this arrived this morning and i was so so excited. after previously trying (and HATING) studio sculpt i wanted to give mac another chance after seeing people on instagram saying they swear by it.
i have just finished scrubbing my face raw to get this off and slathering on moisturiser to try and save my face.. this is like some kind of acid. i have NORMAL skin. not sensitive, i only break out at my time of the month, my skin is not dry, nor is it oily, its just normal. never in my life has a foundation given me this reaction.
MY SKIN IS STLL BURNING AS I WRITE THIS. i put it on about 10am, and it was fine, pretty average coverage, didnt cover any discouloration or redness in my skin, just looked like my normal skin, which was dissapointing because i paid £25 (including the pump) i could feel it on me. then my face started getting abit itchy but i didnt think to much of it. i looked in the mirror 3 hours later and it had completly dissapeared (it was still there, but there was no colour too it other than a greesy orange tint. so much for nw10!) so i put on another 2 pumps and bam, the itching started again. about 15 minutes later i noticed my skin going red and it felt warm, and then it went from warm, to burning, so i washed it off and what the foundation had been hiding was a bight red itchy mess. i washed it off, used my clarisonic and all, and this stuff was still burning my face. i look awful and i have came straight on here to say this because i am so so angry and upset and want to save others from this. DONT BUY IT.
If you have sensitive skin and are acne prone this product may severely break you out.
The studio fix foundation + concealer irritated my skin.
The PROLONG wear concealer works, and if you mix with a moisturizer it can be a tinted, full coverage moisturizer :)
WILL NOT BUY this product again. Will return it.
I love this foundation. NW10 works perfectly for me, and I have absolutely no complaints. Full coverage, lasts all day, and stays put. I apply this using my MAC 187, and set the foundation with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light. I have combination skin (very oily t-zone) that is sensitive to just about everything. However, I've had no issues with this foundation (no irritation or breakouts). It's great to be able to wear this foundation to work, and not have to deal with touching up throughout the day. By the end of the work day I have some dewiness, but it's not a greasy mess (which is what happens to me with other foundations I own). I will definitely be purchasing this again when I run out. I only wish the pump didn't have to be purchased separately (that's the only real negative).
I really like this foundation. I'm an NW10 and that seems to be the perfect match in foundation I've ever found. I've used it for a few weeks now and I haven't broken out because of it like some reviewers have. It offers excellent coverage and it works wonderfully with my combination skin. The only things I dislike are the price, but that won't deter me from buying again when I run out, and the packaging. I think it's stupid that you have to buy the pump separately. Other than that, this will be my go to foundation for a while!
Recently came back from college, and my mom donated this to me. I brought my studio sculpt home to use, but one night for a party i decided i wanted something with fuller coverage and luckily my mom had ssf in nc30. On it went.
Does it look like skin? No. It looks like perfect velvet skin, the sort of perfect skin with no blemishes, spots, discoloration and yet manages to glow. Its creepy how perfect my skin looks with this that i dont dare wear it on a regular basis because it would just be unfair to other women in the room. Just kidding. What i mean to say is, you can tell that im wearing makeup, but only because my skin looks so flawless. I cant see a single pore.
I like how it holds up in the summer weather. Yes, it does pill if you over apply or layer on too much. Yes, my t zone gets a little oily if i dont blot, and i dont even have oily skin. But for summer i dont have any other foundation that holds up as well as doesnt require any touch up for the full 8 to 10 hours i keep it on. I just blot and relax.
I was mad to find out it doesnt come with a pump included and is another 8 bucks. My mom went out to buy a new bottle for herself and paid 35 bucks. What.
Nc30 is a perfect color match, very yellow toned without being sallow.
Smells like paint, blech. Guess it sort of is paint.
Thick consistency, i use a beauty blender to get this baby well blended into my skin and use only one full pump for my face and neck.
Overall, a very good foundation when i want the focus to be on my skin, and yet not on my skin. Its hard to explain. I look too perfect with this on. Ill stick to my studio sculpt for every day.
I really like this foundation, although i reckon my skin is abit too dry for it. It's really smooth, full in color and easy to blend in. It's GREAT coverage which i love. Main thing i don't like about is that it absorbs really fast so you gotta apply it quite fast... UNLESS you got a really moisturising base first (which i normally don't cos i have a crappy moisturiser atm) then it'll work great. It also will look cakey (or won't even blend in) if you have dry skin or don't moisturise before hand. I wore it the other night for a family dinner and my skin looked so flawless and pretty. It leaves a soft matte finish. I just needed one layer and wa-la! I don't have any major flaws just dark circles and i look quite tired and dull... so this is my go-to to fix that. It's a great shade which i am in nc42 and it doesn't have that greyness or chalky look that drugstore brands have!.. it just goes on smooth and covers everything. I think it's a great reliable foundation =)
For someone with oily acne-prone skin this is a fantastic foundation. It is a heavy coverage but its also easy to get a lighter finish by mixing it with moisturiser! I find it gives a really good finish when photographed and doesn't go oily as quick as many other foundations I have tried. I always go back to this foundation. If you have dry skin or want a very natural look this probably isn't for you but if you want a flawless matte finish then definitely give it a go!
I really don't like this stuff. I only wear it when i'm taking pictures or going to something fancy. Wearing it alone - looks horrendous. My skin is cakey, streaky, and disgusting. Wearing it with a primer - little bittle, blends in better, and makes my skin feel velvety. But it's still very cakey. I also did not like the color of this at ALL! I got the lightest shade off the website and it looks orange on me. There's a distinct line where the foundation stops on my neck. I have to add one of my lightest foundations to this to make it my skin tone, or close to it. So pretty much, I don't like this. At all. And I probably won't buy much more of MAC ever again.
I am surprised this foundation has a below-4-star rating on MUA. This is my favourite foundation! I have combination skin and this is by far the best foundation I have found that doesn't make my skin look flaky or super oily! I used to use Napoleon Perdis foundation stick (which I thought was the bomb) but when I compare the two - MAC makes Napoleon look like a cheap drugstore brand - and believe me, it's not cheap!
I find that I have to touch up with powder on my nose area once a day, but I used to do this about 4 times per day with other foundations. It doesn't dry my skin out, and if my skin does happen to be dry or flaky in winter, my studio fix fluid masks it well, rather than making it more obvious like most foundations do.
The thing that I love most about my MAC studio fix is that I have FINALLY found a true colour match for my skin. I am yellow based and fair...and the majority of foundations on the market are pink based, especially the fair end of the spectrum. NC20 is a perfect match for me and blends so well into my skin that I can't see where I have applied it. I recommend getting one of the MAC artists to colour match for you rather than selecting your own shade because my sister also uses this foundation, but I have noticed her colour is slightly off.
Packaging is quite good (I like that the bottle is clear) but you need to buy the pump lid for ease of use. The bottle is quite expensive but not too bad value....one bottle lasts me a bit over 1 year. I used to have to repurchase my old foundation every 6 months.
I honestly can't fault this foundation and I will definitely repurchase, over and over again.
This has been my main foundation for the past 3 years. Relatively happy with it. I use Physicians Formula pressed powder (darker shade, doubles to even out/matte and as a bronzer) over top. Right now I find my skin is going through an interesting transition and I am trying to find one that's more suitable- :
Consistency is just right for my combo/sensitive skin
Coverage is awesome
Shades NC 25-NC40 (I get crazy dark in the summer) are perfect. My skin is really yellow (for a Swede), and The SA kept trying to convince NW. Eventually I told her I had Jaundice (I don't) so she'd leave me alone. Something to keep in mind, I found that the NW tones went on great but after a couple of hours and having set it was stupidly pink. My advice? Walk around the mall for a bit and see how your color sets and then make a decision.
Staying power is ok, but nothing extravagant- primer is a pretty big factor in it.
I've yet to find a good primer and I think you need to prime to truly get the best results with S.fix.
Buy a pump. Way more hygienic, easier to control.
