Like most silicone primers, this gives a smoothness to the skin that helps any kind of foundation smooth on better and helps keep oilies at bay. I do notice a difference when I don't use it. My T-zone needs more blotting when I go without.
I think I'd prefer a squeeze tube over the jar though. Having to use my finger or the little scoop that comes with it is a bit of a hassle. The little red jar is kinda cute though.

The packaging of this product is crap as you have to try and dip your fingers in the tiny pot therefore infecting/spreading bacteria to the whole thing (unless you use the spatula which is a hassle). So ok it feels really smooth on your skin and does help m/u stay on longer but that's about it! My usually sheer foundation looks so thick and cakey after putting this, foundation doesn't blend well. I tried. believe me I did. I really wanted to like this but it just wouldn't work even if I use the tiniest amounts it made me look too made up when I prefer a sheer more natural look. This is expensive and not worth the money. Will not buy again.

I love this stuff. Best primer I've ever used, and that's saying a lot after using Laura Mercier's primer. I have huge pores and this primer fills them in nicely. I use a q-tip to get the product out and then dot it on my T-zone, which is where I have the large pores. I blend it out and then put my foundation on top. Beautiful finish and I'm very happy with the product.

I just purchased my second jar of this stuff. I tried it once (my very first experience with a primer). I'm 45 and I now am noticing enlarged pores and fine lines that I would like to hide somewhat. After I finished the first jar and I think it lasted me about 6 months if I remember correctly. I wear makeup almost everyday so I thought that was pretty good. I really loved it. I felt my skin looked smoother and I didn't need as much foundation. When I ran out I happened to be near Sephora so I browsed a little bit and decided to try Smashbox primer. At first I hated it, but I played with it and found I really liked it. When I ran out of Smashbox I bought another Smashbox. I've now realised how much longer the clarins lasted me compared to Smashbox. Smashbox is alright but between the price and it's longevity I don't think you can beat clarins. I wear a lot of different foundations all the time and I find that when I wear mineral makeups with this my skin looks incredible. Close to flawless. You only need a tiny amount so for the price you pay I think it's really worth it. It's less expensive than a lot of the other primers out there. I think I will continue to use this for a long time. I even notice a subtle difference in the appearance of my skin with this by itself. It gives an almost airbrushed kind of look. Not completely like I said it's subtle. All in all I think this is a great product.

This is one of my favourite products.

I've never used it under makeup - and might try soon, judging by others' comments!

I usually use it for my problem area, my forehead: I have sun damage and it's slightly lined. It doesn't exactly magic away my wrinkles, however it does minimise them and is matifying (I have generally dry skin but with slightly oily T-zone), the effect is quite velvety.

The packaging is very luxe as well: super glam!

This stuff is great as a primer. I have major undereye circles, and no concealer really worked as well as I would have liked. I splurged on this after it was recomended in US Magazine, and it made all the difference. It goes on easily, makes skin feel silky smooth, and best of all it makes my concealor go 110% better and now I have the kind of smooth coverage I want, without it getting cakey, disapearing, or settling into fine lines. I have recently starting wearing foundation everyday (Diorskin Airflash) and it works great under it.

Some chicks may be put off at the teeny container for the price, but TRUST that a little goes a looooooooong way. I have been using it a couple times a week for months and I still have a good third of it left. You only need the littlest amount.

I took one lippie off for price and because I dont think it does much to improve appearance if used alone, which it is purported to do. But as a primer, under makeup, its pretty boss :)

Am on my second pot of this stuff and I absolutely adore it. It fills in the tiny lines by my eyes which is what I bought it for. I don't have large pores so can't comment on its effectiveness for that. It is silky and glides on nicely. I don't have a problem with stuff in pots like some people do so the packaging is fine for me.

Great product. this goes on like silky velvet. That's the only way to describe it. It's like silky spackle! I have very large pores on my cheeks - don't know how they got that way, but that's besides the point. I use on my cheeks, around my nose, under my eyes. I do not use it all over my face, basically I spot apply this. Skin feels very satiny smooth wherever it's applied. Definitely reduces the appearance of the pores. Prior to this I had Philosophy's "The Present" primer. I felt like I was putting elmers glue on my face, and I really didn't see much of a difference in the appearance of my pores. This stuff allows me to use less foundation. Makes my skin look much nicer. That's what I want, and that's what it does.
The only thing I don't like is the little spatula, I can see this getting lost and I find it annoying. I know it's not hygienic, but I'll just end up using my fingers to apply. Other than that, it's PERFECT! Lives up to the hype. HG status! Will repurchase!

It doesn't look good on oily skin (unless used under eyes only)- Clinique's pore minimizer instant perfector is in my opinion best product for disguising pores- especially for people with oily skin.

I breakout very easily so i tend to stay away from primers for the skin. However, this was sold to me as an undereye base. At 35 I am starting to get the fine lines and concealers can settle into the lines. This product is designed as a primer for the whole face and undereye area that minimizes the appearance of wrinkles and pores. IT works great under the eye to give the skin a smooth area so a dry concealer can really blend well. Love this under the eyes. Retails for $27.50 for .5oz. It has this silky texture that gives concealer a nice amount of slip. Great product for those looking to minimize fine lines around the eye area.
