shadow primers and I ALWAYS reach for this one. The texture of this eye shadow primer is fantastic. It's nice and thick and resists creasing. I put it on after foundation but before powdering, to give it enough time to 'settle', because of the texture shadows are difficult to blend if you dont let it sit for a minute or two. I also found this is great for hard-to-cover blemishes, I tap a small amount on a blemish and cover with usual concealer. Great stuff :)
ive been using this for years. absolutely adore this product. my eyeshadow stays on all day with the help of this baby.
As someone said already, you can't expect this to act as primer. It is a BASE for eye shadows so that it comes out more vibrant and it's true! I bought the too faced shadow insurance that didn't really help my eye shadow to stay on long; it creased within 4 hours. The UD primer potion didn't even do that to me! My friend recommended that I use the too faced shadow insurance WITH the MAC painterly paint pot. And let me tell ya, it worked wonders; the color pay off of eye shadow on my eye lids looks better and it allows the eye shadow to stick better. I've tried it alone and yeah, it would probably last about 3-4 hours for me if you have super oily lids. I would recommend getting a primer and then putting this on. Overall I think this is a great product. For the price; it will literally last me the whole year, you do not need a lot to apply on the lids.
I always heard such commotion about MACs Paint Pot in Painterly so I finally gave in and tried it out! I love & adore how smooth it applies and how it evens out the color on my eyelids before I apply my eyeshadow! However, the couple of times that I have used it, I started seeing creasing within 4-6 hours :/ UDPP lasts much much longer than that.
4 Lippys for creasing rather quickly. Love the packaging, might repurchase, not so sure though. I think I'm just going to use it for daytime looks and then for nights out just redo makeup using UDPP.
It was a good primer, but I wanted something that would last me up to 12 hours since I usually wear it to class and then to go out or whatever after classes, and it just doesnt work, its much better than any other primers I used but still not doing it for me!
True. This is not an eyeshadow primer but a base. I use a primer then the paint pot over it. Painterly is a nice neutral pale color. I love it ! I love cream eyeshadows, they are so easy to apply and look so natural. If you hate fussing in the morning. Try cream eyeshadows. This colour brightens your eyes.
Okay, first, let me get this straight:
This isn't an eyeshadow primer; this is an eyeshadow BASE. There's a difference. Eyeshadow primers are used to make your eyeshadow stay put, last longer, and apply vibrantly. They prevent the natural oils on your eyelid from breaking down your eyeshadow.
Eyeshadow bases are used to help your eyeshadow adhere to your lids and get good color pay-off, but not necessarily meant to prevent creasing.
So for those of you who thought Paint Pots didn't work for you, remember that they're not meant to prep or prime your eyelids, so you might want to try using a primer and a base to get the best of both worlds.
That said, I absolutely LOVE Paint Pots! Painterly is my favorite because of its neutral color. It's a matte nude beige that's incredibly versatile. It has no pink or yellow undertone, so it works with any eyeshadow color.
The creamy consistency is very easy to work with. For convenience, I simply use my ring finger to apply and blend.
I use this underneath my eyeshadows and MAC pigments so that they can adhere better (my eyelids are oily) and stay put without transferring or smudging.
This, in my opinion, is an absolute must-have in everyone's makeup bag, along with Urban Decay Primer Potion and a good concealer.
And the $17.50 price isn't bad at all, considering a little goes a long way (you only need a little bit per eye).
Would I repurchase? Yes.
I used to be faithful to UDPP but when i was intruduced to painterly and never looked back.
I absolutely love it. It evens out my eyelids and creates a perfect base for eye shadows.
This little pot will last you a long time. I apply it with my fingers, then apply my eyeshadows. By the end of the night but eyeshadow hasnt moved. Will repurchase. I love the texture of it. So smooth.
