when you first apply it yes it looks matte and dull after 1 hour and seems to dissolve off your face and not to mention it has no coverge whatsoever if they had a full coverage i might consider but til then ill pass on this product
I use this on most days to set foundation and even on days when I am not- just to keep the shine down. Works great, easy to travel with, inexpensive, doesn't look cakey. Although it does do a decent job at keeping my foundation in place, it isn't the best at oil control in hot summer weather (I prefer something with silicone at those times).

I hate how they don't have darker colors! Neither does the rimmel stay matte! And it gives a very powderly look! Unless you get it in your color, it'll look okay I guess.
I looove this powder to set my foundation! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because I wish they had a wider variety of shades! I have more of a yellow undertone and the powder is more beige =( but I only dust on a light amount so you can't notice at all. Love this and the price!
wth happened?
i used to use this with good results, but lately it makes my face overproduce oil. I look like I smeared vaseline on my face right now.
Ineffective.
I bought this powder a while ago, I think when it first came out. For starters, I don't have any oil problem with my face getting oily or anything, so I can't really comment on how well this would control oil (if it even does). But, I will say this powder does accentuate on dry spots on your face, so this is not good for use in the winter. It also looked very cakey & never gave me a nice, natural finish. I even tried using this by itself, without foundation...& it still didn't do anything special for me. & as someone else had mentioned, there aren't that many color selections to choose from for this. I ended up getting a color that was too light for my skin tone, so it made me look whiter than I really was (which is a no-go in my book). This never made me break out though, so that's why I gave it 2 points, instead of one. Personally, I still don't think this is a good powder. But, everyone is different. What works for me, might not work for you, & vice versa. The only way to really know, is to try it for yourself. I still wouldn't reccommend this though, I think there are much better powders that you can get at a drugstore than this. continued >>
This is a great bargain, and one of the best quality powders you can find in a drugstore. It's finely-ground and doesn't settle into fine lines. It provides light coverage, goes on matte and does an excellent job of keeping oily skin under control for at least several hours.
This is a great stand-by to keep in your purse for touch-ups during the day. I like a bit more coverage, so I still use MAC in the mornings and then use this to touch up my oily T-zone throughout the day.
I'd recommend tossing the powder puff that this comes with, and applying with a good quality kabuki brush for a smoother finish.
My only grievance is the awkward packaging. The mirror and powder puff part flips out sideways while the lid on the actual powder flips up in another separate mechanism. Not comfortable at all, and it does look a bit cheap. I ended up breaking the lid after a few months of usage.
Still, the powder itself makes this good enough to repurchase.
EDIT: I've managed to break the compact, yet again, and so I'm taking the rating down from 4 to 3 lippies. The packaging is just too awkward to handle, and not worth it with so many other powders out there.
This product does keep skin very matte. However, it looks extremely powdery when first applied even on my oily/combo skin. This product also has very little shade options. I would recommend for someone with extremely oily skin but if you have dry to dry combination skin avoid at all costs.
Love love looove this product! Easy to use and matches skin tone perfectly. I use this with my maybelline dream matte mousse foundation and I love it!
Kinda pricey, best packaging ever! And I will be repurchasing!
EDIT: have been using this with other foundations and am still loving it! though i HATE the dream mousse foundation i bought this with now (read my other review), this product is a godsent for me. gives my skin a soft glow along with covering any redness and on top of a good coverage foundation leaves my skin flawless. love love LOVE this!

Wow. This is one product that lives up to its hype! I thought oh yeah, this is just another one of those over-raved about drugstore products that isn't really as good as proposed. I was pleasantly surprised. I regularly use MAC MSF natural for a powder, but this Maybelline one is MUCH better. This one is softer, more natural, and much less cakey. It doesn't settle into my pores/fine lines/dry spots and keeps my skin looking matte all day. This is my new 'holy-grail' powder. I love it!
